My guess is Krillin & Vegeta start to fight, Krillin does a solar flare, Krillin & Dende head to Guru's place, and Guru gives Krillin a dragon ball while telling Nail to accompany Krillin on Krillin's search. Vegeta refuses to go back to Freeza to avoid humiliation and/or death for failing, and Freeza send Zarbon to retrieve Vegeta.

The interesting thing about this whole thing is that, of Goku were to do fusion with Krillin... Their fusion form is more likely to be able to use Kaio-Ken then the fusion between Goku & Vegeta since Krillin learned how to use this attack as well as Goku did.
