Fix for the war bug: Save your game, then load that savegame. Annoyance from the bug: 250% annoying.

For that war screen bug, I believe I found that exiting to the menu and then loading a save fixed it. Anyways, if this does work, could you perhaps view the Old World Blues mod before November ends (or after). I think you'd like the chaos they've created now.

Another comment suggested you play TNO. Now, that's unpopular in this community, but...why not? There's a lot to read, but fwiw that's technically optional, and playing in Russia or *especially* as one of the nuclear superpowers (US, Germany, Japan), there's a lot of Cold War proxy conflicts to fight, and those can be quite fun! imo, anyway
