You're a small minded person if you think that's incoherent. Economic inequality is a condition for economic progress and the enrichment of all. Equality is a foolish pipe dream. Even the Germans, under a certain regime, fought against this silly idea.

The US had always viewed itself more as a 'steward' than an 'imperialist' (even though its not that much different) so even before the war - the commonwealth system had promised the independence of the country by 1945 so the Japanese invasion actually just halted it for a bit but by all means when the nation finally gained full independence in 1945 - it was actually on time. Also integrating the ENTIRE archipelago to the US mainland would be the most difficult thing I imagine. Even the Spanish only barely managed to integrate the primarily-Muslim Mindanao, hell even the Filipino independence movement that the Americans met in the 19th Century had nothing to do with Mindanao so the 'Moros' that the Americans had to fight was actually a separate movement by itself. Although I have to say, it wouldnt be impossible - after all, Washington managed to integrate the tribes of North America.

By 1945 Mussolini was very ill and might not have lived more than a couple of years. The model is probably more like Franco in Spain where as soon as the centre is gone the West get rid of the embarrassing "friend" of a Fascist Italy and encourage a democratic state.

The big difference was in the top commanders. Joffre was an energetic no - nonsense soldier, while Von Moltke - the younger - was an intellectual, more at home with art & literature. In 1940, Joffre's pupil, Gamelin was, surprisingly, more in synch with Von Moltke - the younger, than his former mentor. The Brits, made a big difference, both in 1914, and in 1940. In 1914, they didn't move fast enough to make the Marne battle a decisive German defeat. In 1940, the British moved quickly to the Channel coast after the German attack, breaking the Allied line completely.

I don't know about that "spark" kicking off this WWI, as a Pole I will say that we fundamentally despised all 3 partitioning powers, but the Poles in the German and Austrian regions while treated no better than at best second class citizens however, Poles in the Russian region were treated terribly and were little better than slaves to the Russians, which is why so many revolts started there in the first place. Suffice to say I highly doubt any Pole would see Russia as their best chance for a be it semi or fully independent Poland, thus I surmise there would be only two camps of Poles one for full independence and the other whom would likely have opted for Germany's offer of a client kingdom, given that in this timeline Austria already demonstrated with federalization willingness to give Poles some autonomy and Germany could leverage that as a example of them holding up their end of the bargain and Russia would no such bargaining chip, especially given how they ran their empire to begin with. Additionally I don't think France would have gone it alone in the west and would have likely tried to pull Italy if the UK refused to engage, primarily similar to how Italy got pulled in within our own timeline, by dangling South Tyrol and the Dalmatian coast as rewards. With the French using the Italians to apply pressure to Austria in the west while the Russians and Romanians applied pressure from the east and the French and Russians could focus more on the greater threat of Germany. Also given that Germany was initially attempting to establish good relations with the UK in our own timeline, so they would not have to engage the Royal Navy, I think in this case Germany would succeed in that endeavor, given the French invaded Belgium and the UK would respond by blockading the French in the English Channel, thus allowing the Germans to focus their naval power on Russia.

We Czechs had higher hopes for Russians "saving us" (mostly because we didn´t ever get under their control, so we didn´t know what it is like and power of Russian propaganda about pan-slavism), but one of our main writers of 19th century went to Russia right during our "national revival" when pan-slavism was strongest and he was shocked by life there. For example family with which he lived treated their servants almost like slaves (well, by that time they were still just a little bit more than slaves) and their minorities didn´t have it much better. Basically after that he wrote that life under Germans is much better and Russia sucks.

@@tefky7964 I have heard many South Slavs held a similar view to that as well, especially when it came to Pan-Slavism but the reality of Russia came as a real nasty surprise to those who championed the idea.

Sen Huey P Long was a US patriot & politician of the people so the globalists of yesterday murdered him using an independent contractor-agent. FDR's Administration was in on it & Sen Long's ability to survive the operation removing bullets from his back was botched! Sen Long's populist-nationalist movement would have taken in the patriotic Republicans not so beholding to the banker clique with the Federal Reserve System! Mussolini would have taken Hitler on over eastern Europe & the German military might have taken out Hitler successfully then taken on Stalin's USSR with Japan! No A-bomb drop against civilians & commies taking over China, N. Korea or VietNam! Pres. Trump could have refined Sen Long's movement with MAGA/ Make America Healthy Again as Pres. Trump & RFK Jr are heirs to Sen Long! We would be better off today & the demoncRAT Socialists & RINO globalists would be the opposition with all made clear earlier! Today, Pres. Trump & RFK Jr are trying for the final effort to stop the globalist World Economic Forum's clique of pd off political lobby goons of Biden-Harris & R.A.Ts or Republicans Against Trump in the USA! We MAGA/MAHA activists owe Sen Huey Long of LA & eatlier, Sen Thomas Watson of GA as our US founding political pioneers who are also martyrs as their lives were cut short to stop them! Pres. Trump is carrying their efforts on & unlike them has survived! Vote Trump-Vance 2024!

Hello from Prague. I am not sure how serious was meant the German region separated from current Czechia. There has never existed such administrative unit (logically, who would create such administrative spaghetti monster). Word Sudetenland was not used in that manner ever before. The language, nationality and ethnic question in these regions was extremelly unclear (take a look at Silesia referendums later for example...). And - most importantly - natural administrative regions. Local and regional towns as centers of administrative units are where they are for a reason. Czech borderland with german-speaking ethnicity (mislabelled Sudetenland) would not be able to exist as an administrative unit in any shape or form, from elementary practical reasons.
@richardaubrecht2822
@richardaubrecht2822 16 сағат бұрын
The borders wasn't there but the idea was. If I remember correctly one of the proposals for Austrian-Czech compromise talked about splitting Czech lands into a bilingual and a German-only areas, with greater autonomy for Czechs in the bilingual areas but almost nonexistent autonomy for them in the German speaking areas.

@@richardaubrecht2822 Look at Budweiss or Pilsen, for exymple... if you cut the borfer par out, the natural regional centers would still be those two... coz of terrain, roads, railroads, habbit... Those are natural administrative units with natural gravity.

If this was the case, the American government would've approved the mass migration of Filipinos to the newly occupied Japan and in turn, approve the mass migration of Mainland Americans into the Philippines. This would even be highly likely if the atomic bombs were never used and instead, invaded Japan resulting in the massive loss of Japanese populations. We could also see the possibility of Japan being split in two as Soviet Russia would also scramble to invade from the north.

Honestly, making the Philippines a US state is like putting a target on the Filipinos’ back and forcing on them a yoke too heavy to bear, all hinged on the promise of prosperity which frankly could never be realized. The comments say a lot of Filipinos want to be a US state but frankly once that idea becomes lived, the sentiments would surely shift.

I keep having to point out the same errors in videos about the late Habsburg monarchy. No the peoples of the empire were not fighting for independence, but greater representation WITHIN the Empire. Independence movements were miniscule. Minority rights and political representation of minorities in the empire was something unthinkable and unheard of in most other countries globally. It was certainly unheard of in the German and Russian empires and just for context the oh so progressive United States (which was critically responsible for the stupidity at Versailles) still separated its people based on color in the 1960s. The division between the different peoples in the empire is constantly exaggerated, since people only marginally educated on the subject perpetuate allied propaganda 100 years later. Books like AJP Taylors are to blame here. Modern historiography (from all A-H successor states) since the 90s has pretty much agreed that the empire had very good chances of survival if WW1 didn't happen.
