On a different note, I am glad you made this video and shared very specifically what you worked on. I think this is good in painting a picture of what someone more junior (i.e. less than 2 years of experience) would work on at a big tech company (as this describes a similar scope to what I worked on) . I think you should make a video on how making a side project (i.e. algoexpert) really helped you grow as an engineer / your motivation for doing so.

Honestly not a big deal. I did the same with AWS at the very last step of hiring, I still use it, I still love it and honestly working on a project more to my own liking compared to what I would get to do at AWS, I get more responsibility, I get to work on a lot more stuff and I get to choose my own tech stack for the most part.

I have to admit Google Cloud Console is the google product I hate the most... It is slow, it is heavy, it uses client side rendering and the api requests take forever to load (over 10 seconds). Then the layout is confusing, adding quotas, billing, and APIs are a mess. APIs are scattered everywhere and change names a lot. I dread visiting it Having to create and maintain a part of that must have been hell... I mean think of the time to test after a code change (at least 10 secs to load the page, forget about compiling). Also two years and a team of UX designers/programmers getting paid 200k each for those 3-5 pages? How?

Hi Clement. From your experience, do you think doing research in CS is almost as valuable as doing an internship in CS? I say that bc I'm doing research at my College and I was wondering if that will give me any credibility for when I apply for internships at companies
@clem5 жыл бұрын
Though having research is definitely a positive, I would say that an internship is even more valuable, just because you get to experience what it's actually like in the industry and because you can potentially get a return offer. Also, depending on the role, some internships involve research! But I think your research will definitely give you a boost in the future!

What is the importance of algorithms and data structure in front end? Since you created algoexpert.
@clem5 жыл бұрын
Well, AlgoExpert is specifically geared towards preparing you for coding interviews. But as far as algorithms and data structures in the frontend are concerned, you do sometimes need to implement tricky algorithms (for instance, if you're trying to manipulate data from an API to display a certain way on the UI). Maybe I'll make a video that touches on this topic!
