Totally unrealistic interpretation of key historical events: 1. Check the situation at the end of World War I (the territories controlled by the Serbian army and the demographic picture of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia at that time - the king was an idiot for accepting Yugoslavia, and they deserved the way their reign ended). 2. Bosnia didn't exist and certainly wouldn't have received any form of self-government, let alone a state at that time. 3. If it weren't for the communists, Serbia wouldn't have received autonomous provinces, there wouldn't have been forced migrations or confiscation of property in Kosovo, nor the prevention of the return of displaced persons (thus, secession and separation would never have happened). On the contrary. If Serbia had rejected Yugoslavia, Serbia would have remained within the pre-war borders, and Yugoslavia would have been formed only without pre-war Serbia and Montenegro. Without Russian support, there is no Greater Serbia, and in 1918, Russia does not exist.

If America and Britain are against Greater Serbia (and they were), Greater Serbia can only be created if the Serbs have at least 2 great powers on their side. France would support Serbia. And Russia would do the same. But there is no Russia. Without Russia, there is no Greater Serbia. Simple.

If Yugoslavia wasn't created in 1918 there are several possible scenarios. 1. If we presume that Serbia and Montenegro continued to exist as separate states, and if both Serbia and Montenegro were awarded per London treaty, then Montenegro would gain Dubrovnik and parts of Herzegovina, perhaps Skadar (that's a big if) while Serbia would get the rest of Herzegovina, Bosnia, part of Dalmatia and Slavonia. Macedonia, Kosovo and Vojvodina would be recognized as territories of Serbia as well. 2. If Serbia and Montenegro decided to unite into single Serbian state and if we presume that Allies would allow to incorporate Montenegrin post war territorial rights then we have different picture. In that case Serbia would gain large part of Dalmatia, entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slavonia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Vojvodina would be considered Serbian territories. Now the big question is what would happen to Slovenes and Croats? Would they form separate states or some sort of united states between them? Would Slovenia and Croatia even exist or would their territories be incorporated into Austria and Hungary? Would Slovenia go to Austria (for historic reason) and Croatia to Hungary (for historic reason). What about other nationalities? Would there be a thing called Bosnian, Macedonian or Montenegrin or would they all be Serbs of three faiths - Orthodox, Catholics and Muslims - and all based on Shtokavian language which is basically Serbian. Those are all speculations and what if's. On my personal opinion I think Yugoslavia was the biggest mistake for Serbs after WW1 because that state didn't survive. It doesn't exist anymore therefore all the sacrifice of our ancestors is for nothing. Even Serbia without any gains is better than Yugoslavia.

It is impossible to accurately predict what kind of borders Serbia would've had today had Yugoslavia never happened. The country was promised great expansion to the west (Bosnia), already had Macedonia and recently annexed Montenegro. I don't think those borders would've held to this day. People think if Yugoslavia hadn't formed, there wouldn't be a civil war, but I don't think so. A Greater Serbia would still have to deal with revolt, mostly from Muslim minorities in Kosovo, Bosnia and western Macedonia. No one can say how the borders would be changed from that.

It's easy to predict what territory of the Great Serbia were, if You-go- to Savia never existed. The borders would be like Šešelj and Milošević wanted, on the beginning of the 1990s. Thanks God, that was never happen and the State of SHS, the Kingdom of SHS, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the NDH were created, in our timeline. If that would never be, than the borders like today will never existed. Dobra predstava i ideja o alternativi da nije bilo Jugoslavije, s tim što još jednu stvar treba istaći kada je riječ o Srbiji koja je trebala biti formirana da se Kralj Aleksandar nije odlučio za Jugoslaviju. Pored revoltnih sukoba sa muslimanskim stanovništvom u Bosni i na Kosovu, kod Makedonije bi veliki problem pravili naši stari neprijatelji Bugari gotovo isto kao što Albanci danas prave sa Kosovom. Štaviše oni su i napali Srbiju tokom balkanskih ratova baš zbog Makedonije smatrajući da treba njima da pripadne. Veoma je upitno uzimajući u obzir to sve što si naveo šta bi usledilo tokom, a posebno posle drugog svjetskog rata. Ako bi se kao što je bilo kod Jugoslavije pojavio komunistički pokret koji bi vodio otpor protiv okupacije i prevladao nad drugim pokretima (a sigurno bi znajući kakav je uticaj tada imao SSSR u Evropi pa i svijetu i činjenica da svaka zemlja u koju je njihova čizma kročila je imala komunističko uređenje sve do Berlina) da bi njihov pokret pobijedio i da bi uspostavili socijalističku republiku koju bi podjelili kao što su i Rusiju (ne zaboravimo da se Rusija do dolaska boljševika protezala gotovo do mađarske) na socijalističku republiku Bosnu, Makedoniju, Crnu Goru, potom autonomne pokrajine i stvar bi se svela na bukvalno isto kao što je bilo sa Jugom. Tako da ako malo pogledamo stvari ni ta ideja o proširenju granica Srbije kao zemlje pobjednice u 1. svjetskom ratu na kraju opet propada prvenstveno zbog različitih geopolitičkih prilika u svijetu (tu se misli na dominaciju komunizma) kao eksternih faktora a i unutrašnjih pobuna protiv te države. Na ovakav sličan način je prošla i Austrougarska... Jednostavno države različitim etnicitetima i religijama teško da mogu opstati, pogotovo ako su interesi suprotstavljeni (bilo nacionalni ili religijski) što je pogotovo bio slučaj sa Jugoslavijom.

The way I can see something like this happening is if Croatia and Serbia remain separate. As in, Slovenia and Croatia unite with either half of Bosnia with croat majority or the entirety of it. And Serbia uniting with Montenegro and (assuming Croatia doesn’t get all of Bosnia) the Serbs would get Bosnian and Serbian majority areas with some corrections to the border. This way there are now 3 south Slavic states, the Slovenian Croat union, Serbia Montenegro and Bulgaria.

Croatia got rich mainly because of tourism. Dalmatia (the richest part of Croatia today) was the poorest because the land there is not good for agriculture and it had many famines historically.

Quality is awesome but sadly this has no historical or ethnical accuracy , most yugoslav movements , if you look at the rebel map, align with the areas where serbs lived under the puppet state of croatia. Idk why but people decided these modern communist borders decide who lives where. Those were made so serbs dont have major power in yugoslavia, so making a no yugoslavia alt scenario would either result in those going to serbia, or the ww2 axis win scenario where croatia keeps the puppet borders. Only scenario in which bosnia looks like a dorito and is a stew of different ethnicities is the yugoslav partisan victory and formation of yugoslavia.

The whole premise is wrong, the map implies that somehow Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia had defined borders prior to 1918, and that they joined Serbia and Montenegro who were in fact independent countries at the time. Loss of world war one led to break up off Austria Hungary, and Serbia got to create Kingdom of Serbs Croats as Slovenes as a reward for being one of the winning sides. The kingdom was later renamed to Kingdom of Yugoslavia again with Serbian monarchy at the helm.

Few things to note: Serbia would definitely fight Croatia over Bosnia due to Serbs being relative majority of pre WW2 population of Bosnia,and Croats having minority population there,at best case,splitting it in half. Also parts of Croatia where Serbs use to be relative majority. Bay of Kotor and Sremiya is another parts where Serbia and Croatia would fight over... Italy would get Dalmatia,maybe... Croatia will definitely be on side of Axis in WW2,but probably not as it was in our reality,a genocidal puppet state that only wishes to annex territory it lost to Serbia(Bosnia and Sremiya). Serbia would fall under the Iron Curtain due to being too weak to resist the Red Army,unlike in our reality,where Yugoslavia was strong enough to oppose USSR(even the west). Meaning that Serbia would end up even weaker and more economically rect than it is in our reality. One thing is for sure,it would be strongly against Russia in this reality,similarly to other former Iron Curtain countries. Croatia and Slovenia will become western allies but a bit shorter than they are today(Slovenia may be landlocked and Croatia will not have Istria,Rijeka and Dalmatia) As for Slovenia,it may enter union with Croatia(as it did in our reality)if so,they probably would never split up due to Croatia having coastline. Croatia wouldn't be in Axis since there won't be Ustase. Main reason why Ustase existed is Yugoslavia since they wanted Independent state of Croatia which was already granted in the video. Bosnia is real Croatian land. Not Serbian! Name come from river Bosnia and that land was before the Ottoman invasion, in 1463, a Catholic part of Europa. Not Orthodox one! Godini.. živim u hrvatskoj i učio sam Hrvatsku povijest i jasno je da je Srbija pobjednica u ratu kao i Italija kojoj je obećana dalmacija, a da pritom Hrvati nisu imali vojsku da uspostave neku svoju nezavisnu državu pa im je Srbija dobro došla kako Talijani i Srbi ne bi uzeli sve ono što im je obećano.

@@dekijurko To stoji! Hrvati su, poput Slovenaca, bili na strani poraženih, u 1. Svjetskom ratu. Da nisu ujedinjene, 1. Decembra, 1918., novoproglašena ( 29.10.1918. ) Država SHS i Kraljevina Srbija, sa još Kraljevinom Crnom Gorom, onda bi Talijani uzeli sve ono što im je Londonskim tajnim ugovorom, iz 1915., obećano. Također, Kraljevina Srbija bi uzela po modelu Velike Srbije cijelu BiH, 80% današnje Hrvatske, dok bi Mađari sačuvali više teritorija, poput Baranje, možda i Južne Mađarske ( Vojvodina ), te Međimurje, sa Čakovcem. Stvaranje Kraljevine SHS išlo je na ruku i Slovencima, jer su od Austrijanaca izgubili samo Korušku, te sjeverni dio Štajerske. Ostale su im bivše austrijske pokrajine Kranjska i dio Goriške. Iako su im veći dio ipak uzeli Talijani sa Trstom i sjevernom Istrom. Zbog velike blizine tada već bivše fronte na Soči, u mojoj se Istri nije održala proglašena vlast nove Države SHS. Pa su nas Talijani okupirali već prvih dana Novembra, 1918., nakon Austrijske Kapitulacije ( 03.11.1918. ), te ekspresno anektirali. To im je odmah priznato na Mirovnoj konferenciji, u Parizu, već 1919., skupa sa dijelom zapadnog Kvarnera, Rijekom, te Zadrom i Lastovom. Na kraju, zahvaljujući novoj i ujedinjenoj Kraljevini SHS, Talijani su dobili puno manje, zbog prisustva Srpske vojske u Dalmaciji, Lici i u Crnoj Gori, te kod Dubrovnika. Danas, hrvatski nacionalisti to nerado priznaju, no to su povijesne činjenice. Jer, to je riješeni misterij zašto Talijani nisu 1919. dobili sve obećano na Jadranu, a onda su zbog te frustracije izabrali podržati Benita Mussolinija, koji je onda čak prešao na stranu Hitlera i Njemačke.
