Mid block is just more efficient energy wise (compared to high pressing) and against long ball threats with a sweeper keeper it is a less distance a keeper has to go out and they can make easier decisions

And when they win the ball there is more space to attack in behind the opponents where as when you win the ball in a high block you’re closer to goal but have very little space to attack into

In 3 4 2 1 formation vs 4 4 2 block solution for example is rotation on wide areas. Left wingback push high like winger and number 10 goes on position wingback then cf is on position number 10 on left side. There is 2 vs 1 or 3 vs 2 on side.

4 4 2 vs 4 3 2 1 in defence: For example two strikers play on holding midfielder. When ball is on one side winger goes on fullback,one of strikers goes on central midfielder and defensive midfielder goes on player between the lines. Then formation become 4 4 1 1 or 4 2 3 1. Example for mid block
