So the summary is- Uni-cast = One to One communication, Multi-cast = One to Many / Multiple communication, Broad-cast = One to All Any-cast = One to Nearest / next / closest communication. and Broad-cast is IPv4 specific, while Any-cast is IPv6 specific. @zivelyashiv1169 Great question! IPv4 doesn't technically support anycast, no. However, you are correct in that CDNs have figured out ways to simulate what anycast does in the IPv4 standards by using a combination of unicast and BGP. Does that help? 🙂

I would appreciate to know if gaming PC's need more that unicast. So should I allow Unicast response to multicast and so on? Its all on by default but I do not think I need it because i cant think of a program that uses it them. Thanks in advance. But I have been wrong once before. Thanks in advance

You explained unicast and multicast well and maybe anycast. But you didn't explain the difference between multicast and broadcast that well, since they sound similar. more examples are needed to illustrate the differences. You also said we moved away from broadcast to anycast. you need more examples illustrating that point.

Ok I understand these types of transmissions, but why no one is explaining how they work in the real world? Do I choose which type of transmission my device should be using ? or does it automatically figure that out?? like does it automatically use multicast when i'm trying to communicate with 2 devices ? ??
