I recently was approached by a company to be a social media ambassador and they sent me a photo release form. Now my channel is relatively new and I've never partnered with any company before. Do I need to worry about anything within the release form? Red flags to look for? The part I am somewhat concerned about is it states "any photograph using my likeness will be their (company's name) property and not be returned. Now, what happens if I am no longer partnered with them (years later). Can they still use my image without paying me?

Hi Flopping, sorry for the late reply to your comment. We cannot give any legal advise and it is hard to give specific advise without seeing the release form, however if you are worried about the use of your image years down the track I would perhaps negotiate the release form to have a clause that states that they are only allowed to use your image for a certain period eg. 24 months, 3years etc. We hope this helps

Hi Matthew, sorry for the late reply! We cannot give any proper legal advice and it's also hard to give specific advice when we don't know the exact nature of what you are filming and how it will be used later on. Having said that there are location release forms readily available online. A location release form is a binding contract between the photographer and the owner(s) of private property within or upon which a photograph/video was taken. By signing the release, the owner of the property forgoes the right to sue for specific types of claims.
