What If Samanosuke was Defeated by Fortinbras? (Onimusha What-If)

From the beginning of the Onin War to the final defeat of the Genma God of Light in 1598, the Genma have always been hindered one way or another by the Oni clan, with every potential victory, no matter how close, always being foiled by their mortal enemies. In each instance, were it not for the Oni, the Genma would have absolutely emerged victorious, and Samanosuke's constant conflict with them for almost 40 years has been a particular hinderance for them. So what would have happened if he were defeated by Fortinbras in Onimusha: Warlords, resulting in a total Genma victory?
As if the delay on my last What-If was bad enough, now it's been 5 months to get another one finished! My sincere apologies for that. The editing process in particular has taken nearly 2 months of almost daily work, but I can safely say that I'm rather happy with the final result! Being forced to essentially write an entirely new story really allowed me to get creative and incorporate things that were otherwise non-existent in the main games, which was probably the most fun parts to write.
Proud as I am of this scenario, though, I'm hoping whatever scenarios I do next aren't quite as lengthy. I'd rather not have another Timeline incident and give myself severe arm pains again! Still, I do still have a couple of Onimusha videos in the pipework, and I'm still open to more What-If suggestions, so I hope you can continure to look forward to what we do next!

It was nice to have an au where Luis got to stay as a wholesome dad/grandpa, instead of being possessed by an evil Genma and getting killed like in canon.

I love that the Mangas are now being included in these what-if timelines. The beginning was definitely a dark start, but well written too. I would've laughed if gargantos ended up appearing in the past and blew up Ranmaru. Loved the story!

Papa Luis is the best, I wish we'd gotten to see him like this in the game. Loved this scenario, demon lord Guildenstern was very cool and I love the incorporation of the manga and bringing the Tokugawa's into the story (must get around to reading it myself). It's interesting seeing Nobunaga enslaved after the dark ceremony completed, amazing how close he came to that fate in the game (ironically he owes Samanosuke his freedom). I also really like having Mitsuhide take on Tenkai's role.

Agreed. I do wish we got to see more of what Luis was like before Rosencrantz intervened. I'm at least glad that we got a fairly good picture of him from what Roberto tells us, so I had something I could work with. I have made a video fully covering both volumes of the Night of Genesis manga if you'd like to see more of what happens there. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same for Twilight of Desire as well since it may finally be getting a fan translation soon

This was a fantastic what if despite Samanosuke dying in the Warlords scenario. It would have been awesome to see Jubei fight Fortinbras instead of Nobunaga. Having the Bishamon sword and the Rekka-Ken just beyond op. I still wonder if during Samurai's destiny if Jubei could have fused some of the weapons he got from Samanosuke with his of the same elements with some sort of magic.

I wanted to, but I've had to prioritise my health the past couple of weeks, plus I've been away on holiday a couple of weeks earlier. My very brief summary of the trailer is that I'm cautiously optimistic about things, not to mention hoping to see how it ties in to Musashi's role in the Night of Genesis manga. I am most definitely going to cover it once it releases. That's something I refuse to miss. Let's hope that it leads to another game in the future

I realise these What If scenarios can feel rather long-winded at times, but given how much the story could veer off from a single change, it is usually necessary to maintain a coherent story. Hell, the Dawn of Dreams story was completely rewritten here, so skipping over events wasn't really an option since nobody would really have any point of reference. This kind of video is certainly not for everyone, so fair enough if it isn't your kind of thing. I mostly do these because I enjoy the creative writing aspect of them.

Honestly, that's a bit debatable. Their short meeting in Blade Warriors implies that they're more or less on equal footing with each other, but I'd say that a 10-second clash isn't really enough for a definite answer

@@RedEyedDRAG00N I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm a Jubei fanboy, but you'd be wrong. In truth, I've always preferred Samanosuke, though by a small margin. I have simply been using what information is available from the games themselves to determine my takes, and based on the games themselves, the two were measured to be on fairly equal footing, though again, a single 10 second sword lock is nowhere near enough to definitively determine that. Perhaps Samanosuke is stronger than Jubei as you believe, but without a canonical fight between them, it's not really possible to know. By the time Demon Siege rolls around, Jubei has already retired, so at that point Samanosuke would most definitely be above him since Samanosuke kept fighting. But to get legitimately angry that I would even entertain the idea that Jubei could ever be even close to on par with him is a little over the top. Let's all remember that this isn't something to be taken seriously. We don't need to rag on each other for liking a character. You're obviously a big Samanosuke fan and I can see why. Samanosuke is awesome in every game he shows up in. But you don't need to be antagonistic because somebody happens to like Jubei
