i don’t understand. not all people who grow up in a certain spot agree with one religion they grew up with. some convert. as i did. i’m now a orthodox christian. i believe it to be the way. i think atheists are just comforting themselves in hopes they never have to meet god. i was atheist for years. until i really thought about it. if we can explain why things are and how they got there. how come we can’t explain how all things got there or why all things are. a creator makes sense even scientifically. God is loving. he’s a parent. he loves us unconditionally. just doesn’t tolerate are lifestyle. hell is simply the rejection of gods love. not god not loving you. it’s the other way around. And when i went a little deeper, i found the christian god is quite literally a god we can’t comprehend if you’ve studied the trinity. Anthema i warn to you not condemn, but Metanoia i hope for you.

Nope, any church worth attending will welcome questions. The biblical account is that there are these gods. Many are by name. It proposes the creator God is the only god worthy of worship for its a God above all others he created. I often hear the bible has one God. Although it has 3 that make up one, it also acknowledges other gods. Some even have genuine power in the bible. So it doesn't teach there's no other gods. Just what people perceive as gods aren't worthy above the one who created all things.

"gods, demigods", if you read Enochs writings as the Bible says christ did, you see their interference with mankind. They almost all(to me) tell the same story of history but from different perspectives. The native American people share the same story, the Muslims are exactly the same story but the anti christ version of it. The reasonable thing is to look at this, say, it seems absurd. @@floydpulley3509 Well, Floyd, that too poses a few problems. There are no contemporary accounts of Jesus saying anything, even if he truly existed. The earliest canonical texts are Paul, who got it all second hand, and Mark which is 20-30 years after the alleged death. Then, of course, you have someone speaking in metaphors…a great teaching approach, but hard to pin down in strict interpretation. For example, Frank Tarek tries to argue that the same texts that the Southern Baptists used to justify and promote slavery back in the day are in fact texts that just allow endentured servitude. Huh. And of course, Mohammed announced that his was the final revelation. And Joseph Smith had a new revelation in his hat. So even allowing that one should take prophets seriously without looking too closely into their bona fides, how can a disinterested person pick a prophet to follow.

He did explain. The response to the question is not him asking the question back. He brought up all those religions to illustrate that when a theist asks that question, they refuse to apply it to themselves. By refusing to apply that question to yourself you inadvertently point out that the question is pointless, it adds nothing to the debate, it proves nothing, it doesn't convince anyone that they should believe in any gods, never mind your very particular one(s). @@Aman.raj9815 Average Pervert Worshipper Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (Bhāgavata Purāṇa) » Canto 10: The Summum Bonum CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Kṛṣṇa Steals the Garments of the Unmarried Gopīs One day, the young gopīs left their garments on the shore as usual and began playing in the water while chanting of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s activities. Suddenly Kṛṣṇa Himself came there, took away all the garments and climbed a nearby kadamba tree. Wanting to tease the gopīs, Kṛṣṇa said, “I understand how fatigued you gopīs are from your austerities, so please come onto the shore and take back your clothes.” The gopīs then pretended to become angry and said the cold water of the Yamunā was giving them great pain. If Kṛṣṇa did not give them back their garments, they said, they would inform King Kaṁsa of all that had happened. But if He did give the clothes back, they would willingly carry out His orders in the mood of humble servants. Śrī Kṛṣṇa replied that He had no fear of King Kaṁsa, and that if the girls really intended to follow His command and be His maidservants they should each immediately come onto the shore and take their respective garments. The girls, trembling from the cold, climbed out of the water with their two hands covering their private parts. Kṛṣṇa, who felt great affection for them, again spoke: “Because while executing a vow you bathed in the water naked, you have committed an offense against the demigods, and to counteract it you should offer obeisances with joined palms. Then your vow of austerity will achieve its full result.” The gopīs followed this instruction and, folding their hands in respect, offered obeisances to Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Satisfied, He gave them back their clothing. But the young girls had become so attracted to Him that they could not leave. Understanding their minds, Kṛṣṇa said that He knew they had worshiped Kātyāyanī to get Him as their husband. Because they had offered their hearts to Him, their desires would never again become tainted by the mood of materialistic enjoyment, just as fried barleycorns can no longer grow into shoots. Next autumn, He told them, their most cherished desire would be fulfilled.

The only honest truthful position is "I don't know" This is what an agnostic atheist should say. We are all subject to some level of indoctrination depending on where we are born. So never hate but have pity it could have been you. Anyone so deluded enough to confidently say they know can only be dishonest. If there happens to be a just God how would you judge people is judgement for disbelief even fair? Even the zealots creating these religions realized some evidence is needed. Jesus with his many miracles only a few at the time got to see them, Mohamed and his splitting of the moon why wasn't that observed and documented worldwide. The truth is we wouldn't exist if the moon was split in two, Mohamed wasn't aware of the scale of the physics involved. The "I don't know" is a very powerful position it drives the need for knowledge. The "I know" without facts. Is a position in which you will never know.

The atheist "believes" God does not exist since the atheist cannot actually say "God does not exist" (he can't prove it). @@crazydragy4233 Are apples blue? In reality, apples appear to be the color which the observer detects based on the light spectrum they are sensitive to. So, if one perceives it to be blue and has faith that it is, sure, it's blue. The same goes for the observation of creation. If one perceives it as evidence for God, so be it. But, I tend to play with the atheist's interpretation of Faith. They claim "faith" is blind to evidence. Atheistic interpretations fall into the category of "mythology" or "religion" by that standard. When an atheist "believes" there is no God, it becomes an assumption/faith, hence Faith. But, in my heart, mind and soul, Faith is the understanding that as humans we are limited by our brain; therefore, we cannot say "God does not exist". How can we rely on the limitations of human comprehension to reduce God to particles found in the universe? Sure. Energy can not be created or destroyed. We observe that everywhere in nature. Data likewise is everywhere in the universe. So there is a finite level of energy and a finite level of data in the universe. Entropy is spreading that data out equidistantly in one arrow of time, and pulling it all together in the other. At one point, the universe is at a state of equlibrium: right at the big bang, and at the point in which the universe can't expand any further. At that point, all the energy and data in the universe resets because space is relative. At equilibrium, the dwarf and the giant are the same size in the box because we don't know how big the box is at that point. So that's how the universe works. Now, why can't a god act on our universe? Simple. Any action by a being outside our universe would add to the energy of the universe. It would add outside data and energy. We don't see 'additive energy' anywhere in the universe. No where the universe is increasing in mass or temperature without a explanatory phenomenon. Every slice of time has the same amount of energy in it, from the big bang to the end of the spreading of the universe. Even "thoughts" would increase the amount of energy in the system. Again, never been seen.

@@Shauntheduke. It has been proven that the 66 books of the Bible were created at different times, spanning over multiple millennia and multiple continents, authored by between 35 and 40 spirit field believers. How likely do you think it is that the very first book of the Bible has the gospel message embedded in the very first genealogy? The problem with Genesis 5 is that these proper names are not translated for the reader from their Hebrew meanings, so you have to unravel these by digging into the meaning of the Hebrew roots that make up the names. Adam: (adomah) “man” Seth: “appointed” (Genesis 4:25) Enosh: (from root anash, “to be incurable”) “mortal,” “frail,” “miserable” Kenan: “sorrow,” “dirge,” “elegy” Mahalal’el: “the Blessed God” - (mahalal) “blessed”; (El) the name of God Jared: (from the verb yaradh) “shall come down” Enoch: “commencement” or “teaching” Methuselah: “his death shall bring” - muth, a root that means “death”; shalach means “bring” or “send forth” Lamech: “despairing” (from which we get “lament” or “lamentation”) Noah: (derived from nacham) “comfort” or “rest” (Genesis 5:29) We now can look at genealogy with more insight. The sequence: Adam > Seth > Enosh > Kenan > Mahalaleel > Jared > Enoch > Methuselah > Lamech > Noah reads, in English, “Man [is] appointed mortal sorrow; [but] the blessed God shall come down teaching [that] His death shall bring [the] despairing rest.” Hidden in the meaning of the names in the genealogy is a beautiful presentation of the Gospel of God’s saving grace. Most Biblical scholars believe the Book of Genesis was the first book to be written down. This would have happened around 1450 BC to 1400 BC. So perhaps about 3400 years or so ago. The four canonical gospels-Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John-were all composed within the Roman Empire between 70 and 110 CE (± five to ten years) as biographies of Yeshua of Nazareth, written about a generation after the crucifixion and ascension of Yeshua.

As Dawkins points out, had the young lady been brought up elsewhere, she’d likely hold different beliefs. obviously this is true. But that’s not an argument. Showing how someone may have come to hold a position is not a refutation of the position itself. It may have some utility, to be sure, but it’s not an actual argument. And it applies elsewhere. Say we were debating taxes or something, it would be a poor argument to say: ‘well you only think we should raise taxes because you were raised by democrats’. again I’m not saying the proposition is incorrect about geography impacting religious belief, I’m saying that fact is irrelevant regarding God’s existence or non existence Edit: tho let’s be serious, the young lady’s argument was ‘what if you’re wrong?’ Not exactly an intellectually rigorous philosophical inquiry, lol
@brandonszpot8948 Жыл бұрын
That’s all well and good, but it wasn’t his argument. The observation he made there was peripheral to the actual argument. Obviously he’s not trying to refute her position by figuring *why* she’s a Christian. He’s just supplementing his actual argument that “being wrong” in this sense doesn’t just mean that the god of the Bible is real. For an atheist, it could mean thousands of potential outcomes in whatever afterlife would end up being real. The Christian, or any religious person, has that many minus one.

Respecting religions is imperative upon all but following wrong religion or the religion that has been contaminated by the selfish people for petty gains may not be the right thing to do. Therefore, it becomes necessary for all to verify what they believe is 'truth' or not. If God is One for all and all his favours( water, sun,food air, etc etc) are for all then His message for the humanity also has to be one and can't be different for different set of people of different era/time, language or geographical area. What is that 'one message' that God is giving from the beginning (from sanatan kaal/ ancient times) through different sages and prophets? To understand the same first we need to give up our worldly identities given by our birth like- muslim, Christian,hindu, Buddhists etc and ask ourselves 'what would've been my 'truth' if I had been born in other community? Will it not be different from what I believe today? If it would be a 'different' 'truth' then either that one is wrong or the one that I follow is wrong. For 'truth' is got to be UNIVERSAL in nature and applicable to all without any difference or discrepancy of any sort...like the favours of Almighty is same for all humans of the earth. The 'classical mistake' the humanity has committed everytime is that they began worshipping false Gods/ man-made god's or humans/animals as Gods and demeaned and diluted the authority and sovereignty of the True One Creator of all. And therefore, today we see n number of Gods confusing all of humanity...God, in order to curb this menace of associating partners to the God, kept sending His divine knowledge through sages and prophets from time to time in all era and area. They (messengers) established the truth while they had been living here however, after their departure their knowledge did not pass on, in right manner, to the coming generations and also due to manipulation by unscrupulous people the 'true message' got corrupted...As, therefore we see the knowledge of Vedas/ Torah/ Bible have almost been lost/forgotten/ manipulated. In order to re-establish (yada yada) the truth again and again prophets were sent in all areas and then the final messanger prophet Muhammad(pbuh) was send to earth for all of humanity...but people gripped under the illusion of their accidental 'worldly identities'(of being born to different cultures, races & languages and their superiority complex) are unable to see it that he( prophet Muhammad saw) has been given the 'same message' that was given to all the other prophets and sages who cane before him, i.e,- 'Calling all of humanity to their one true God'. Unless we accept prophets of all times of all nation as giving the same 'message' we will always differ with 'tera-mera' ( yours- ours) or become prone to 'apni daphli apna raag'( everyone playing their own tunes without any accountability)..whereas deep down in our hearts and conscience we all know that we all have one race 'humans' and are brothers and sisters from the same family. A humble soul doesn't disown others(due to accidental birth Identity) unless it has studied and pondered over the message of other religion before making his/her choice. For this life is all about choosing- 1. RIGHT FAITH( Unadulterated to True God) & 2. RIGHT DEEDS(karma). No soul will be given salvation unless it has earned it. So, mere holding onto someone will not get you the salvation. So, everyone Choose wisely as noone will answer on your behalf ... you ALONE are answerable to your One & Only Unseen true Creator. Allah(God) says; "O mankind! We...made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other)." (The Qur'an 49:13) "All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black, nor a black has any superiority over white except by PIETY and GOOD ACTION." Religion throughout time did not have the same rewards and the same reason, mostly monotheistic beliefs have similar conclusions to death but are also all different to their own right. I was brought up in a Christian household. But i wasnt christian. I wasnt Christian before i went for myself to see. They tried to teach me and bring me up with Christian values but i didnt believe it. During my early teens i went to see for myself what this was. Tried seeking this God and i had a supernatural encounter unlike anything I had experienced and i really tried to explain it away. I couldnt. It happened again and again as i searched for God. A sensation that seemed beyond my body. Then i researched my belief. How could i believe it, is there objectively based reason for it. And in my findings i find that there is absolutely NO way to explain existence without an infinite and personal God. The base for my reasoning is simple causality. Everything is caused by something or has an origin is the premise. However following that logic would follow an infinite «caused by caused by» with nothing to start everything. In other words there needs to be something that was uncaused and has always existed for anything to exist. If there was no such thing then we would have a paradox in which there would be nothing to cause everything. And i know you’re gonna ask «well who created God?» but if you ask that then you probably didnt understand what i said. The reason why this would point to God is exactly because He is not created or caused but has always existed. So noone made God. He is completely independent for His own existence because He IS existence. To me at least. That is the WHY God. Why Christianity is another matter with plenty of reasons and evidence that is uncomparable to the other religions
@smoly37Ай бұрын
a) when you leave out WHAT you experienced, again and again, there is no reaction possible. b) Why can't we accept, this is something we don't KNOW, yet. Why the need to "fill it up" with a god? Why can't we just say: "Well, science brought us very far, compared to 2000 years ago, but there's still a lot to discover." I don't WANT to know, what came before the big bang; I leave it to the scientific world, that gave us DNA, great breakthrough to use, for identifying people and thus very usefull to use in crime resolving. I'm not going to name all great inventions and discoveries. I just don't understand this stubborn, unlogical thinking. @@smoly37 i dont leave it to the scientific world as i am part of it studying medicine at the university of Bergen. And what you’ll quickly realize is that a lot(if not most) of discoveries and theories have a lot of uncertainty. Meaning that we cant know for sure if that discovery or theory actually is the case. The scientific world is also quite flawed in the way that when a theory gets accepted and then gets refuted by new evidence, the science community will dogmatically withstand the new evidence to great lengths until it cant be done anymore. And no im not using a God of the gaps argument. Im observing evidence and follow where it leads. If it points to the universe having a creator, if that explanation best explains what can be observed. Than i will belive that. You can say the same for gravity or evolution, you cant definitely know but you can make a case for each explanation and are left no choice but to go with the best explanation
