My guess is that if you were to run an internal guy line points from the ridge bow and lash you line at the strap point(s) and then go ahead at run your stakes into the ground, you would have greater stability against frontal and rearward type head winds. But, there would be just one problem though, this internal guy line can and will interfere with you getting on in through the entrance to a fair degree! Since the opening is quite large to begin with MAYBE it wouldn't be a big problem per say but that is what perhaps I would try out myself!

Karen move, really. At least you got your cheap tent. Cool. The tent reviews are fine but we can just use your reviews to avoid the bad products. If you were always espousing buying American/European, a move like this would make sense. But you’re frequently defending the choice to get the cheapest thing that works rather than overpriced American crap that’s no better, and that’s fine. But then why go and try to sound the alarm on this? You should know better than most that when dealing with Chinese made products you’ve got copycats all over. It’s how it works. I’m about halfway through this video but there’s no point in watching the rest to see a review of a tent I can’t buy.

those straps with the grommet are anchor points if you wanna stick poles in there and stake out a tarp over your tent. used in mountain tents a lot. you can also tie them out with cordage making your floor more stable because of extreme wind. btw just get some classic thin aluminum poles that will fit those grommets. it helps keep the floor down so wind doesn't catch. also, can be used to hang up and dry tent, very convenient, eliminates having to hang any part of the tent itself on the line or draped over. typically those straps are reinforced, to the tent body and should be ideally, very strong and secure, no worry of ripping. otherwise it's maybe junk copying how other stuff looks, but without providing the function. and they also help when initially setting up in strong wind, you stake those out temporarily, as second hands, so you can stake out the corners really tightly while the fabric is flapping all crazy in the wind, until you establish stability. you can also just anchor them to trees or poles with cordage. i have them on my Northface tent.

Yes the grommets are obviously for a cordage tie off. Then a peg at the end of the cord. The floor level is the only thing that can be stabilised that way. Maybe it also could be used to stop the tent flying away while you get it set up.

I don't think Luke is to blame for that. TEMU is a Chinese dropshipper so they have a tendency to illicitly list products from the same OEM as the genuine brand trying to undercut the genuine seller, which is simply illegal.

Perhaps what this company was doing was illegal to the company that made and produced the tent in the first place. If Temu bought a bunch of these tents at a sharp discount, and then sold them at a discounted cost without the producing company’s knowledge, then the producing company will be taking a loss for their product. So it’s not just about the consumer saving money, but I am not averse to getting a good deal.

As for "sold at a discount without the manufacturer's knowledge", that's just BS. Once it leaves the manufacturer, the reselling discount price is none of the manufacturer's business. The manufacturer has already made their profit. How much profit (or not) the distributor chooses to make, is entirely up to them. The manufacturer doesn't get a say in that.

What happened was the manufacturer of that tents sold it to temu and temu did not do a price mark up. The other company did a 300% mark up. Which has been the base of every business in america. I guess I just don't understand where the "double decker" portion of the tent comes in. I grew up in MA. living in Three Deckers (3 floors, 3 appartments). Been to Germany many times and rode on Double Decker (2 floors/levels) busses. I honestly thought there was going to be two levels, sleeping areas inside the tent. lol Maybe they meant if your significant other is sleeping with you they have to sleep on top of you! 🤣

I also think that you are making a mistake by telling a US company that TEMU is selling THEIR product cheaper! IN ACTUALITY they are selling a Chinese tent with their branding on it. There are probably 20 to 40 other companies also selling the same Chinese tent with their branding on it. I have looked at many tents on TEMU and the huge majority have NO branding on them. YOU have to determine if the tent you're looking for is the same as a branded tent. It was only when you received the tent that you saw the Brand name on it. If you got the tent for $51 and the other Brand company was selling it for $300+ what does that tell you? There was no attempt on the part of TEMU to deceive, leave it alone and let buyer beware.

So thank you very much for what you do. With that said, I am not very happy with you contacting the manufacturer of the tent you purchased on Temu for such a great price. I did want to buy that tent for my daughter but by the time I looked it was no longer on Temu. What's really bad Susan is that most people actually think that the name brand is the manufacturer when in reality everything these days is made in China to an Owners request and specs. When the order is filled or that product is being discontinued the Chinese company keeps the remaining products and sells them under another name on places like Temu. It is perfectly okay for them to do so and I agree with you that reaching out to the company name brand was pretty low, almost like a "Karen".

that has never been my issue TEMU does immediate refunds WITHOUT RETURNS that's a feature I have not found with any other international online retailer... TEMU are very good to trade with despite the trade issues between big countries.... I'm waiting for Russia sanctions to be lifted Id like to trade there too

There are a lot of comments says that Luke was wrong for reaching out the the Grand Canyon but I not understanding the issue. If I paid over $300 for this tent and saw it on temu of $53 I be pissed. I feel like Luke is holding outdoor companies to a higher standard. anyone could start a outdoor business and just have temu or aliexpress rebrand a cheap tent or gear. Then charges triple the price for it and make claims that are not true puts unknowing people at risk in the elements. As someone who is an avid outdoorsman, see it all the time. In my opinion Luke is one of a handful that is holding companies accountable for their products. Both on price and quality of the product.

I am glad I got this tent before Captain Cuck here ruined it for everyone else. It's a great tent. The black outer shell has a slightly weird feel to it...not sticky but it's not exactly "nice" Also the extra tie out points are.....drum roll please....extra tie out points. Hilarious that he couldn't figure that out. They help hold up the bathtub floor, if you want to. At least that's my guess lol. Haven't used it in wet weather yet, but it's a good tent for $120, at least it was. The tent pegs aren't the best, but you can just steal the ones they have at Walmart to replace these, and the stock ones aren't that bad.

I'm no Temu fan or any other cheapinese company for that matter BUT the opportunity to purchase one of the previously mentioned tents vaporized. As far as this tent is concerned: those straps are sewn in the wrong place to be stake outs, maybe for cot or hammock use. Waterproof? I doubt it. Thanks for the video.

Temu makes some decent stuff. It's at least as good as any other chinese crap sold at every major retailer in the US. Where they make their money is the copyright and intellectual property infringement. They just copy what they see elsewhere. Well after reading some of the comments I see that I had a similar idea about those straps, I was thinking that they can be use with another pole to make it more stable but it will also need a way to attach to the tent it self, now they can be use to hang the tent to dry, which I think it will be the best use for them but if you figure it out let us know.

I had issues with Temu-- a shady seller selling that Duck Down blanket (the Get Out Gear one, not the Tigris) with photos that showed the duck down version - they sent me the polyester version. I had to send it back and get a refund. Very disappointing. And yes I asked the seller before it sold out was it the duck down version? They were cagey and refused to answer/check, I bought it as it almost sold out, then found when it arrived it was total junk, an overpriced polyester blanket, quite thin actually and not Get Our Gear brand.
