Paper Mario also got decomped. So i guess that was a huge help for making this hack possible. So glad we live in a timeline where we finally decompile N64 Games for incredible Romhacks. Seeing the Paper Mario and OoT hacking Community shine like this always puts a smile on my face.

I'm actually playing this mod right now. I wanted to go back to 64 after playing TTYD since it's been forever since I played it. Tip for Ant if he sees this. The Shine sprite in Toad town back alley is accessible when you find it. You just need to figure out how to reach it. For anyone else checking out the hack, for the Fuzzy stomping minigame in the warehouse. Jumps work a bit better than the hammer since you can hit multiple fuzzies that way.

Just having those time saving QoL features would be amazing. The story and dialogue are great, but the thing that brings me back is always the combat and playing with different level ups, badges, and partners, so being able to rush through more of the story bits is great.

Did they raise max BP from 30 to 99? BP capping at 30 in PM64 was so lame. This mod is AMAZING. Will have to try this out for myself. Partner HP and item usage is such a game changer! Thanks for showing this off Ant! 😁👍

If you know what you're doing its easy to do insane damage and a 10 hp run without abusing peril/danger for even more damage..... 99 bp in the OG would be retarded I bet you could wear every badge. Which why do I have a feeling this would cause the game to crash while attacking.

I was always bummed that the original was limited to 30bp. Now that im older I realize that the entire badge system was designed around the 30bp limit. The game would be broken without that limit.

If Paper Mario 64 was more like TTYD, it would have much more narrow, corridor-like levels with a lot more meaningless backtracking. Seriously, I wish the leveldesign of TTYD would be a lot more like PM64.

I too enjoy the joy of infinite Bombette stylish. Speaking of, the whole stylish system is a carry-over from one of El-Dexter's previous mods "Black Pit". High recommend to any Paper Mario fan. It a full mod built around the Pit of 100 trials, but in Paper Mario 64. Got it's own story and everything. Got so much original content, though one of my favorite things is the "Rouge-like Pit", which like it sounds, takes the Pit of 100 trails and turns it into a Rouge-like game. Speaking of Paper Mario mods. Highly recommend people who enjoyed this to look up the modding Discord. There's actually a ton of Paper Mario mods in there alone, especially if you don't mind more small scaled ROM hacks. They recently did a Game Jam so there's a bunch of little mods just focused around original boss fights. Star Rod is such an amazing tool that makes Paper Mario modding accessible to so many people so I only image the scene getting bigger as time goes on. Oh, if you do continue to play this. Use Goombario to tattle new NPCs and areas. There's some neat dialogue there like the Easter Egg tied to plump Goomba.

big agree with your commentary, love these mods and hope to create my own at some point, when i stop letting World of Warcraft distract me. i have such ideas as; Paper Mario: The Revenge of Madam Hiss, Paper Luigi which is Luigi's adventure that takes place as Mario is in Rogueport doing his thing, Paper Wario and Bowser's Darkside Chronicles.

Unpopular take, this is my fav Paper Mario game, this is where the pillars of the franchise are established, where Mario RPG was the foundation. One can say TTYD perfect it, but I don't personally like some aspects of TTYD that would be a problem later, like, preferring original characters in the place of classics, hit and miss humour, paper gimmicks and so on Either being your fav like is to me or not, glad to see the community injecting life again into it. It's very deserved for this great game

So the new areas besides going behind the building in toad town and new rooms are just caves / mini games? I always wanted more areas too but I want like expansions of ways already there . Like man if we just had one more screen of houses in the towns and a little more to explore in most areas like how you were able to explore the train tracks

Star Rod is the tool for making Paper Mario mods, not playing it. I guess it's recommending Star Rod for patching the mod, but you don't have to use it if you already have another means for setting up a patch. I'm not too familiar with RetroArch, but I think you could just run it the same way you would patch/run your other N64 mods.
