Toyota has won the World Endurance Championship six consecutive times since 2018, proving itself as a dominant force in the sport. They have a strong track record in endurance racing and are known for their innovative hybrid technology. For the past five years, Toyota has heavily faced criticism for its success in sportscar racing due to competition shortages. However, in 2023, it emerged victorious against four other major factory teams when Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot, and Cadillac joined the grid. @@Spike-sk7ql also teams didn't really leave because Toyota was winning, it's more because of their financial position and other commitments. Toyota is a very wealthy company, selling the most cars by far around the world. They run a full works team in wrc and Dakar as well as wec, mainly because they can afford to. Also, before the new cost cap and regulations came in, wec was pretty much as expensive as f1. I'd say Toyota could easily afford to run in f1 but choose to stick to the categories they have more history with and success.

And VAG is a mighty big company, and I'm sure that they had the money to keep both Audi, and Porsche in. Now, a couple years after leaving WEC, Audi is going into F1. Porsche was supposed to join as well, but it fell through or something.

Toyota for now has the best team, the best car, the best reliability, best pace, more experienced drivers in endurance, the most experienced structure so all the others have to work hard to achieve that level, is a 12 year experience, non stop.

It's not insane that they won. They've been running their car for three years now, they've had a lot of time to iron out any problems with the car and dive into it's setup quirks etc. The other teams have not had this short of time to perfect their cars in that way. The BOP was also somewhat fraudulent, if you compare it with the BOP in GT3 and Touring Car series around the world. There, it actually works and allows many different cars to be competitive. In GT3 alone you can see Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, McLaren, Lexus, Corvette and Porsche all being competitive.

Yeah but honestly iam fine with Toyota winning it. They are an awesome group of people with so much knowledge and experience. It’s a shame they lost the lemans win because of the 80kg bop penalty. Let’s just hope the fia isn’t killing Toyota completely with bop, I could really see them leave the sport because of that. I mean, the car has already at most of the Time a minimum 50kg more onboard than the others.

My prediction if toyota keeps dominating- company heads are gonna get impatient-for exqmple is Peugot gonna be around long if alpine and other newcombers beat them, especially in reliability? Alpine is notoriously impatient/indecisive as seen in F1. Etc etc etc Regardless I think the grid is too big and not enough races to go around for everyone to see success even in the medium and long term. its the nature of things but I hope I am wrong

true Toyota has been great the last few years including this year but to say that the main reason for Toyota not winning Le Mans was the incident with the squirrel is a bit weak. We had great racing between all the teams and at the end Ferrari was the best at that race

Im sorry but the squirrel thing was just toyota trying to play it as pure bad luck. They hit a piece of kevlar that broke the splitter, no overheating was reported. The 50# Ferrari had a pebble break the radiator on the night, thats how Le Mans is. I dont take anything away from Toyota on the theur championship dub this year, but its to be expected since that car has 4 years of development while some of the others didn't even have 1 at Sebring. Losing Le Mans to a car that wasn't even a year old really removes value to the previous wins. Either Toyota wins le mans next year or they are going to be the makemelaugh of the 24
