Why would Bismarck start a war he clearly can’t win and without aid from Russia, France, or England as friendly belligerents? Why would Russia and England not do anything about the partitioning of Prussia and allow Austrian, Bavarian, and French influence to increase without they themselves benefitting from a a stronger Austria or France?

This is the real big sticking point about this scenario IMO. I'm pretty sure that the coalition, even without Austria, would protest any French expansion into Italy or Belgium, seeing it as little more than a continuation of the napoleonic wars.

I would expect Britain AND Russia would intervene on the side of Prussia as soon as France became involved. Britain to restore the balance power by liberating Belgium and Sardinia and Russia for Galicia Lodmeria as well as possible Serbian lands in Hungary.

A big issue with this scenario is that Bavaria even got the Rhineland and Ruhr in the first place. They get the most important part of Germany just because of a lucky victory against Napoleon, seriously? And it's not like they extended their Saarland territories, they didn't even have those before the Congress of Vienna.

Vidantis doesn’t take the full impact on events in history accurately. He ether puts too much emphasis or not enough just so he can have his scenario outcome. For example Britain wouldn’t let France have Belgium without concessions elsewhere or at all

@@Videntis.History That doesn’t mean they will ignore Europe to the point that they unite behind their backs. Britains foreign policy has always been divide and rule. If Britain allows a local power to have too many ports, even if Britain has more ports, but further away, there is a potential naval arms race to the point that Europe could build ships quicker than Britain can locally, and overwhelm them in a rapid fire naval invasion, conquering the home land. That is why is why Britain won’t let any European nation gain too much power compared to Britain.

@@Videntis.History By your logic Britain would ignore Napoleon, ignore Russia in the period of the Crimean War, ignore WW1, and ignore WW2 on the odd chance Germany didn’t get all they wanted in WW1. You have to take into account the way Governments from each nations rationalise the way the world works in your videos for them to be somewhat grounded in reality.

⁠@@Videntis.Historywouldn’t it make more sense if the Austro-Prussian war never happened, or was a draw keeping a powerful Prussia and creating a three way split where none of the Germans powers: Bavaria, Prussia, and Austria could unite Germany without being stoped by the other two. So the German powers would also act in to keep the situation constant as if Bavaria made a play for unification and Prussia was the only one to stop them then Austria would have handed Prussia a lot of power as they can annex more Bavarian territory without Austria also in the peace deal, so if Bavaria tried that and Prussia tries to stop them then Austria should also join the war to ensure no one can dominate each other.

Amazing map, design choices and storytelling! It feels really good to se another great alternate history channel with great content! Besides, I would suggest, based exclusively on this video, that he tries to make less changes overall in the timeline, or, at least, focusing on the main one. I got the impression that this video could be called what if Napoleon never returned from Elba or what if Bavaria was a third power in the dispute for German dominance. Overall, really fun video! Keep the great job going!

that last war is kinda silly,the UK holds a significant naval superiority against the entire coalition (no,Naples isn't going to turn that around by themselves),and all the battle on land happen on a very stable front in the east,Serbia would be absolutely mauled,then prussia and russia would have to hold by themselves pretty much the rest of the european armies on a single front (pre WW1 Russia and an extremely weakened Prussia,so they will get pounded,why would anything else happen ? because of british volunteers ? lol) while britain pretty much can pick up any colonies they want nearly uncontested. The only thing that could turn the war in the allies favor would be having the ottomans/spain turn to their sides in the middle of it to do a surprise attack on the back of the front,and even then,I wouldn't count on it

I don't think Prussia would attack Austria in this timeline. In our timeline they had coordinated their efforts with the Italians to even the numbers - here they would be outnumbered 3-1 from the start. Bismark was too smart to start a war he couldn't win.

Great video. The only gripe I have is that Napoleon II would have only been 17/18 in 1828, making it unlikely for him to have been elected as president instead of just being instated as monarch, timeline would still work if you just moved the fall of the Bourbons forward a few years or have him be invited to launch a coup by Bonapartists sometime after the Republic had been established in the late 1830s or early 1840s

@Videntis.History really needs to do a Napoleonic sweep scenario for our Napoleonic wars, then implementing more realistic expectations from the death of Napoleon 1st in the 1830s, maybe 1840s (lives longer due to better physical and mental health in a victory scenario). Best case scenario for this European state is that the French Empire decentralises and shares its power with some German states to create stability, creating a Napoleonic equivalent to the Austro-Hungarian Empire with its shared power. The Franco-(insert whatever German coalition) Empire shall rule the continent.

fun fact, Sweden-Norway and Denmark had a "Sort Of" Alliance in which they would protect each other if any conflict arose between them and an enemy, like if Sweden was forced to join the Crimean war. This was known as Scandinavism, but it went nowhere because Sweden "Failed" to help Denmark against Prussia and Austria. If Sweden-Norways manpower was combined with Denmarks surprisingly modernish weapons they could've potentially hold out against the Austrian and Prussian invasion. Leaving Prussia even more humiliated, and perhaps losing their Rhine territory. And ending with another unified Scandinavia.

Bavaria winning against Napoleon is ok, but the coalition would never consider them a military power just because of that, they would be instantly coerced to give Napoleon to Austria, it being the most reasonable of the great powers, in this scenario some french Marshals surrender and others try to rescue the Emperor and hold the country together, in the end France loses some lands and is allowed to keep Belgium, Louis XVIII returns, Bavaria gets a piece of Wuttenberg and that's about it

Hello PH, i have a Video-wish that you could make, if you want. The Idea is that the Austrian painter is actually friendly and nice, and if he wants his land back, he asks Diplomaticly. I got this idea because im German and its a shame that i cant be proud of my country, especially because of the Holocaust and War crimes during world war 2. So i just thought about it and it seems cool for me. I hope you could do this idea, when its fits in your schedule.

I personally think that the first war of italian independence would not go this way since in our timeline despite Austria winning, Sardinia-Piedmont didn't lose any territores. By the way I agree on everything else

The 1848 revolutions started in France initially, so they wouldn't happen in the same way here probably in a different year if at all.
