The Blackwater heist would never have been attempted as Hosea advised against it.

Let's look at Milton first. He did lie the first time we see him. He said he worked for the US government. However, this would be impossible as the Anti-pinkerton act was passed in 1893 making it illegal for the federal government to use private companies for law enforcement and specifically the Pinkertons. He certainly could be working for a state, local, or private person but he specifically says US government several times. Most people think the bounty poster at Micahs camp means he was going to turn Dutch in but I disagree. I believe Micah needed a gang to help with jobs specifically Blackwater. He saw Dutch's poster and saw an opportunity to get Dutch to do the job. I even think he went so far as to fake saving Dutch's life to insure he made an impression. Once in he talked Dutch's ear off on the Blackwater job hopeful it would be a huge payout for him. When things went wrong and the money was hidden he knew only Dutch and Hosea knew where and Dutch was the one he could convince as Hosea didn't trust Micah. So why betray the gang later. Micah was looking out for himself and thought he could play both sides. I think he did this by feeding Milton some information but nothing that would put Dutch in danger. I think he told them were thr camp was while they were robbing the train in chapter 6 in the hopes Milton would kill or capture all the "dead weight" as he called them. With them gone Dutch would be more inclined to go back to get the money. Micah had many times he could have just turned Dutch in but he didn't. Even after getting the money years later he didn't turn him in. Dutch was a victim of ego. He says several times people in the government are idiots and febal. He thought himself smarter than everyone else. When his plans didn't work, it could be because of him, so he got paranoid about a traitor. The game was its own worst enemy. They draw too much attention. The first few missions in chapter 2 consist of starting a huge fight in town for everyone to see, getting recognized by Jimmy Brooks, a drunk Reverend playing cards with strangers, and talking too much. Mary finds Arthur, even Mrs. Downes finds the camp. Bill is regularly drinking and talking to people. The truth is it's a miracle the gang lasted as long as it did. I don't think Blackwater would have happened without Micah, and even if it did, Dutch was the gangs downfall, Micah just made it faster.

Actually the blackwater massacre is quite similar to the gta 5 prologue heist both were denied by the wiser sort of planner character ended with multiple members being shot and the fact it's possibly a set up

Imo, Micah is a reckless angry mess and is far too unpredictable to have pulled that heist off, so to answer the title, i dont think the heist would have been successful.
