“Ability to code will help you gain the trust of your dev team” is highly understated. If you can show you can code quickly and with quality, they will respect you. But the fine line to make this work is to not use this ability to micromanage devs and architectural decisions or else you will destroy creativity and motivation.

I and my manager have been looking to uplift my career in the product side of the things but we dont know any better since we both come from an engineering background. The product manager on the other hand will be more focused on the direction of the product using the user interactions / feedback to determine the areas that need to change or be updated.
