32:49 According to the Dev Diaries and the Wiki, the reason why you couldn't get the Market Unification Principle despite being a Trade League is because Market Unification is meant specifically for other Power Bloc types to have similar advantages that a Trade League already possesses. For instance, say one is a Military Treaty and they want to implement more economic elements and advantages into their Bloc. Market Unification allows them to do that. This is evident with the fact that Market Unification III turns the Power Bloc into a Customs Union, but, with a Trade League, you already are a Customs Union.

Thanks! I miss custom unions :( I did hear that they made becoming recognised easier so it might be less of an issue now but at the time of playing making a power bloc as an unrecognised power was later than I'd like.

Hey, i just wanted to say I love your content and your growth over your videos, keep it on mate!. I rly wanted to play austria on this new patch and i think i'll also start by taking silesia from those filthy prussians, seemds, like a good idea. On the other hand, i think going proporcionate taxation from land based is better, it might give you less money at the start, but it's harder to get it if you are on per capita and per capita also taxes your lower pop quite hard (less standart of living, which means less migration, less needs and less loyalists), so you'd rather tax then on a percentage lvl instead of a base lvl.... you'll also get more money later on :P

The manor houses still build the agrarian buildings they just lose substiance farms. Once you get commercial, both capitalists and manors houses build manor houses.

@@SmithySmith Ignore his comment, I think you played generally well. I have a substantial amount of hours in this game (1.1k hours at the time of writing this), so I think I'm qualified to give some constructive feedback for you if you are willing to read through. The feedback I would give in your approach to this are general statements and minor stuff. Apologies if this is long winded. I want to start off by saying that Vic 3 is modeled after historical materialism, which is a Marxian thought that determines that history is guided by material conditions and material necessity (usually contrasted to great man theory, which states that history is shaped by extraordinary leaders or individuals). The reason I say this is to understand how the wheels of progress turns in this game, and also to understand the general socioeconomic of the game. The theories of Marx are obviously too complex to fit in this comment so I will only give brief pointers in relation to the video. I noticed you tried to force progress towards a capitalist economy from a semi-feudal economy by nationalizing the possessions of the land owners, which isn't bad but you have to be industrializing at the same time and make sure they are owned by capitalists (represented by the Industrialist interest group) to really bolster them. Its difficult to have capitalism without capitalists. I would recommend rapidly industrializing through coal mines, iron mines and steel, steel is the backbone of economies. From there you can build tool workshops, engine factories, general consumer factories (furniture and groceries), ect. To touch back on the Marxist theory I pointed out: another important thing to consider with this theory is dialectics. Which essentially points out that things evolve and change into their opposites, given the right conditions. Take the industrialists for example, in the early game they are a progressive force in comparison to the land owners. This is because they provide the means to industrialize. However, they will become un-progressive when the material conditions develop far enough. As with industrialization comes workers to work in the factories and industry, and its in the interest of the industrialists to squeeze out the workers as much as possible. Hence siding with the trade unions in opposition to the industrialists is what you will want to do late game, to bring better laws (such as better taxation, education, healthcare and worker protection laws) to increase the standard of living and the overall strength of the economy. Marxist dialectics also explains why your economy crashed when you played as Egypt. This is what is called the crisis of overproduction, which is a contradiction of capitalism Marx pointed out. This happens when your economy grows beyond its material capabilities, and produces too many goods in proportion to your population and their purchasing power, causing industries to no longer be profitable and crash. You can minimize this by exporting goods, but its only preventing the inevitable. The best way to avoid this for the stretch of the game is getting more migration and expanding your market (either through conquest or integrating nations into your customs union), but be aware that all resources are finite, and capitalism loves to grow infinitely. The constant Italian successions you were experiencing isn't a bug but a feature. All the Italian states have a journal entry for "Risorgimento", which is basically Italian nationalism. This is to reflect the strong nationalist sentiments amongst the Italians in the 19th century, to form a nation state (much like the Germans). Its why they are always seceding, and why I always avoid investing in Venice and Lombardy as Austria, and I let them have their independence. They are too much of a thorn in Austria's side to keep around. If you are worried about the GDP lost in losing Venice and Lombardy, I wouldn't worry. You can get the sulfur from Silesia, only strengthening yourself. If you still want their resources, you can do that even by giving them "independence". What I mean by this is letting them break free, but grab investment rights (either voluntarily or strong-arm them militarily). This way you can build the industries you need and you will own them as a nation if you invest directly (the profits go to you directly), and if you want the actual resources produced you can force them to join your customs union. You can do this with Romania too, especially once they discover their vast oil fields (oil is very important but scarce late game). With dealing with Prussia, taking Silesia was a good first step, but its important to note its a first step. You want to gut the Prussians as early as possible. To do this you want to take Western Prussia along the river Rhine, since its the industrial heartland of Prussia. Then you want puppet them if you can (this will allow you to absorb them when you form Germany/Central Europe). Keep in mind your infamy in the course of doing this of course, you want to balance infamy with the speed you do this (the longer you leave it, the more powerful Prussia becomes and therefore more infamy for doing all this). Another minor nitpick is your pronunciation of the petite/petty bourgeoisie (pronounced bor·zhwaa·zee), which is basically the middle class so you can say that instead. Sorry if this was a long winded feedback, there is probably more to say, but I said a lot already.
Thanks for the reply, love the comment. The only issue I have, is making a video lol. I can't wait for hours so instead I push things forward earlier, thats usually why I dont have the industrialists when I make the changes. Ig I could spend extra time working up my economy at the start. Im not sure if this is the "best" thing to do but I usually try to build up wood, leather, iron and coal at the start as a barebones for construction and other industries. I also only found that to make everything owned by the industrialists the privatisation doesnt happen instantly, so that was a new struggle for me lol. Thanks for all your help tho!
