The original concept for this was, "How much can I take out of Gloomwood without breaking it?", but things just kind of evolved from there. Anyways, as promised, here's the links I mentioned in the video. That hurt my brain and soul to see that people are actually complaining about the visuals of Gloomwood. It's a homage to the classics while also constraining the fidelity to make it manageable for the devs to complete.

and it also looks beautiful?? the environments are a TREAT not to mention the weapon and enemy designs and animations

Every damn video of Ephi, makes me feel like i went out to a bar with a fellow student but he thinks its a date.
@EphiTV8 ай бұрын
Talking to someone for 10 minutes straight with no response would be a pretty bad date.

i dunno aNYTHING about code at all, but i like watching you go through it and explain what it does. my brain goes "hmmm yes, it all makes sense now, i understand" even though i definitely don't understand
@EphiTV8 ай бұрын
Lol I try to explain the general idea of what I'm going for without getting too deep in to it. I definitely don't expect everyone to understand all of it.

Been a while since I played and the game has gone through a lot of changes in Early Access since then. Figured it was a good time to take another look.

Can't believe that people complain about the base graphics for this game. Tbh your bare bones version is more aesthetically pleasing as someone who grew up with 90s games than the base game
@matt92hun7 ай бұрын
Some interesting thing about Unity is that you can make a game look worse than, say, Far Cry, but it will somehow still run worse than FC would on the same, contemporary computer.
@EphiTV7 ай бұрын
Old games had to be super optimized for PCs at the time. Nowadays we can get away with more, but graphics are only one piece. Gloomwood has some pretty complex systems (like the AI) that wouldn't be possible on old machines.
@matt92hun7 ай бұрын
@@EphiTV It's not just Gloomwood. I bought up Far Cry as an example, because I remember that Strafe and Project Warlock ran really badly on my old computer that was perfectly capable of running some of the best games of the mid 2000s.
