I had the the rods in both bones. So a total knee revision. My surgeon is the best. The original replacement loosened because of bone failure. I did not go back to the original surgeon. My new surgeon figured it all out and is a miracle doctor. Thank you Dr. Wood. I would never go to another surgeon ever except him. The best👍👍👍👍

I had both knees replaced (TKR) 19 years ago. I had absolutely no problems with them and was so happy I had them done. Ten years ago, I had a botched foot surgery which cost me one toe and a staph infection (MRSA) in my left knee replacement. We did the abridement since we caught it early, and I did 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. Turns out that it didn't get it all, so I've been living the past 10 years with a low grade infection and taking antibiotics every day. Finally, it started flaring up a bit, so we just decided to do the revision. I'm 5 days out from the last surgery where the block was removed and I got a new replacement. I am doing very well so far, for which I am very grateful. I was so impressed by your video. You explained everything so well. I wish I had seen it prior to all this I've been going through as I wouldn't have been quite as apprehensive. You have no idea how much videos like yours help us or maybe you actually do know as I see you have done several. God bless you, and thank you so very much!

I am getting a big revision soon, with a bar in both the femur and tibia. Because of bone damage it may need a longer bar in the tibia! Thank you making the surgery clearer.

Thanks for the explanation. I've got a break in my tibia plateau, and a loose implant now. (1.5 years after tkr). I'm dreading my upcoming revision but ready to be out of pain. I walked on it for five months thinking, "Huh, my knee is kinda getting worse?" Whoops. 😢

Thanks for the explaination. I had a TKR 7 months ago and I am dealing with persistant swelling, instability and some pain. I fell at about 10 weeks post-op and I'm worried that the implant was loosened by a fracture? I go to see the surgeon next week, but I'm very concerned that I will need revision surgery.

Thanks for info. Going in today for eval. My knee replacement is three years old. Been “noises” and “crackling” right from the start. Very loose and now is locking up and the pain is excruciating. Is that revision worthy or something else!

Knee was absolutely perfect ten I got rear ended by a vehicle as a pedestrian. Now I’m told it’s going to be a revision unless he can’t. Was only 6 years old. No pain or was perfect.

I had a TKR 25 yrs ago and based on current CT pics the upper and lower replacements are still intact but my issue is with patellofemoral polyethylene wear. Because of the age of the replacements would it be better to do a total knee revision versus just repairing the patella area? I ask this to avoid having to repeat revision surgery in a few years when the original replacements loosen.

Thanks for the clear concise information. I had a total knee replacement 1 month ago and am considering whether to run again (but no till at least 6 months.). What I have been told is that high impact usage will wear it out sooner. So l have to weigh that risk against the benefits. I was an age group competitive triathlete before. But maybe the revision is would not be too bad. The other factor is that I turn 70 this year so am I really worried about what happens 20 years from now?

Doctor is knee replacement possible for the age of 33? I had a distal femur fracture last year and my knee isn't bending. What should I do?
@dradamrosen10 күн бұрын
There is no age cut-off. However, some insurance companies attempt to deny knee replacements in the very young. At that age you would most likely need a revision or two in your lifetime depending on how long you live and how active you are.

I have had both knees replaced and I am having problems with my left knee replacement it's making a loud cracking sound and it feels like it's going to pop out of joint what should I do

Has anyone have a rod off plastic and it breaks off in knee
@alexrhughes2 жыл бұрын
Is having just the plastic insert replaced as invasive as a TKR, and is the recovery time and rehab also similar?
@dradamrosen2 жыл бұрын
It is still a surgery but if it is just the plastic that is typically less painful and an easier recovery as opposed to changing all of the metal parts.

After a knee injury I had my right knee replaced in 1999 and it had to be redone with revision 1 year later in 2000. That right knee is still good today 2024. I had the left knee replaced in 2014 and am now removing from a revision of the left knee. I hope it lasts as long as my right knee revision! There sure is a Vast difference in doctors! Just because the doctor tells you he’s good don’t trust it. Ask medical people in the area who is best!
