What If All Pokémon Were Dual Typed? (Kalos)

As the only one off region in series history, Kalos may have been ignored by the game developers but that doesn't mean the Pokémon suffered as a result. There are some great designs, and more than ever this place is filled with dual type Pokémon, so how about we finish the job? (Plus, this is where they added the Fairy type!)

We still don’t have a Fairy-Ground type afaik. Xerneas has a signature move called Geomancy, and it is called Geomancy in other languages too. Do you know what geomancy is?

Plus, it would make it so their types would each be weak to each other, with Xerneas' Fairy Typing defeating Yveltal's dark, but Yveltal's Flying defeating Xerneas' Grass. A balance, Just like life and death.

I always thought the Gogoat line was Normal/Grass, since they look like regular goats for the most part. Was actually shocked to learn they weren't, with how many other Pokemon got the Normal typing in the Kalos region. I would also argue that Xerneas could easily be a Fairy/Grass type. I think it should have been, to be honest. - it hibernates in the shape of a tree and lives in forests - it spreads life, such as plant life and all that, and nature is easily one of the first things to come to mind when you think of life - its signature move is Geomancy, meaning magic of the Earth. This might sound like it argues for Ground type, but the land is also all the plants, which could just as easily work into the naming of this move - it learns many Grass type moves. - it has a more balanced dynamic with Yveltal this way. Dark/Flying to Fairy/Grass works out much better when there's a whole other Pokemon to make sure these two forces stay balanced.

Definitely agree with Fairy/Grass Xerneas. And, honestly, with some of the other picks I feel like Emperor Cubone makes many of his selections just to drum up more discussion in the comments. Though, while Normal would make plenty of sense with Gogoat, I can certainly get behind Ground/Grass, even if only to contrast with the Deerling line. (Rock might also work, depending on if you ascribe more to it being mountain breed based over plains breed based for its goat inspiration.)

I've never understood why Spritzee isn't a flying type. Pretty much everything else that has wings is one and Spritzee is ALWAYS shown flying.

I get it in Spritzee's case, but keep in mind that aside from the Doduo family, anything with wings that doesn't fly or glide (Torchic family, Piplup family, Galarian Farfetch'd family, Mega Absol, etc.) doesn't get the Flying type. Even a few that do fly like Heracross, Volbeat, and Illumise don't always get it.

I understood most of the typings you gave, very clever reasons too, but I felt like Xerneas should’ve been giving the grass type, it’s antlers kinda look like a sorta “tree of life” thing, not to mention deers are usually seen with a close connection to nature, it would also make a cool match with Yveltal, seeing how now it’s flying type counters the grass type but it’s dark type is weak to it’s fairy.

I'd say the Goomy line should be part water type. Sliggoo evolves when in the rain, and the line can learn a bunch of water type moves. Also, Absol can't fly with it's wings since they are made of bones, so I'd say fairy works better. It does have a fae look after all.

I think Manectric-Mega could have been Electric/Fire (A typing currently only on Rotom-Heat) It just learn all the fire moves it needs like ever. (Fire Fang, Flamethrower, Overheat and Flame Burst) We have seen megas gain a type just because of their movepool before (Gyarados and Lopunny)

I think the dark type would've been more fitting, honestly. Other than how many fire type moves it's able to learn (and I do think it SHOULD be able to learn Fire Blast as well), nothing about Manectric really screams fire type to me personally. I also think becoming part dark type would work particularly well here with it gaining the intimidate ability after mega evolving

Mega manectric should be Electric/Fire. The pokedex entries talk about how it can't control its electrical power. What happens to uncontrolled electricity? It causes fires! The blue lower torso could be equated to blue flames. Also you should make a recap video after the end of the series that covers good suggestions from the comments :)

I think sylveon should be fairy bug because: 1 the fairies lives in the forests, which are plagued with bugs 2 has literally butterflies in its design 3 Kalos has only one evolutionary line of bug tipes, and needs more 4 sylveon doesn't seem to have any weight like the bugs, and gives lives to the flowers, like a lot of bugs

personally I think it is better as a flying type. bug is too conotated "litteral arthropode" while flying is more vague and elemental. The butterflies argument works with flying too, litterally everything live in the forest, the fact it has no weight sounds more flying like too me and the evolutionary line thing isn't an argument, when you start thinking this way you see bugs everywhere.

This is definitely a nitpick, though I do notice a mistake. Frogadier actually wouldn’t be weak to both of Quiladin’s types. Flying resists grass, so Frogadier would be neutral to grass and weak to rock. Good video regardless!

Poison fits Spritzee and Aromattise better than Psychic. Plague germs could be considered a poison, and it’s said that their smell is overwhelmingly powerful. I think Swirlix and Slurpuff should get the Flying type. Swirlix is seen floating about, and they both appear to be light and airy, so I think it fits well. Xerneas should be half-Grass, since it slept as a tree for 1,000 years and gives life energy to those around it. If it has to get a new type, Flying is also a better fit for Mega Mewtwo Y. I mean… it floats. That’s kind of its thing, and as it is it doesn’t even get Levitate! Ice fits well for Kyogre, to balance out Groudon and because… well… it just kind of fits well.

Alola to Alola! 1. Litten would be Fire-Normal, whereas Torracat could gain the Fighting type for just a bit (also reference to the sneaky webiste that stated that Torracat's front-arms were stronger, so everyone and their grandma panicked thinking they would give us another Fire-Fighting) 2. Popplio would go Water-Normal, while his evolution Brionne would follow Primarina and become a Water-Fairy type. 3. Yungoos's line should gain the Fighting type in order to counter the invader Alolan Rattatas. I would have put the Dark type for its resemblance with the 45th President of the United States, buuuut i'm not THAT based 4. Grubbin should get the Ground type for its ability to dig holes underground, as seen in the anime. 5. Crabrawler should get a Ground type since the original animal this Pokémon is based on (the coconut crab) is a landcrab, and not a sea crab. 6. Rockruff is though, but easy at the same time. For its base form, i would say Rock-Normal, but here's the kicker. For the Midday form of Lycanroc, I would give him the Fighting type, due to it being the most loyal and strong of the trio; for the Midnight Form, I would give it the Dark type due to the plethora of Dark type moves it learns and due to the fact it looks like a werewolf, one of the sacred monsters in the horror movie/ novel genre; finally, for the Dusk, I think I'm going to go extra nuts and give him the Psychic type, because of the evolution scene in the anime, with the green eyes reminding me of psychic powers being imbued into Ash's Rockruff, also for being the only form to stay perfectly in the middle, being not too hero, nor too evil. 7. Wishiwashi is simple: Normal for the small fry, Dragon for the School Form. 8. For Mudbray's line I thought about Ground-Normal for the bab donkey, while Ground-Steel for its evo. 9. Fomantis's line should be Grass/Bug. Because WHY GAME FREAK. IT'S A FREAKING MANTIS, WHY NOT GIVE THEM THE BUG TYPE I KNOW YOU DID THE ERROR WITH LEAVANNY, BUT STILL. 10. Bounsweet's line should be a no brainer. Grass-Fairy due to its cuteness and beauty (they also appear in beauty products spots). Next! 11. Passimian is almost as easy as the Bounsweet line: Fighting-Grass, due to them being a prominent creature living most of their lifetimes in the jungle. 12. Pyukumuku: Water-Poison. I know it's been done and done may times before, but hear me out. When sea cucumbers are attacked, they expel their inner organs (and a gonad) out to scare their attackers, and the inner organs are stinging/mildly poisonous to the touch. 13. We've arrived to the masked elephant in the room. Despite Silvally having all the types available, the same can't be said about its pre-evolution. So I've come to the sad conclusion of giving him a Normal-Steel type, due to the heavy mask and the steel-cold expression in its eyes. 14. For Cosmog and Cosmoem , I thought they could do a training passage between the two forms: that being said, Cosmog should be Psychic-Ghost, due to its tricky nature of constantly teleporting people both in the game AND the anime, while Cosmoem should be Psychic-Steel because, despite the fact that it's a literal corpse Pokémon, it weighs almost a ton. AND ASH/LILLIE STILL MANAGE TO HOLD IT IN HIS HAND/HER BAG. THE ABSOLUTE MADPEOPLE. 15. Xurkitree should be Electric/Ghost due to its eerie presence, almost resembling a ghost (like Slenderman or Siren Head). 16. For Necrozma in his "Opaque" form, i decided to go Psychic-Dark, due to it being a creature that seeks light to absorb from other dimensions, consequentially leaving them in the darkness. 17. Poipole should be a Poison-Bug because of its appearance and most importantly because it is too small to be a dragon. Maybe Poison-Fairy could be a better stretch, but I digress. 18. Zeraora shouts me the Fighting type due to its gallant spirit and its physique. I mean dude, they literally made him one of the starting champions in Unite, and in that game he can use Fighting-type moves, why not give him the Fighting type? 19. Last but not least the Mandela effect / Schroedinger's cat equivalent of the Pokémon kingdom, Meltan and Melmetal. I think they should go with the Steel-Electric, without thinking it twice. Or Steel-Poison due to them being made of mercury. That's all for the Alola dex, but I still miss the Alola forms, so here they are! 1. For Alolan Vulpix. I would go safe and give her the Psychic type, due to having mystic powers ike its evolution, but not THAT much to deliver the fairy type. 2. For Alolan Meowth, I would go the extra mile and give him the Ghost type, due its mischievous nature. Also only ghosts would like the pancake-shaped face of Persian... eugh. Spooky.

While I 100% agree with Furfrou should stay as pure normal, I’m surprised you didn’t think about giving it part water since it’s based of the poodle dog breed which was originally breed to be water retrieving gun dogs like labradors and golden retrievers before becoming show dogs. The poodle’s dog show haircut are also speculated to be one of the inspiration for the modern float vests.

in my opinion: clawitzer should've been fighting, steel is perfectly fine already, and is honestly probably the best option, but giving it fighting would not only give it stab on aura sphere, but would also just be plain cool since its a gun lobster mega alakazam should've been ghost, i dont really know how to explain it, it just kinda... works, i guess, definitely works much better than steel mega absol should've been fairy, yeah. it should've been fairy to begin with primal kyogre should've been dark, i dunno about yall, but flooding the earth and killing almost everything + voring team aqua seems pretty evil, plus it works a lot better than electric other than these, great video!

Flabebé and Floette should actually be bug types, theme wise and all. It'd be more interesting. Then Florges yes, grass type, though for its personality it could totally pull the dark or poison type. Also since they're floating, they could also gain the flying type.

Xerneas should be grass type. It's based on a tree, and the typing would mean that Xerneas and Yveltal would each have a super effective type against the other.

I'd possibly consider Normal/Fairy for Furfrou, though I see why you thought Fighting. But I'd add the Poison type to Spritzee and Aromatisse, in keeping with the plague and perfume theme.

As usual, here are my opinions: - Zero Star: How good that Manectric is here because I still have a problem with it being Dragon type. - One Star: No problem here. Why don't make Absol a Fairy/Dark type, though? The Fairy type would be its Yin to its Dark type's Yang. - Two Stars: As above, Aggron shouldn't be a Dragon type either because it is way too simple to get, breaking the entire balance of the game. Mega Kanghaskan shouldn't have a second type period because its ability makes it already broken enough. - Three Stars: Now with Avalug I do agree with giving it the Dragon type because it is rare enough and that keeps the game from becoming a broken mess.

Goomy is my favourite pokemon but i think dragon/water or dragon/bug would fit the whole line and sure poison works but it say only for sliggoo uses acid tho not goodra and the whole line are slugs/snails and water is connected with them and you need rain for sliggoo to evolve into goodra.

So one missed opportunity I think the franchise really should have considered was giving all the mystical baby Pokemon the fairy type. And replacing the overused psychic typing with fairy. So Mew could be psychic/fairy, Celebi would be grass/fairy, Jirachi would be steel/fairy Victini would be fire/fairy Manaphy would be water/fairy
