I have been using a VPN for years and it truly one of the best ways to keep my home business data safe. I found this out the hard way several years ago when my network was hacked. I like the idea of keeping both my identity and computer safe. I also like knowing I am safe when using my computer on pubic WiFi.

I always think outside the box. If the VPN reroutes your information to different servers, what prevents the servers from hacking one..? Seems like to me , the only one who don't has access to my information is my own network.

Great info. I am spending the weekend trying to decide on which VPN to go with. I did a search a few days ago on a health problem a family member has - and at the very bottom, below the "More" button, was my precise location. I've know for a long time that my internet activity was tracked, but did not realize how precise it was. I have researched VPN's for months already, so I am now considering one of 3 or 4, and, as I am writing this, am trying one. Last night I tried another. I am willing to pay to have more privacy on the internet. The two VPN's I have tried so far, have not slowed my connection too badly. But, then, I have very fast internet, so that might have something to do with it.

I'm not clear about your question. Anytime there is a switch between protocols or servers, there is naturally a small window of time that you are unsecured online.

No they aren't using a VPN. However your ISP can look at your data and even sell it. Using a VPN encrypts all data you send so nobody can intercept it and sell it (without decrypting it correct first of course). Some ISPs will never sell your data or even look while others can. And most don't need to tell you if they handed any data over to police if it was part of an investigation of some kind.

From a network standpoint, no. But a VPN does hide your IP address and cloaks your activity so that your ISP (internet service provider) can't snoop in on what you're doing. It all depends on what you want to secure.

Im confused you said VPN is not an "internet connection" it just reroute you or secure way...but how come everytime i use my "modem" with "sim card" and use my VPN i can connect to the internet? You can't connect to a VPN without having a connection to the internet. Perhaps you're using your cell phone connection or a wifi connection, but without some sort of internet connection, a VPN is useless.

How do we know that our VPN provider is secure? secondly, some sites will not allow you to use a VPN, for example you mentioned Amazon streaming services in your presentation, they will not allow users of their site to use a VPN, why not I wonder.

As with everything on the internet, there's a level of trust you have to have in order to use a service. A VPN is no different. As for sites like Amazon, they don't want users connecting via a VPN because of their licensing agreements. I think your presentation style is one of the best I've ever seen. Good facts, easy to understand, no cool dude talk nor loud and irritating music. I have only one piece of advice. VPN seems to have taken on two meanings that should be distinguished. One is the one you explained regarding increasing one's privacy but the other is in connecting two or more of one's own networks together. I was searching for information on the latter. I'm convinced of the value of setting up and using a VPN but there don't seem to be any videos on what comes next. How one uses the VPN once set up. I still prefer using my data plan for everything, including KZbin and Netflix. It's really cheap today. I don't knows how it works, but Netflix always knows I'm using a proxy. However some internacional TV channels that also broadcast online aren't that strict and you whatever watch stuff from other countries. Thanks a lot for the video.
