Tbh i feel Mas​akoX's version is so good because it feels like a natural change as the story went on. Like it's still frieza as we know him at the start and it's still frieza, just more mellowed out, and with better people around. Some "turned good" what if's really change too much of the core of the character that it feels like a completely different character. instead of a growth it feels like a poor replacement. @LloydTheZephyrian

the only real issue I see with the start of this is Frieza was confirmed to have been born in his final form, his "first" or "base form" with the horns was a suppression he developed over time. Same goes for Second and third form.

I had a similar idea a while ago, except instead of Cooler being behind Freeza being sent to Earth it was a timeline where King Vegeta was much stronger, became a Super Saiyan and killed King Cold, with King Cold sending out his son in a space pod to Earth in hopes he'd grow strong enough to avenge him. Sort of a backwards morality timeline where Freeza was a survivor of a genocided race and the Saiyans became the new evil galactic empire.

Theres actually a very good fanfic about this called 'saviour of demons' I would recommend. Excellent worldbuilding and goes through everything up to the Buu saga. Spoilers, he doesnt wear a turtle school gi, after being spared by goku after coming to Earth he eventually befriends Tenshinhan and Chioutzu, identifying with their darker pasts as assassins. He wears a crane school gi after he is gifted one by Ten, and he learns many of their moves such as solar flare and multiform, as well as key aspects of crane style helping him learn how to fight in a more measured, efficient manner rather than just relying on raw power. Absolutely legendary read, give it a go!

I can see Goku and Yulong’s friendship being something special. Goku would be incredibly driven to surpass Yulong. The former prince will eventually be faced with people who match and surpass him. And if Goku goes Super Saiyan, that could be the inspiration for his golden form; not as a mockery, but as a tribute to his bff. Bet Gohan would think Uncle Yulong is the coolest guy ever.
