Am I the only one who tried to calculate how to actually fit that many people on our world? I first tried to measure how tall all buildings would have to be when you cramp all people together on land. No matter what you do, piling the people together you get a mass greater than the whole solar system and stacking the people together using only the globe's surface you're probably going to reach the edge of our solar system as well.

We could scale the human population back to the relatively modest one quadrillion, and the global population density becomes about 5 million people per square mile, or about what you'd have in the queueing line for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. With humans shoulder to shoulder around the globe (including the land areas inhospitable to human survival), it's unclear where there would be land for other necessities, like food. So there is no way human population can ever get that big. It may already be close to the limit the planet can support.

We almost definitely won’t ever reach that population, maybe with the exception of us becoming a multi star or even multi galaxy dwelling species. For example, think of the past. People used to have over 5 kids at a time! And the reason for that was because mortality rates were very high then. Today people rarely even have kids! Some people (scientists, people with similar educations) have the prediction that the population will level at around 15 billion people, possibly even 12. It’s just that less and less people WANT to have children, and there are less and less children NEEDED to be born.

People are getting more satisfaction from their hobbies and current technology offerings that they are losing interest on sharing their life with others. Imagination is often superior than reality. And with virtual Reality becoming more advanced, reality will be eventually obsolete. We'll rely on sperm and egg banks just to keep our numbers healthy and maintain our existence.
