The Oregon Territory had been a subject of dispute between the United States and British Empire for many years, and though Britain had secured near total control of the territory in the War of 1812, a policy of joint occupation was adopted, allowing the territory to slip from British hands, and full under American control, but what if that changed? What would have happened had Britain never lost the Oregon Territory, and just how could Britain have held onto it?

@@emrysgeibhendach7572found the yank, come on just agree with what legit every country thinks Britain gave up more in the peace deal to stop worrying about North America, it shows after 1812 Anglo America relations basicly always went up. Remember America mediated the Venezuela territory dispute shortly after the war and gave most of Britain's demands and continued to ignore Britain sneaking into South so this shows we didn't lose an ally infact we gained one, a country you can have a relationship like we did in the 1800s was insanely benifiting, even more when you think Europe didn't actually have allies it had friends for short periods of time who had mutual interests It was an attempt to conquer by definition of the word to try to use another is delusion, an attempt to hide the failure and create an argument out of thin air. Britain stopped kidnapping sailors because yes it was agreed but remember the Americans were trading and selling arms to napoleonic. France, weird how when that stopped we didn't kidnap any more sailors. Legit every country think Britain won this war. To think Britain wanted to gain land from this war is wrong, its widely accepted they wanted to end it quick enough to go to the big boy play ground with napoleon it's why we sailed up to you capitol and burnt it or why we bombarded basicly anything on the coast, as sign of brute force to get you to a peace talk. The agreement to stop arming natives in that time isn't a sign of a loss, its was a normal thing for us Europeans to agree to this after a war. The war was status quo but the war being over quick is what Britain wanted. Also fun fact another reason we were boarding ships is some were slave ships and they were being boarded by the west African squadron who goal it was to capture the cargo and crew, take the cargo home or to the empire live a new life and trail the crew for slaving.

That doesn't change the fact that the U.S. would go to war with them at the lastest in the 1840s around the time that we invaded Mexico and it would be for the same reason, and the U.S. would have the capabilty to do it because there actually be a threat to the U.S. in this scenario meaning that U.S. would actuall build up a large and capable military, not to mention that most the people in those areas would be American just like irl.

Japan would clearly become Britain and Northern California and Southern Canada in our world would be like the 13 colonies. Northern Han China would form sort of a HRE of smaller states and be like Germany I imagine.

The larger colony on the west coast is likely to be split in two, so modern day Canada would have two provinces on the Pacific; maybe North Columbia and South Columbia, or New Caledonia and Columbia. The name British Columbia would not be used, as there would be no American Columbia to the south. In our history, when a bill was prepared in Congress to set up the Columbia Territory the proposed name was changed to Washington because of the existence of the District of Columbia.

I'm not sure how heavily those issues will play. The Flemish language issues were indeed a real struggle, but the independence movement only gained track thanks to the Flamenpolitik of the Germans during WW1. It was the French-speaking elite that had a problem with the language policy of Willem 1. The average inhabitant was used to the elite speaking a different language, even in the southern part they didn't really speak French, but closely resembling dialects. Ik think, if Willem's government had exiled the most extreme insurectionists to the Dutch Indies, they could have slowly bled the independence movement out, leaving the moderates in power to negotiate with.

Then Italy doesn't feel so big and doesn't go to war and thus does not become a liability for Germany, thus the invasion of the USSR becomes significantly easier and possibly at best a german victory in the east, which leads to an armistice in the west Or at worst, it just leads to stalemate, then armistice in the east followed by the west and Nazi Germany survives. Yeah, Ethiopia should probably just bite the bullet on that one lol

Cool, now you have to go into the US Civil War from here. My suggestion is that the British reinforce Canada, but remain on the fence in regards to supporting the Confederacy until the battle of Gettysburg. During the July of 1863 & the Battle of Gettysburg, & the draft riots in NYC, British troops move into New England retaking it permanently for the Crown & Canada. When news of the British invasion, New England units engaged in hostilities with the Confederates at Gettysburg pull with draw and head northeast defend their homes. However they will be too late, and will be forced to surrender to the British as they will be too exhausted to fight.

Or even what if Henry V lived long enough to inherit the French Crown and could have molded his weak son Henry VI into a somewhat decent King or at least have other sons/heirs?

Interesting ideas, So my perspective on things continuing here would see the civil war braking out as it did in our time line importantly this brings in the state that both did and did not exist colorado or Southern calafornia. The state being pro CSA and holding a large population would brake off in favour of the confederacy but would exist more as an annoyance to the US as this state would have a major effect on us power in the Pacific and would be supplied by the British. With Lincon still moving the goal of the war to be the liberation of the slaves most foreign support for the CSA would dry up. Interestingly though I could see colorado braking off from the CSA near the end of the war maintaing slavery and placing itself under British protection acting as a hub for slave owners and confederacy supporters to flee too. After the civil war the US would probably want to avoid war with Britain since their would already have been some close calls that could have seen British or French intervention. This now leaves the US with only upper calafornia as its gate to the Pacific, with development having been all but reset on America expansion here the US could likely just cut its loses maybe allowing it to become independent or allow it to become part of the proposed Republic of Deserate. With Deserate being independent it would likely try to remain neutral but would have a preference for America over Britain. Colorado would be a rogue element being technically pro British but also likely to declare war on Mexico for Bajar. America would be anti British but with the US now reliant on the Atlantic would be forced to play nice with Britain who would likely still have to surrender the job of protecting North America to them to focuse on the rest of the world. Overall world history isn't effected to much as nothing here stops the world wars or changes anything like that, interestingly enough British Colombia could become its own nation being rich in minerals due to its wealth and distance from the rest of the Canadian population. Meanwhile Colorado would be oil rich, with all the rest of the trappings of southern calafornia with a government closer to that of the modern republican party but with a higher degree of British influence. And Deserat well its just Mormons.

This a great what-if video Mr. Z, I never knew if Oregon was kept under the British's hands would that means Oregon would be stable but Oregon is already in this timeline. Do you refer to Columbia? Also what if every African country unites and resists European colonization? Which would any African empire with combined forces from different kingdoms resist European colonization if so what are possibilities any mighty forces of Africans with combined armies and lead by their leaders try to invade Europe? Do you think any African Kingdom or Empire with combined forces invade Europe and would Europe be a new land settlement for Africans or would there a major resistance to any other European country? Anyway this great video Mr. Z, but would there a part two for this or that it? I'm glad you still have so many supporters and this channel is running for you're one of my favorites alternate histroains for you're the one who inspires me to like alternate histories by watching your channel.

The US got the good half of the oregon territory :(. I live in BC and Vancouver is boxed into a corner surrounded by mountains. Even when you drive to Bellingham which is close to the border, you already have such a big open area to build more housing; let alone the path along the way to Seattle which is also mostly flat. Instead, we only got Delta and that's reserved for farmland. So, we have no space. The Puget Sound is also what the Brits consider to be a superior harbor. If the borders had been drawn at the columbia river, things would be a lot different. But no, Vancouver's in a valley which is the only viable place for urban settlement in BC

Have you done a video on the opposite scenario; if the US prevailed and took it all, up to 54:40N, cutting off BNA from the Pacific? How would that have affected Confederation a few years later? The purchase of Alaska? Would the remaining western parts of today's Canada ended up American, with Canada being pretty much just Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes? Would there even have been Confederation in the first place?
