I'm using the Ameda Platinum right now and it's working well for me. Is there a smaller pump that operations similarly that you can suggest that will be easier to carry around? The Ameda is too heavy to take outside of the house.

@@genuinelactation for stimulation, I’m on 80 speed and suction strength between 25-30. Expression 60 speed and anywhere between 35 and 50 suction. I go higher on the suction depending on how many times I've pumped and because the pump is gentle.

I definitely feel like the Medela Sonata needs more love, it’s a decent portable option if you like and need the Medela Symphony. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. I also wish the Ameda parts were more hackable - I prefer the Ameda pump but their parts don’t work with anything else and they are hard to come by.

@@genuinelactation I was told by another IBCLC that Ameda parts can only be used with their pumps, is that not true? Similar to Sonata parts not being able to be used with anything else but the Sonata.

@@learntoinvestbetter not quite accurate. Certain ameda pumps should only be used with ameda parts- ameda parts may be used with other pumps. Same with the Sonata- the motor needs the parts its designed for exclusively.

Besides the hygienikit, can other accessories be used with the Ameda Platinum? For example the spectra accessories.

No- piston pumps need parts that can accommodate their suction pattern. For Ameda Platinum you need that backflow protector or your can strain the motor. You can use alternate flanges though with the Maymom Ameda style base.

Could I hack the ardo calypso with spectra tubing and spectra parts? I was sized a way smaller size than the ardo parts provide and I just got it from wic.
