It's a wild decision to make part of the device to look modular when it's not detachable. Its insane that it uses the same chip as the iPhone 3G. That was my first smartphone. It was incredible. The number of great games I played on that thing... doesn’t seem this iriver thing could’ve managed anything even remotely close. It’s nuts!

It still looks modern by today’s standards, it reminds me of my old Zune HD. I really love the design. I think iRiver bit off more than they could chew with the cpu they put in it, it looks like a lag fest. Maybe slightly faster hardware would make it more enjoyable to us. People really underestimate how ahead of the game Apple was compared to the competition in the early 2010’s, everyone was playing catchup until around 2015 when innovations started slowing down in the smartphone market. Neat video!

Imagine trying to compete with the Zune instead of the iPod. You’re already losing if you’re trying to imitate a failure. I loved my Zune HD so much though, super ahead of its time, but this definitely looks more like the original Zune models in terms of interface and aesthetic. It’s good that Microsoft didn’t implement a touch screen onto the zunes until they nailed the responsiveness like the Zune HD did.

Damn, I didn't expect this unknown device to have a Wolfson DAC.... For those uninitiated, back in the early 2010s Wolfson DACs were all the rage for audiophiles back then, due to its good output sound quality on smartphones for the time. People do forget this brand pretty quickly though as TWS starts becoming popular....and also because of LG taking all the spotlight with their Quad-DAC solution, which adds a proper amp in addition to a dedicated higher-end DAC solution - making them actually capable of running power-hungry headphones. If I'm correct, the Samsung Galaxy S6 was the last Android phone to come with a Wolfson DAC. Fwiw I owned one myself, and while 3.5mm still sounds good (with 24-bit audio file playback using Poweramp) the lack of a proper amp really harms it bad time with power-hungry IEMs.

Oh, yes. The Iriver. At some point the iriver took a turn for the worse. This was most visible around 2010. It might be possible, considering how the firmware upgrade mechanism works on this model.
