Everyone complains about the set up and tear down, but if you and your friend you're playing with tackle it together, it goes VERY fast.

9/10 gameplay overall, but setup still is the bane of the hame

I'm in the same position as Roy, I have more Legendary: Marvel than normal person should have (missing like the 2 newest expansions and I think 2 or 3 of the old, very hard to get now, ones). Except the game still hits the table on regular basis, and is for sure the most played game and a favorite 2 player game for me and wife. The variety all those expansions provide is unmatched, the changes to each playthrough provided by Schemes, Masterminds, randomized Hero pool keeps the game fresh while keeping it comfortably familiar. I'm mostly excited for the new basic cards, especially starter deck cards as all this basic stuff from the core set you need in each game has been trough a lot and I've been contemplating just buying a new core set. The artwork on those look great so I'll definitely be playing with those Scheme Twists, Master Strikes, Wounds and probably will mix basic bystanders and Maria/Nick 50/50. The playmat is a nice addition to be honest. All veterans of the game probably already picked up their own neoprene mat at some point, but it will be great for newcomers. The old cardboard board was folding into 6 pieces and it would just eventually start falling apart from being unfolded and folded back up all the time. I really hope this brings some new faces to the game and maybe we will finally get a reprint of that X-men expansion. Also, I'm not sure the setup/teardown criticism that is so often directed towards this game is that valid. I feel like setup (with my amount of content) is about 5 min and teardown under 10, and if everyone at the table grabs a deck to sort out it can be about 5 mins. Meanwhile there are so many Euros with 100s of components you need to put on the right place of the board before the game starts (like Darwins Journey, Golem, Bitoku being few I recently played that come to mind) and setup time is never discussed.

Hey I see that there’s a very heavy wording load on the cards. My question is: doesn’t it feel to burdensome having to read tons of text for every card? Thanks
@rav3style10 ай бұрын
it doesn't, sometimes the keywords are explained on the card itself.

Legendary setup isn't that bad. Comparing it to Champions is odd. Champions requires more setup, you just do it before you play the game.

They actually came out with the Marvel Studios Phase One stand alone game a few years ago.

I completely disagree with how onerous setup is, and I wish the Dice Tower would stop repeating that criticism over and over. I can do setup in less than 5 minutes. I know that for a fact because I've timed it. Not racing, just going at a normal pace. That's starting with a closed box. There are only 2 decks to assemble and shuffle, the Hero deck and the Villain deck. If I have just one other person to help shuffle, we can do it in less than 3 minutes! And I'm a very thorough shuffler. If it takes you longer than that, you're doing it wrong. Joey is right though: having your cards organized with dividers is absolutely key to fast setup, and, for what is supposedly a new base set and not just an expansion, not including dividers in this box is a big mistake by Upper Deck. Roy is also wrong that there hasn't been another Marvel Legendary base set since the Legendary: Villains release in 2014. The Legendary: Marvel Studios Phase 1 base set was released in 2018.

this game is a 9/10 no question. Amazing gameplay and expansions that allow for infinite replayability. can't wait to get this game

I agree, i’ve never understood that criticism. I feel like it’s less than equal or less than dominion and other similar games

So you need to modify the game storage solution to make it a quick setup? Time the setup without the dividers you made and giving it to someone who has never see the game up before. I sold all my Legendary sets because setup was such a pita. Completely agree with Roy here, there are just better games without any setup.
@DarthEd7710 ай бұрын
@@W0lfman250 You don't have to modify anything. You just need need to add some dividers to organize the cards. Simple 3x5 index cards cut to an appropriate size work perfectly fine. Also, Upper Deck sells dividers separately, and plenty come with the other Legendary base sets. The primary audience of Marvel Legendary fans are used to making their own labeled dividers (BGG has tons of fan-made, ready-to-print dividers), but they should have been included for people new to Legendary or who aren't into DIY.
