hi dr My daughter has alopecia 8 years ago and she still lacks half of her hair. What advice do I give my daughter?

Eight years old is a tough age, as some are not ready ready to try injections of steroid, which can often work well. Its most important that you find a dermatologist who is comfortable treating children, and is also a hair loss specialist.

Hello Dr. I’m a 47 year old male who has male pattern baldness and alopecia aerota. My SALT is 90. I have very sparse eyebrows and a minimal mustache and beard. I’m under the care of a great dermatologist who recently recommended Olumiant. I finally got the pills and will take the first one in the morning. Do you think this medication will work. My doctor recommended that I take the shingles vaccine and the pneumonia vaccine and I took both of them.

Olumiant is a new medication, so no one has long term experience with it. I'm very excited about it however, and have started a number of patients on it. It sounds like you have an appropriately aggressive Dermatologist, and I recommend following his/her recommendations.

I am sorry to hear you are having hair loss. Alopecia areata requires long term management from a local dermatologist to best determine optimal therapies. Please find someone close to where you live.
