Texas is a very weird and wonderful place. It sort of still retains that frontier feeling. People here are very patriotic Americans but also Texan to the bone. I was born and raised in Texas still live here. Going through the school system is interesting, you get to learn Texas history as well as US history. It's also pretty diverse you get lots of fusion here from different cultures. Hispanic culture is huge in the state as it was once part of Spain then Mexico. The hispanics that are born and raised here have their own culture,Tejano. A mix of American, Texan and Mexican. It also refers to a style of music. A movie recently made that uses Tx almost as a character all its own is Hell or High Water. Watch it. A great scene of the movie. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZW8iYRjfrWNmcU

After the Civil War, the US had a number of laws and policies that negatively hit the southern states, and Texas government and politics is still heavily influenced from those after effects. The reason for the Texas electrical grid is so they could retain control and not have to adhere to federal laws and standards since it never crossed state lines (it does now, but that's why). For decades, even operating a bank branch in Texas was only allowed if the main central bank was in Texas, meaning no outside banks from other states were allowed until a state constitutional amendment allowed it in 1994.

Hi y'all. Just discovered you today: it started with a Dave Chappelle reaction, that led to 4-5 Bill Burr reactions (and I noted one of you wearing an Astros cap, my team) which led to the All the States video, which led to this, a bit about my home state. I will tell you Texas is unusual. Couldn't possibly explain it all with any brevity, since because of its size and geographic location, it crosses many bounds, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic. I've spent a lot of time in Europe (I'm a Germanist by training, historical linguist) and although I really enjoyed it and found it also extremely varied and ancient, it really made me appreciate Texas--not just Houston, where I live, or the Rio Grande Valley where I was born, or Galveston and South Padre Island, where I fish--but all the many cultural enclaves that no matter how different they may be (Mexican, German, Czech, French, African, Indigenous) everyone equally takes pride in being from here. I would say that generally, there's no need to secede because secession already exists in our hearts and minds: like many, I'd declare myself a Texan first before anything else. This is especially true for many Mexican-Americans whose people have been here for 3 centuries when this was a Mexican territory and state, Coahuila y Tejas, and fought alongside the many Anglo people who came here and fought for Texas independence from Mexico. It's great and I hope all three of you could make it here someday. We'll throw you a nice party and barbecue. Cheers for the great videos! Subscribed.

this BS of standing up to the US military always makes me laugh... of course Texas couldn't repulse a full scale attack... but (like we have found in the past) Occupation would make Afghanistan look like a cake walk... you know how many men can make a single kill shot at 400+ yds here in Texas?...
