I think one of the things not talked about enough that this episode also highlights is also the realities of how different lives and environments can effect who you grow up to be. We talk about how great T'Challa was as Star Lord, but we forget that T'Challa was also raised in a loving home, a rich wanting for nothing royal family, and a sheltered environment with a curious outlook and mindset, when he went out into the stars, that was because he wanted to see the universe. Peter never had a choice, he was a kid with a single mom, struggling environment, trying to fight with other kids to protect little animals, and had just watched his mother die and was terrified. He didn't choose to go into the stars, he was torn away from his home and family in a hugely traumatic time, and a grief that he spent most of that life running away from that he wasn't even able to fully process until the end of the first Guardians movie. Who we are and where we came from and how we were raised effects our future, T'Challa was in many ways set up for success in a way that Peter never was and Peter had to struggle to find that right path.

I hope every next what if episode gets darker and darker. Two recent episodes were the best! And even this one ends in potential end of all life besides Ego, cause now there is no one to stop him really, as Peter Quill is just a simple citizen and will be unaware about the use of his powers. Avengers and other powerful beings killed by the collector already, no guardians (on Earth). There is no one to stop Ego really. This universe is doomed as well.

11:00 Disagree! You can’t replace Chadwick but you can recast T’Challa. Chadwick said himself that the character is bigger than him. He also discussed how entertainment industry acts like there’s room for only one black actor at a time. Chadwick was great don’t get me wrong, but there are so many other great actors who can portray T’Challa and make an impact as well. Of course I didn’t know him personally but I’m a huge fan that has listened to every one of his interviews that I could find. Honor him by continuing the story of T’Challa who has been a hero, for black children especially, for the past 60 years. There’s a reason why I’ve heard so many black reviewers and podcasters support recasting T’Challa.
@nutsywaterbelly31153 жыл бұрын
I came here to say something like this (but prolly not as well). Chadwick had that big king energy but we KNOW he's not the only black man who can, who will. There is one clip of Chadwick talking about how there's only ever one big black actor and it makes the world of movies smaller. There are so many 616 stories of T'Challa we can't get if they don't recast. Marrying Storm. Namor rivalry (the definition of on sight). And this show demonstrates how T'Challa is a king in every universe (like Kang is a whole problem in every universe... ). #recasttchalla

@@topnetworkersgroup and he already died once in his own movie. There are so many ways they could swap him out now...Namor uses Atlantis magic to bump him into a new body. He's a variant that gets swapped in some multiverse mix up. Chadwick died IRL, I'd prefer not to relive that unnecessarily in fantasy. I'm excited for the idea of wakanda forever being about all the black girl magic we can get but the prospect of reliving his death ... squared (cause it's Chadwick and T'Challa) has me really concerned.

Love you guys but Augustin, I really disagree with you on the topic that we can never recast T'Challa. I don't think it's a good idea to recast him at this moment in time because, I do agree we should honor Chadwick and what he did with the character. That said, I also think the character of T'Challa is too important to completely abandon for all time (as far as the MCU goes). We would never retire Batman or Superman for all time if an actor was no longer in that role. T'Challa is on that level for a lot of fans. I think we are all still raw from his passing (it's only been a year) but big picture, I would like to hope this isn't the last time we have seen T'Challa in live action. My 2 cents.

Couldn't agree more. Chadwick is....was an exceptional actor. He knew what T'Challa meant. I remember him breaking down into tears when telling the story a cancer stricken boy he visited. He should be not retired.

As a Black Panther fan a T’Challa fan I have to whole heartedly disagree when you guys say they shouldn’t recast. I know Chadwick did a great job but someone else could do just as good or better in this role. It’s not fair to people like myself who waited basically their whole life to see this character on screen. I’m 27 years old and I remember being 13/14 just searching for information I could find on a possible Black Panther movie. We as Black Panther fans absolutely deserve to see more of T’Challa just like even one else gets that experience. If these studios would have stopped putting the Joker in Films after Heath Ledger died Joaquin Phoenix would have never had the opportunity to win an Academy Award for Joker. I get that everyone loved Chadwick and he was great but this could be a huge opportunity for another Black actor to have a leading role in Hollywood and I feel like that’s what Chadwick would want in the end. So I’m asking everyone to think about those things. I know people are still sad and hurting but it doesn’t mean that fans of this Character should have to be hurt and lose the opportunity to see there favorite Character on screen again.

I 100% disagree with not recasting T'Challa. It would be a disservice to all of Chadwick's hard work to just end the character at this time. There are so many stories left to explore. T'Challa should be a generational character like Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent, and James Bond. I can appreciate the difficulty of Fiege's decision, but it would be the easy (and wrong) way of dealing with it. There is a way to provide a reason for his absence and then recast and bring the character back after Wakanda Forever. As the family said, it was the honor of Chadwick's career to bring T'Challa to life. Continuing to build the character would truly honor his legacy.
