Pump Tracks are popping up as fast as wave pools. So just what are they? I head out to the Inglewood Pump Track to see what all of the excitement is about. Thanks for watching! I'm Brad Jacobson and I'll sea ya soon.

This spot is so great. I love it there. And the workout you get is unparalleled…….. so long as you can ride switch every bit as much as regular. That’s the key.

nice brad! pump tracks actually originated as a bike thing. bmx racing in the early 70s.
@teddyrascal6305Ай бұрын
actually there were no pump tracks in early bmx. Pump tracks started later, and now most bmx tracks are pump track style, with asphalt berms and tack coating on the surface of the dirt, with long sections where you cant pedal. Many bmxers like the old school tracks better... its a totally different skill set. The public pump tracks popping up are a continuous loop, fun on bmx, skating, scooters, roller skates. Super fun, great branching out from the surf stuff. Still loving the channel man, always great stuff.

@@teddyrascal6305 we could be saying the same thing here though. I agree no pump tracks in early bmx. I just think that early BMX tracks are the reason we evolved into what this pump track is today

@@ebifurai415 pretty much sounds like were saying the same thing, I'm just distinguishing old school, doubles, triples, etc, are not pump sections, there was pedaling, flat turns, ant hills etc. Now you can pretty much go to any usabmx track and pump the whole thing without pedaling. But yeah, definitely not skating that started all this fun, hahaah

@@ebifurai415 Yep a pump track is literally born from BMX tracks. On a BMX track we called them rhythm sections or rollers. BMX tracks had paved berms way back in the 80's. Dirt pump tracks came later at the trails which lead to Paved pump tracks. which were made as a way to have a low maintenance, all season place to ride and train. Since all the wheeled actions sports ride and do the same stuff, it was natural progression that everyone from skaters, scooters, etc would gravitate to them. When built right, they're great for all the disciplines. There are a bunch in Cali. The Inglewood one is the biggest one out there I think. FYI Old school BMXers are like most Old schoolers....Out of touch... LOL!!! If they actually rode a pump track, they would love it.

Great video Brad, I was there and wish I could have met you. I was stabilizing the injured skater's lower leg as you arrived. I'm a lifelong surfer and skater and that place is a dreamscape for me. I hope you can come back and skate next time.

I enjoyed this; I'm interested in these places. That said, it's ghoulish to film the aftermath of some stranger's accident.
@wayne5741Ай бұрын
Ghoulish, or a good thing to point out that these places can be dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly (as I did). I hadn't been on a skateboard for almost 40yrs when I recently got one to improve surfing. I went to the skatepark, got excited, got caried away too quickly and broke my wrist on the day I was heading to the shops for protective gear. It's healed well, but at my age, it's already proving it won't ever be 100% again. I'm back in the water surfing, and I'm back on the skateboard, but I'm sure to always wear protective gear, and I'm sticking to the basics in the skatepark.
