@Van, Idk if anyone told you but Dimebag Daryl Abbott (the lead guitarist), was fatally shot on stage n we lost him on Dec 8 2004, which just so happened to be the 24th anniversary of John Lennon's murder...His brother Vinnie Paul Abbott(the drummer) passed of a heart attack on June 22, 2014. The Abbott brother's n founder's of the band's...at the time that Dimebag was shot, they'd broken ties with Phil the singer, n had started a new band called Damage Plan. RIP ABBOTT BROTHER'S!!🙏🌹💞

I was very honored to know Pantera especially Dimebag Darrell Abbot and Vinnie Paul Abbot who have both passed away when I lived in Dallas, Tx. They were genuinely great people and incredible musicians that were exactly like their rockstar reputation claimed. They loved their fans, friends, and family and were generous to everyone!! They were a great live band that I saw several times and fun to hangout with in private. R.I.P. Dime and Vinnie!

Fun fact: the lead singer, Phil Anselmo, used to be a choir singer, that's how he mastered his range. He can go super low and clearly incredibly high (that "were taking over this town" line is almost totally raw, very little mixing or polish went into the post production. They wanted as close to a raw sound as they could get while still being signed to a major record label.)

They were a great live band who appreciated their fans and money spent to see them. One show in Kansas City, security wasn’t allowing some to be near moshing further back in the outside venue. Phil saw them grabbing a kid about to throw him out and stopped the song, addressed the security and said “if you don’t get your fucking hands off of him the show is done and we’re leaving the stage, and you can deal with everyone pissed off.” It was one of the greatest things I’ve seen at a show.

I got to see Pantera the 3 times they came to Hawaii, including the CFH Tour. Awesome Band. I stood 5 feet from them for CFH the whole time, I will never forget it. A friend of mine threw a joint on stage that Phillip picked up. RIP Dime & Vinny, you are sorely missed. At the Vulgar Display of Power concert, a girl latched on to my neck from behind me saying "please help me down!" I rescued her because she dove off the stage and couldn't get down after 30 minutes of being passed over the crowd. Turns out she was a sister of a friend. For the Great Southern Trendkill concert, Pantera played along with White Zombie, and Sepultura. All three bands I love. Some of my friends who stayed after the concert drank beers with Igor Cavalera, the drummer from Sepultura and got his autograph for me. I still have it. Great Band. Great times. Great memories.
