Exactly, I recently have been dealing with wisdom teeth pain. And I've been taking generic brand Tylenol for about a week. Along with rinsing out my mouth with warm/cool water mixed with ten drops of tea tree oil to help with the inflammation. An ice pack to also help with the pain. I quit taking the pills two days ago, which I was taking 3 times a day in the beganing, and switched to taking them 2 times a day. And even though there was some pain. And before I quit I only took two tablets one time a day. At the end the pain was pretty bad, and I needed to let the pain go ahead and do its thing. This way I would not become dependent on the pills. My ciropractor once told me you need to feel the pain to help you heal better. This way one will not have to rely on pills, and let the body heal its self. And if the pain in my mouth continues I can still rinse out my mouth with the tea tree oil solution I mentioned above, any time without any side effects. And thankfully the tea tree oil is helping me out a lot. And drinking cups of roasted herbal tea helps too.

same except opposite. As a teen I was obese, bordering on morbidly obese. 120kg at 5ft tall. Yeah, big yikes. I had a few different things that would need painkillers/numbing stuff through my childhood and teens, tooth fillings, stepping on a nail, the time I nearly cut my thumb off etc... but the painkillers never worked at all. Didn't even take the edge off. (no I'm not joking, I'd sit in the school dentist's chair screaming while my parents held me down because I felt Everything while they drilled my teeth. Bloody traumatic) I was actually worried I was immune to all painkillers, or wondering if painkillers were actually just a placebo when I was a teen. When I started getting period cramps people would go "why don't you just take ibuprofen" and I'd reply "that stuff's a hoax. It doesn't work it's just a placebo" ugh cringey, but understandable why I believed that considering my history with painkillers. Welp turns out I wasn't immune, they were giving me child doses when I was in a body double the size of most adult women. Now as a adult I'm just a smidge overweight, 79kg, and WOW painkillers ACTUALLY work now!! I went to the dentist for a filling early January this year, and the right side of my face was numb for almost the whole day, cheek and tongue included... that's nuts!!!!

I'm glad to see this video subject matter, as I have recently suffered from an Ibuprofen OD by taking a ~normal dosage for too many days in a row. Started feeling extreme nausea, thought food poisoning immediately. I'd been eating those Hall's C vitamins for a week, and sharing them at work sometimes(a maz on), and some workers on the line assumed & asserted that I must have vitamin C poisoning. I looked up symptoms and found Ibuprofen list of symptoms. I think I had all but 2 of them and one of those 2 was Coma! So I stopped immediately. I was going between a 400mg amount and a 600mg amount that had been prescribed for me previously for my Gout pain. I was working and secretly limping into work on a flare-up for about 2 weeks and didn't say anything because I've already been fired when my gout made me unreliable in the eyes of employers/managers in the past. I think it was day ten or eleven that the symptoms overtook me. But you know you do your best and all that, and most importantly it's an excellent lesson that can be learned from my mistake. I haven't yet seen the video, but will watch it as soon as possible. Thanks very much. I'm going to talk to a doctor soon about other important issues, but typing this out has made me realize I should list all of my physical symptoms out for her. Fifteen years ago I suffered serious damage to my stomach lining due to over use of ibuprofen. Now I manage my chronic pain with diet (avoiding inflammatory foods and eating a "blue zone" diet) and exercise. It took me a couple of years to get to this point. I thank Bob, Brad and Chris for pointing me in the right direction. I only use ibuprofen minimally and only when necessary. I have not taken any in the past 6 weeks. @@garfgo I would consider my pain to have been moderate, some days worse. This is what works for me. I do my best to avoid gluten, processed sugar, simple carbs, processed foods, and fatty red meats. Will I occasionally eat pizza and cake at my grandkids birthday parties? You bet I do, but in moderation. I do have minor pain daily, but it is more like discomfort and very tolerable. Diet, some morning stretches, strength training with resistance bands and weights under 4 lbs 2-3 times a week. Walking and cycling. For several years I have followed Bob and Brad's stretching & exercise recommendations which really helped. Not until I finally dialed in my diet did I feel like a new man. Now if I have pain I will first go to ice or heat before considering a pill. I am not 100% pain free but I can easily live with these results. Hope this helps. There’s a medication the doctors prescribed to protect those cells from becoming cancerous that works great, but it costs $800/month, even with Medicare it’s $250-$300/month. Because I can’t afford that medicine, I have to take an older medication that doesn’t stop acid reflux fully, which means I will eventually get cancer of the esophagus. The vet was surprised it happened so quickly. The dog spent the last two years of her life in renal failure, as it turned out, with little joint pain, I didn’t go back to the vet, It needs to be pointed out that GSDs can have a sensitive stomach. My son was popping Ibruprofen for various pains and strains and I believe it has caused the colitis he now suffers with. Excedrin is a brand of acetaminophen (paracetamol) with caffeine for headaches... I worked as a toxicology tech in a hospital which ran the county wide emergency drug screening (I am a chemist). Later I worked in pharmaceutical formulation development. Acetaminophen has a fairly narrow therapeutic range (10-20 mg/dL), and toxic side effects (mainly liver damage) above 20-25 mg/dL. Also, avoid any alcohol when using it, as the toxic metabolite from acetaminophen is detoxified by the same enzymatic pathway as is the toxic metabolite of alcohol... and since you will have more alcohol metabolite in you body than that of acetaminophen even if you only had one drink and the enzymes are fine tuned for fructose (fruit sugar - which you should also avoid in large amounts), it will preferentially breakdown the less toxic alcohol metabolite, leaving the more toxic acetaminophen metabolite in the liver, damaging it.

Thanks for considering "people across the pond", as I'm a Dutchman living in Ireland. A lot of meds are named differently in the States. Also, what you call a physical therapist is a physiotherapist in Europe. In Europe a physical therapist doesn't have the extensive training/education that a physiotherapist has. Confusing, but there you go. Ibuprofen is known in Europe under a number of brand names and as generic Ibuprofen or brufen. The strange thing is that I pay about two Euros for 20 tablets (400mg) in the Netherlands while I pay about 7 Euros for the same in Ireland. I get them sent over.

I come from a country that mainly uses paracetamol for common ails and fever. Very rarely did I take ibuprofen even when I lived in the US. But because of my bad case of menorrhagia, ibuprofen has given me some relief and back some control of my life. To me, the effects on other ails are pretty mild when I use ibuprofen but it is very effective for managing my menorrhagia. Talking about NSAIDs, I've had bad back for quite a while (coupled with what I suspect is fibromyalgia) and working to resolve it, but the pain can be so overwhelming, I can't even move around in bed without having excruciating pain sometimes (strangely, extremely bad before and during my periods). I've been recommended this patch with 30mg ketoprofen and I was so surprised that I can literally the relief when I use it on the back n pelvic areas. Although it is far from 100% relief, or even 70%, but it does help quite a bit and I sleep better. I do hope that as I slowly resolve my issues with my back, I will be able to wean off those patches.

Thanks guys! It’s the side effects. I was over dosed on the liquid form in hospital when having my tonsils out. No other health concerns at all but it made me horrifically bilious, eventually just heaving bile every 10 minutes. They gave me an anti-nauseant injection which calmed it down. I’ve discovered it returns about 5-6 hours after taking Ibuprofen now, every time. It seems my liver just can’t handle it and I’m not a drinker! It worries me that it is used so casually because when it goes wrong it’s terrible.

They now say that taking drugs to lower fevers and giving fluids is not the best way. Fever should be left unless its out of control and IV fluids held off because during a fever the body retains fluid. Also its fine for people to not eat for a few days. Digestion burdens the body with extra work when it needs to be fighting the infection. Just give food only when the patient asks for it.

My personal opinion the Dr's sometimes give extra tablets for" in case". I once went to a Dr for stomach pains n he gave me ibuprofen, spasmed, n diclofenac. Lucky I came home n Google the side effects , contra indications n saw all the meds weren't necessary. I took the spasmed for 1 or 2 days n Rubbed my essential oils n I'm fine . I'd rather ask my pharmacist who knows what medicines reactions are to each other. Dr's should diagnose n let the pharmacists prescribe Just an opinion 🤷

Since I used to be in toxicology and pharmaceutical formulation development, I had avoided using anything except enteric coated aspirin unless by doctor's orders, aspirin having the widest therapeutic range (10-100 mg/dL for headaches, 100-200 mg/dL for arthritis, toxic range starting above 250 to 300 mg/dL -- as of 1985). Due to a knee injury, I have had to take Ibuprofen, up until 2 weeks before my gastric bypass surgery, after which I had to take a liquid acetaminophen formulation -- children's version, until after 5 months I could start swallowing it in the pill form. But I try to minimize it due to the narrow therapeutic range and fairly low toxic range.

@@roxannerodriguez7075 If possible, yes, but ibuprofen is more effective for arthritis. Note that I never take large amounts of any of them except when prescribed. I cannot take the aspirin and ibuprofen as yet due to my gastric bypass surgery, will not until my doctor allows me to. Acetaminophen is the only one I am allowed to take, and it is not really effective against the same pains, it does dull them, but does not do as good a job, even at 2000 mg a day, and I generally take a maximum of 1000 mg a day... and I skip days.

Should have mentioned that taking NSAIDs with food doesn’t provide much protection if you are taking multiple doses daily for many days. I am a gastro NP and explain to pts that the NSAIDs block prostaglandins to stop inflammation and pain but unfortunately those same chemicals help to protect the stomach lining. So taking NSAIDs chronically leads to less protection for the stomach and increases the chance for gastric ulcers.
