@@newguysgarage6802 Because I imagined my wife walking in and seeing an engine in the living room, her reaction would be nothing short of interesting. Then in the kitchen, I already feel as if Im in trouble having this convo with you. But its just too cold to work out in the garage. Shit my last mustang rewiring vid, I did as much crimping in my office, right next to the heater, as i could!

The cold is exactly why my stuff is in the house lol 😆 Ive worked outside in the cold of MN for too long in my life already, and Im doing my best to minimize that 😁 Baaa as long as its got a nice coat of paint on it and looks pretty she wont have any issues 😉 Tell her its a stress reliving device!

Basically a stroker has a bigger displacement due to the larger stroke, usually it will give you more torque throughout the whole Rev range, however this also makes for a higher piston speed at the same rpm compared to a standard stroke engine, usually a square bore to stroke ratio engine with a piston rod length around double the stroke will make the maximum horsepower.
@Mr.man10932 жыл бұрын
Is it that square engines make the most power or that they are the most efficient? I know that using a bore that is about the same as the stroke will increase efficiency by ensuring that the flame-front reaches the cylinder wall at the same time that it meets the top of the piston, but wouldn’t a lower stroked engine allow for more power by allowing the engine to rev higher. I believe this is one of the reasons that race engines tend to have much larger bores than strokes.
@frankrommerts84472 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.man1093 It depends a lot on the application and the displacement of the engine as well, naturally aspirated four-stroke engines on pump gas tend to be most efficient with a square bore to stroke ratio, and a displacement of around 500cc per cylinder.

You also got the odd-ball 351m! It's the opposite of a stroker. They took the 400 and gave it a shorter stroke! That stick is sweet! Tell Tom thanks from me. Get well soon man!

I'd like to see the Cleveland heads on the Windsor block, uno stock ford stuff retro fitted. Like a boss 302. I have a 302 Windsor and a 302 Cleveland, my 'plan' is I'd like to put the heads on and fab a manifold like on a 62 hemi crossram. The manifold is the easy bit to make, but the water jackets are different. Arp make head studs, so bolt on shouldn't be a problem, w7/16 c9/16. Gr8 video thanks.

I probably would have done something like that had i not scored those 165cc AFR Renegade heads with the 2.02 intake valve put in 😅 But i am planning on building that cleveland engine in the future.......if the block is not too far gone that is 😁 And im still not 100% sure what im going to do with the 289 when i get the "302" done 🤔

I have a stroker dilemma. I recently bought an R302 block that was machined but never built. Came with a forged 3.25 crank installed. Cylinders were bored and honed to 4.020. My dilemma is what to do with it. Use that crank and bore cylinders to 4.125 for a big bore 347. Bore cylinders to 4.030 or 4.060 and buy a 3.40 crank and have a 347 or 352. 3rd option is to have 4.125 bore with 3.40 stroke for a 363. I don’t know what to do with it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

@@BrentFrancis-h8o you already have a nice crank so I would say bore it out and make the big bore 347 😃

Hey I have a question I'm thinking about putting new vortec head on my TBI 350 will it hurt the bottom of the motor in the long run
@newguysgarage68022 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't hurt the bottom end unless you dont have enough piston to valve clearance. But that wouldn't be a long term thing....you would find that out really quick 😅
@mserica64872 жыл бұрын
Does this also have a potential to increase vibration?
@newguysgarage68022 жыл бұрын
Vibration and harmonics should not be a factor so long as you have a balanced assembly. Side loading the piston against the cylinder wall can be an issue with too long of a stroke on too short of a block (deck hight) 🙂

Is there any drawback by making my 406sbc into a 421 , it's definitely going to make more total hp and tq but I wonder if it will change the power band. I have an S10
@newguysgarage68022 жыл бұрын
Just need to make sure the cam and piston rods have adequate clearance, and oil pan to rod as well. Also you will want to make sure you have a cam and head combo that better matches the extra cubic inches! (And im sure you know the steam holes in the heads with the 400 too 😉) Otherwise do it! Make a mean machine when she is done 😁
@406MenaceRacecar2 жыл бұрын
I had a GM 509 block with the steam hole thing but I sold it and got an SHP now. After seeing people debate about whether or not the GM blocks are weak, a buddy of mine did break his GM 400 block last summer

All other things being equal, if you add displacement, you will increase peak torque and hp, and it will occur at a lower rpm.

I don't think you can put a 351 crank in a 302 the stroke will hit the bottom of the bores. Biggest you can stroke a 302 is a 347. Or you can get a 363 block.

@@newguysgarage6802 its fun telling people my engines are smaller than they actually are, most people can't tell what size a Pontiac is, because they all look the same on the outside. Same with small Fords, they look the same with minor differences visible under the hood. Lots of crazy changes over the years they made them though.. I have three bellhousings for C4s that require three different flexplates and starters for small Fords.
