Nolan Davis idiot, the best modern era season is 1992!!! If you were old enough, you would know that!!! 5 drivers enter the final race of the year with a championship in sight but Allen walks away with the title by 5 points!!! He came from almost 300 points back with 6 races to go to win the title!!!! Know what the hell you are talking about before posting anything!!!! This is a FACT BASED COMMENT!!!

8:49 - If NASCAR still had the Winston Cup points format, this 2nd place finish would’ve clinched the championship for Carl Edwards a week early because he gained three positions on Johnson and finished within six or more positions of Harvick. That would’ve locked up the title for Carl Edwards

The 2011 Chase was my favorite. My two favorite drivers tying for the championship, my favorite getting the tiebreaker. It was a nail biter but also very hard to root for one over the other. Carl Edwards had probably the best Chase/Playoffs of any non-champion ever, despite not winning in them that year. i'm not surprised it took a win at Homestead to steal the championship from him. he led in 8/10 races (which offered points back then) and had a worst finish of 11th at Talladega. he had SEVEN 2nd place finishes throughout the year that, had any of them been a win, we would be talking about Carl Edwards as a champion

Another thing to consider - Playoff drivers would not have been able to compete in the lower series, meaning Kyle Busch's run-in with Ron Hornaday during the truck race at Texas wouldn't have happened. Kyle wouldn't have experienced all of the fallout from that incident, the suspension from the Cup race and Mars pulling its sponsorship for the rest of the year. Maybe we could have seen a different final four or a different champion, but I still believe Tony would have pulled it off.

David Buell I’m a Stewart fan & the best of his non Winston titles was 2005, HE EARNED IT THAT YEAR!!!! 2009 should have been Tony’s if not for the stupid chase/playoff system!!!! What you people need to know is this, you can’t make racing the same as ball sports!!! You can’t go running 26 races & all of a sudden you hit rest for 10-16 drivers & start over with 10 races left!!! The prime example of this being a failure is the Busch boys!!! Kurt in 04 was never in the top 5, he was almost out of the top 10 actually!! He was 8-9 when the chase started & got lucky most of those 10 races & was given a title over Gordon, who was the real champion & I hate Gordon!!! Then you have Child in 15 who missed the first 3 months of the season because he broke his leg in the nationwide race!!! Nascrap let’s him have a “slide pass” into the chase/playoff if he wins a race & gets in the top 30 by Richmond!!! Proof this system is a complete failure!!!
