Bonjour Lynn. I have got one uli'uli used only for Kahiko Hula. It is red and yellow. Very beautiful implement. French friends always asking about it. Proud to show them what it is used for. Small girls love it. Aloha from France

Do you have a tutorial showing how to dry the gourds and assemble a Ulu Ulu? I found a tree with gourds just waisting away and wanted to try and make one or two.

Aloha, Mahalo nui loa for giving me more info on that. Unfortunately, I do not have a bag or a cover for the uli'uli that I got for my birthday this year so I sit it on my dresser. when you're talking about the 12 and 3 o'clock, do you mean like when you're actually making it rattle or an arm movement that you make while rattling it? and when you say flip it upside down to set it on a shelf, do you mean set it on the gourd or on the cap?

The clock directions refer to the wrist movement while shaking and for storage, lay flat without fabric cap.

iHula Hawaii Mahalo. The only problem is, I don't think I have a detachable cap on mine. I would love to learn to do different dances with these implements. It would be kind of fun.
