I've only read through maybe 30 or 40 comments, and at least 80% of them have been asking 'what if' along with some absolutely irrelevant detail, that would never have made any differences whatsoever. just like I saw one that said 'what if Snape didn't kill Dumbledore', another that said 'what if Harry killed Bellatrix', which mind you, these situations WOULD have changed our opinions and viewpoints to an extent, but it would have came to the exact same conclusion regardless. Voldemort would have killed Snape and had someone else kill Dumbledore, and then Harry would have never known Snape's memories, and for the Bellatrix question, that wouldn't have changed ANYthing at all, considering I don't think Molly Weasley used the killing curse, Harry wouldn't have either.

@Seth.. At the moment of Voldemort his return and when Bellatrix had killed Sirius.. I think Harry was VERY close to use the killing curse on her when he had her on the ground after the Cruciatus curse.. And IF that happens you return to the question if the ministry will or will not imprison Harry in Azkaban for using the curse..' That would be a gigantic difference compared to the story we all know.. Since Harry would atleast be looked at with suspicion by the ministry from that moment forward since they will know that Harry will use the unforgivable curses if the situation permits it or demand it.. Just like I think if Harry used it once, the bar of his morality would lower to such a extend he might even do it again on later moments

Harry would never be with the Dursleys and therefore never be abused, although sadly Sirius would probably die a lot sooner because the whole reason Harry was given to the Dursleys in the first place was that he'd be hidden that way. Placing the 'Chosen One' with any wizard at all would ensure Voldemort would know where he is sooner and, well... The series would probably be different in a lot of ways, like for that to be possible at all would mean Peter would never have framed Sirius, Harry would know he was magical a lot sooner, we wouldn't see the only good snake we've ever seen in HP, [the one Harry freed in the first movie] Harry would never get into trouble with the ministry for using the Patronus charm near a Muggle, [since this alternate timeline means the Dursleys would be almost completely removed from the picture] and finally, we'd get a whole different third book since Sirius would've already been introduced.

At that point Hagrid also thought Sirius betrayed the Potter's even Remus thought Sirius betrayed his friends and even if they knew i think they couldnt gave him to Sirius because by sacrificing her life for Harry Lily gave him a protection and in order to be safe Harry needed to live in a house with someone who carries Harry's mother's blood. Thats why Dumbledore decided Harry should live with his Aunt Petunia .

Sacrificial Protection Magic needs a relative blood. Even if Dursleys hated Harry, they have blood connection. So Harry could not get harm

Sirius coming to the the Potters house with Pizza for Dinner finds the door blown open and James dead in the doorway then he draws his wand dropping the Pizza and begins to check the rest of the house only to find lily's corpse as well then he hears a meow from the crib as he approaches it he sees lord Voldemort's corpse next to the crib he checks if the dark lord is dead and to his surprise he is dead but for how as the dark lord claims he is immortal Siruis thinks only to hear Harry cry in the crib he quickly looks at the crib its empty but Sirius puts his hand in the crib and feels the invisibility cloak and pulls it back to find the potters cat snuggled up to Harry having pulled the cloak over them waiting for help to arrive with both of them afraid Sirius hears something outside and finds the damage to the house has taken off the defense wards so he grabs Harry and the cat while still holding the cloak and aparates out to the safe zone near Sirius apartment and starts to quickly make his way home checking he is not being noticed or tailed under the cloak as he gets home Sirius quickly locked the door behind him and puts the Harry and the cat down and starts to check harry over he notices a cut on his forehead in the shape of a lighting bolt apart from that he seems fine and the cat is unharmed , Sirius then writes to Lupin to check on Wormtail as he was the keeper to Jame's place and Harry is safe now but he told he who must not be named as he was one of the three bodies he found at the Potters House the brown owl flys off quickly once the letter is tied to it then he writes a 2nd letter for Hagrid his Order of the Phoenix contact to come over and bring food for a full report of what happened at the Potters house giving him a short note about it needing food for Harry and the Cat as well

He did. Back when they were at school together, Sirius was going to play a "prank" on Snape by purposely leading him to the Shrieking Shack when Lupin was a werewolf. James found out about this and stopped him just before he reached the shack. That's how Snape finds out Lupin is a werewolf because he sees him just before James stops him. It's explained in either Prisoner of Azkaban or Order of the Phoenix book. Can't remember which one?

Harr would be harry Snape end of the line^^ He would have had a good influence on him. he stil lwould be picked on by James. but nowhere near as heavily. probably the boys would get a healthy rivalry as Severus and James both clearly were very intelligent young man. and with both boys wanting to best the other and Sirius not wanting to fall behind James, they´d probably be more often in the library than for midnight strolls through the forbidden section. It probably only would increase their skills and save Snape from the deatheaters. but someone else would hear the prophecy as Snape spied it at VOldemorts direct order if i remember correctly. means Harry would just have an addiitional father figure, instead of the loathing hateful snape (given Lily still married james. If not Harry probably would grow up in James and Remus care as they would never allow the dursleys to lay hand on harry. Remus couldn´t take harry in due to his werewolf, and at least hinted homeless status, but with James in the game. Remus would always have a place on the couch and Harry would have someone with a bit of reason raising him) So Snape in Gryffindor would totally change the books. He would be an entirely different person i bet almost everyone would be.

I belief Lupin would be the second choice.. And I assume Voldemort would have killed him trying to extract the location of Harry and obviously failing.. Making him turn his attention towards Neville the second boy who the prophecy might speak off.. While, yes, part of escaping the hideout as he was stuck inside, the main reason was that Harry was in danger and Sirius would risk everything, including his life, to protect Harry. So, he probably still would have died. And yes, there would be a better connection between the of them that would just make his death even worse. And, worse of all, if he HAD lived with Sirius, it probably would have put both of them in more danger.

He would jump into the fight to help Sirius, and once their wands connected, Sirius would have a nice aim for using the killing curse for a few seconds, so that settles it.

Too simple. You are forgetting how interested Hermione was in Harry to begin with. I believe that she was actively seeking to befriend Harry after she knew who he was. I think Hermione, like everyone idolized Harry. All the kids saw him as their hero. The boy that vanquished the Dark Lord. So loads of kids worshiped him. Hermione, I believe was one of these. I believe HARRY was ALWAYS her hero. And being part of his adventures and seeing his actions first hand ONLY SOLIDIFIED THIS. (This is why she is so interested in Harry and goes crazy go nuts over Harry and his success. Like in Quidditch. She is very supportive of Harry when he plays but can't be stuffed about the game when Harry's not playing) Remember she seemed VERY set on hanging around Harry and Ron. That was also my problem here. The unforgivable curses get you life imprisonment at Azkaban. So maybe murder may get him 25 years or something like that, but the killing curse makes it life. A second point that I disagree with is that I wonder if Sirius counts as family. That matters because the protection Lily gave him breaks as soon as he leaves family for good

Even without Wormtail, I still think Barty Crouch Jr would have eventually broken free of his father's imperius curse. He broke free during the World Cup without help, and he was growing stronger and more resistant all the time. He was placed back under by his father, but it is my opinion that he would eventually break free again even without outside help. Doubt it would even take very long either. Barty Jr would then be free to murder his father (unless his dad was able to stop him, and my money is on Jr especially without Winky there to assist anymore), and he could set off to Albania to search for Voldemort. The timeline and events from book 4 onward would be a bit different, but similar events would occur. If Wormtail managed to find Voldemort over a single summer break, Barty Jr could do it even faster. They would also surely get Voldemort his temporary body while enacting the plan for his full revival. And Barty would prove to be a much more effective assistant as well. But given the different timing as well as the fact that he only had one subject who had to constantly remain with him and care for him (not having a second person to go off and enact a complicated and lengthy plan), I wonder if Voldemort would still go after Harry's blood. He'd probably attempt to find a way, but he may be forced to give that aspiration up and settle for a regular "enemy" for the ritual. In that case, Harry would end up having to die for real in the end due to Voldemort no longer having Harry's blood to backfire on him. Either way, I still don't think Wormtail's death would stop Voldemort's eventual revival. Barty Jr I definitely think would eventually break free and fill that role instead.

That just seems so obvious if I were James and lily I would have either made the keeper one of them or another friend because they had to have more than the marauders and Alice and Frank. Dumbledore would have died at the end of the year anyway.. The horcrux Voldemort placed on the ring cursed Dumbledore meaning he would not have survived till the end of the year.. He ALLOWED snape to kill him so atleast they could use his death as a advantage against the dark lord as they did with the Elder Wand changing Allegiance from Dumbledore to Draco and from there to Harry (I saw you wanted the answer from Folklore but it has being 2 months and I thought you might appreciate it)

I love these videos! I did. It ice something in this video tho. In the first film (I don't think he says it in the book) Ron says "there wasn't a witch or wizard who went bad that wasn't in Slytherin" but Peter Pettigrew is clearly wearing Griffindor uniform and it would be unlikely for James, Sirius and Remus to be friends with him if he was in Slytherin, so Ron was incorrect. I do genuinely love these videos though they make my day.

What if Harry imagined the whole thing? He never went to Hogwarts or met any of his friends and professors. He was just some depressed kid living in an abusive household. His parents had actually died in a car crash when he was a baby and his abusive aunt and uncle took him in and made his life miserable growing up. It's the perfect "escape" because he can live inside a world where he has friends and is the "star" because everyone knows who he is. The story comes to and end right around the time Harry turns 18, because in reality he is now 18 and can legally move out and be free of the Dursleys. He doesn't need to imagine Hogwarts and his life in the Wizarding world anymore because he's free to leave and do whatever he wants. Maybe become a detective or FBI agent which would be the real life term for "auror". It's sad, but a realistic theory and definitely a possibility.
