@@TheWoolpatch I'm good. I've just finished 'Thorn' by Martin Storey..... That was a slog!! It's over sized and I love it. Finished socks too. I tend to finish all my projects at the same time so I need to cast on a few things now. Always a good complaint. How's your garden? It's very mucky here. It's say all your friends are missing the shop..... So over lock downs now but of course am sticking to the rules

Great episode as always Stuart. I love the colour way of your Montrealer - so interesting to see how different it looks in the different colour ways. Your quilts are perfect and some great ideas on how to use panels. You have been so busy with your knitting and so adventurous as well with all your colour work. You're a proper knitter ;). I'm on my second sleeve, which I think must be akin to second sock syndrome, so I wish I had done two at a time. Take care xxx Emma

Cheers Curly 1! I'm trying to make the most of this time at home - had one of those guilt moments, that I know many are battling with - not feeling like I'm achieving as much as I should - you know? As for two sleeves at a time....yeah I wouldn't do it any other way now, be it in the round or flat knitting. The first few rows are fiddly and you have to really concentrate, but it soon works out and becomes a little easier. Stuart x

You've been so busy Stuart! I love that beanie - wish I was skilled enough to try it. The quick panel quilts are great, I have a few panels that have just been lying around for years. I should really make some nice kids' blankets out of them. As for Christmas gifts - I didn't get any so I just bought myself a bunch of crafting and sewing stuff! 😆 x J

Hey Johan, yeah lovely an busy here....all this lockdown time haha. Yes, use those panels up and as I say, just chuck some cuddle on the back then you don't have the faff of quilting. @@TheWoolpatch l have always made EPP.. But stash does not go down very quickly. So even though I always have a hand quilt project on the go. I have branched into machine quilts for children who are bereaved . I knit hats throughout the year for charity but not very good at reading patterns for knitting and stick to what I know. I am trying to get into crochet. Knitting socks is a dream.. I know you mentioned sock yarn before but more advice sometime would be great..

Oh wow, you're busy and what lovely things you are doing for charity too. Just email me any questions about Knitting Patterns, I'll be happy to help, especially if it means you knit more hats for charity! I've learned so much about knitting patterns and they differ so much between designers/companies/countries etc. so please email anytime. Sock knitting is a big thing, and it seems to be getting more and more popular too. Companies are making some fab yarn, self striping, or fair isle effects. There are so many ways of knitting them too. I can help with anything. I'm sure to talk about it more on upcoming videos, but as I say any, just drop us a question on here or email and I'll help. Would love to see your quilts and in the gallery too! Stuart :)

Hi Stuart. I enjoyed your video. Your Montrealer looks like a shop bought item!! So neat. The colours do look great. I didn't get yarn or fabric from Santa as he thinks I have enough falling out of every cupboard and drawer in the house. I do like to draw with lead pencil but not too often. I usually draw horses. As I have managed to lose a whopping 4 stone and 7lbs after changing my diet and joining a gym, my new years resolution, if you like, is to just keep on going. I started the couch potatoe to 5k and enjoy running now sooooo much. I love that. Thanks for your video, it was great to see you. Take care xxx

Oh Annie what a wonderful comment! As with regard to your diet/gym and running - WOW brilliant - and I'm with you on that. During the first lockdown when it was all surreal and wierd, I took up running and I've fallen in love with it.....I've never liked cardio but running in the countryside, getting away from it all helped me in so many ways, so I can understand why you love it too! High Five at you for that weigh loss too. Here's to 2021 for sure! P.S. You stash sounds bigger than what I've got in the shop hahah!!! Stuart

My husband surprised me with a Ashford e-spinner, it's been such fun, I'd been using my drop spindle, which takes forever. I had a treadle spinning wheel years ago, which I loved using back when my kids were little, now they are grown up I'm at it again, I started spinning again since Covid started. I am also just getting back into knitting, so thats been keeping me busy as well.

Hey Ann, oh my what a lovely Christmas surprise!! I bet it's fun. If ever I was to persue spinning more I'd have to go electric - I couldn't get the feet and hands doing seperate jobs when I was learning haha!! I know Covid has caused so many upsetting things for so many of us, but it has also made us do other things and reconnect with stuff, so that's wonderful that you're back into spinning and knitting! Keep busy and safe and hear from you soon. Stuart

There are hidden depths to you, Stuart, with your impressive painting! Also impressive is knitting colorwork sleeves two at a time. That's often what I do as well, mostly to make sure that the increases match on both. On the other hand, they do serve some tasty piña coladas on Sleeve Island -- at least they do at my house. ;)

@@TheWoolpatch I've been watching Eleanor since her old shop, I love down to earth and open minded people, with lots of energy so inspiring. I am a knitter which my mother taught me from the age of 7 in the 70's and I learned how to crochet at the age of 18 by a work colleague on my lunch breaks when I did hair dressing, I've always done and loved sewing and doing alterations, soft furnishings and dress making. Which I used as a community learning mentor with the gifted and talented in schools, nower days I just do my designs in knitting and crochet and my sewing... I've done lots of knitting but not put anything on my instagram since last year, when I did my daughters green Cardigan, meanwhile I've done cardigans, jumpers for myself. thankyou for asking, totally appreciate it best wishes jeane

Wow! Really impressed with your Montrealer!!! Beautiful! My challenge to myself for 2021 is to learn colorwork. Seems to me you and I are traveling along a similar path. My first foray into it used 3 colors, but you only knit w/one at a time (the Slipstravaganza - Thank you by the way for putting it into the gallery! That was great fun to be watching and see it!). I asked for a couple books for Christmas this year and got them. Arne & Carlos' 55 Christmas Balls to Knit and the Colorwork Bible. I thought those little balls would be a good place to start trying out stranded colorwork. The Colorwork Bible has been awesome for how-to info. On the 4th ball now... so far so good! Who knows? Maybe there's be a colorwork sweater in 2021 for me!! ; )

Hey Micki! aww thanks for your kind words. Yes looks like we are heading in the same direction re: colourwork! I'm about to start my yoke - so, I'll see how I get on with those strands and Yokes. Currently watching a lot of Rox Knits (She's a knitting goddess in my eyes haha) to help. I saw your Christmas Ball/Bauble post on instagram! looks fabulous! Oo I'm going to have a google of that book. As for the colour work sweater....you never know! It will all depend on the experience of holding two yarns and how I try to do it, normal style or using the left hand style too. We shall see. A fab journey either way. Glad you liked seeing your pic, sorry my email in asking for permission was a tad late. Stuart

0oh I loved Tony Hart. I have a Morph doorstop! I'm looking forward to seeing your artwork. You should frame your Arrival though ! Love the Montrealler and the Sidewinder Hat. Did you see Ray's ( Needles at the Ready) idea to use a button inside the hat to tie the pompom through? I thought that was quite a clever of preventing the pompom from shifting around too much. Yours looked quite stable mind you. Clever x marks the spot block design! I'd probably make napkins with the panel but love the little crib quilt. I like there is no border around the panels because usually they always need to blocked and squared before you use them. Lovely makes in the gallery. Those baby socks are sooo cute. Cardi and jacket look amazing. Bet you can't wait for those. Loved watching ! Take care. Tracey

I know, it's terrible that the picture just sits there. So I will do that. I didn't see Ray mention it, but I have heard of that idea. But these lovafur ones have such a good tie system it actually holds itself very well. I think the pompom has a styled bottom too to help with that. Its funny isnt it regarding those panels without borders as It made me realise how much 'freer' they are compared to the once with borders, which tend to be the norm, but it does put off many. I have the Cardi and the Jacket now....omg they are amazing. Colin's work is stunning so can't wait to show that off very soon! xx from a very long curly 3!!

Happy New Year, great to see you again. Was very lucky and got all the fabric to make Kaffe Fassett's Hot Steps Quilt, currently "looking foeward" to cutting the pieces when I have some time off. Other than that I've got several WIPs I need to plough through from a quilt-top, my mountain mist sweater (Sleeves are EVIL!!!), a doggy sweater, a pair of fingerless mitts, and a Vertices Unite. Keep debating a Montrealler especially now Vincent has expanded the size range, however given how long the Mountain Mist is taking me I'm worried I may never finish. The pastels brought back memories of primary school "art" lessons as for some reason its seems we always used to use them., Get to Secondary School never used them, saying that really can't remember much about art lessons from then, probably was I was too much of a scientist. Can't wait to see you intepretation of the village.

Happy new year to you James, that was a lovely comment! OMG I can't wait to see the KF fabric! Yes, after all the hours you're working, some RandR time with your fabric will be so lovely. Wow lots of WIPS, fab! Is the Mountain Mist top down? You are so right about pastels at Primary school and never at Secondary....I always felt they are treated as a second rate medium. same with watercolours....The always want to do 'fancier' skills like lino printing, mixed media stuff so all the basic stuff like oils, watercolours and pencil work, would just be for early colour theory and never done again. Give me a pencil or a pastel any day - all that blending! hahah. Stuart
