Ironically, I don't believe countries are likely to use nukes in wars at all, even if it's a world war. Fear and mutual respect for the other's world destruction power prevents everyone from initiating the nuclear war. I believe even a great power would not use nuclear weapons even to save itself from defeat, because the consequences for using them would be worse than just accepting defeat.

I've got a fan fic in my head where Napoleon wins the Napoleonic wars in a landslide, and then the continental system is reorganized is a co-Empire (like Austria-Hungary) between France and Germany in the 1840s. This super state then completely dominates mainland Europe, eventually conquering the British Isles, all of Africa, the Middle-East, Greater Russia, Greater India , and only stopping at around China and Japan because they would develop nukes by then. America would also be spurned on by the French to conquer the Americas in their pro-Napoleon anti-everyone who is against Napoleon (especially the British) zeitgeist. The Map looks like the map of Code Geass, but Europa United is more OP than Britannia and Britannia is liberal.

I said they would be waging war under the same logic that the Germans thought were using that made them estimate that the war would last 1 year. Think of what I said in the same way as me saying the generals of WW1 in 1914 tried to fight WW1 under the same logic as the Napoleonic wars with some adjustments. Sorry for not being clear. I do agree with you partially. I wonder how the boom in German population and the increased levels of mechanisation in the context of WW1 era fighting would cause such a war to play out. The loss of a quick victory will doom the Nazis, and I wonder if there might be another, to put it in their terms, mutilated peace for the Germans to cut their losses, or perhaps they try turning the Western front into a meat grinder and hope the allies agree to let Germany have their eastern European holdings. Depending on how the war goes, the allies might agree to the latter out of fear of the soviets being proportionally stronger than the depleted allies. To put it another way, the allies fell into the trap the Soviets set with the implications of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. While Blitzkrieg as a method of waging war would be developed a year into this war, it wouldn't be able to be implemented with anywhere near the same effectiveness in Western Europe.

@@vrdfrdcf That would apply to France though, Germans already had given up the Napoleonic tactics as soon as 1866 war with Austrian Prussian war, only France though more of fighting gloriously than reinventing tactics, only the catastrophic casualties in insane bayonet charge against machines guns and shrapnel artillery of the 1870 war were Germans were ducking and shooting in prone position from a km away this was forbidden in France army despite having better guns and technology they used the same tactics and ww1 forcibly made France change it's tactics as they were doing the same.

The Franco-Prussian war is definitely more in line with how the French initially perceived WW1 to be at the start of the war. @@vrdfrdcf Massive use of gas and chemicals attacks via bombers and artillery targeting both the well defended trenchs and the industrial cities, it would be much worse for everyone involved in the end with millions more deaths. Germany would have won not by reaching Paris but thanks to it's industrial capabilities to produce enough gas to make entire cities get emptied out in just a week, depending on the casualties of the Luftwaffe with this tactic being more deadly than any bombs, Uk might have been forced to also sign an armistice just like France did after a massive launch of Bombers and V1 and V2 filled to the brim of poisonous gas canisters. A very grim scenario in the end.

There wouldnt be a factory in western europe able to make more than a large truck. The population of Europe would be halved, if not quartered, after nearly a century of brutal war. Annexation and integration would be breif. Because there would not be enough numbers, nor sadly will, to resist at that point.
