@@FoxtrotYankeeHotel That explains the deep seated emptiness in my heart.
@beastlypotato39884 жыл бұрын
Steven studying chemical engineering rn. That’s now how atoms work. And no, the phase (solid, liquid, gas) is not dependent on the number of atoms in a molecule. The phase is dependent on several factors, but ultimately boils down to how attracted the molecules in a substance are to each other.
@beastlypotato39884 жыл бұрын
Steven also, atoms are not 99.999% empty space. Science has come to understand that electrons do not simply orbit atoms. They’re much more complex and act as quantum particles. Thus, the Bohr model of the atom (the model that says there’s all that empty space) is not correct. Also, many atoms are much more dense than the Hydrogen atom, which is the one that most people cite as being mostly empty.

Now with 4k resolution, AA is useless right?
@andrehallqvist44910 жыл бұрын
Depends on the size of the screen and it's distance. The eye has a "resolution" of 300dpi at arms length. A 30" 4k display is about 150dpi.
@ireminmon10 жыл бұрын
Andre Hallqvist Resolution is not measured i dpi. Gaming mouse sensor frequencies are measured in dpi. Pixel density is measured in PPI with P. And even though I don't really belive that story, people claim that the resolution of a human eye is 576 megapixels. I still think it's all analogue in there. Apple claims that average human eye is not able to confidently detect any difference in sharpness at densities over 320ppi on 5 inches of viewing distance, as far as I can remember. The other thing is that individuals with good visions claim they can easily see the difference in densities up to 900ppi. When you are 86, it won't matter to you, wether it's 100 or 450 ppi, you won't be able to see the difference without glasses.
@levi79910 жыл бұрын
Well, see it like this. If you use now have a 1080p screen and then you buy a 4K with the same screen size and you sit at the same distance from it then the effect should be that you have 4x AA on even though you don't. Your graphics card will still have to work just as hard though since in 4x AA your screen samples around the pixels and the performance hit is comparable to having a 4K screen. In other words if your GPU can handle 4x AA it should handle the same performance with 4x AA off and looking the same. The problem is that your GPU probably doesn't have enough vRAM to support 4k.
@andrehallqvist44910 жыл бұрын
Voyd Void What kind of 4x AA are you refering to? The performance hit will only be comparable if you use the most demanding types of aa. The image will never be comparable though. No matter what algorithm you use, the image wont look as good as increasing the resolution. To get the same effect you must sit further from the screen.
@levi79910 жыл бұрын
Andre Hallqvist I don't remember. It was a long time I studied computer graphics. I just remember that there was one 4x AA where the computation was comparable to rendering 4 times the resolution. The same applied to 2x, 8x and so on.

20 years of gaming and I think I can count on 1 hand the number of instances I've actually seen AA have a noticeable difference lol. Most of these have been things akin to power lines (or similar) in a game, when viewed from certain angles. AA can, depending on settings and setting, also give an unnescessary "blurry" effect. Both AA and sharpening effects are basically DIY solutions to fixing something that came faulty out of the box, in many cases.

Minecraft's look has nothing to do with (a lack of) antialiasing. They're using very low-resolution 16x16 textures, which are scaled up a lot to a single block's face, with nearest-neigbour scaling. This results in the classic 8-bit look, and they're doing this on purpose. It's just as easy to install a 128x128 texture pack, and it would look a lot less pixelated.

It's like getting more free samples at the food court. The more you have, the better it is..except you will run slower.

Possible to do a decade later revamp? I can't say the vid didn't teach me anything, reason being I'd love to have the modern team of editors. Along with easy to understand informative graphical "props". Always love the content you gift us youtube university folk! Higher resolution is way more demanding

I ran in to an issue with GTA V PC. When I used any AA, even on the lowest settings I got worse FPS than is I used no AA and upped the resolution from 1080p to 4k! Do you have any idea why that would be?
@BasilMinhas8 жыл бұрын
+SXG - Smileys Xtreme Gaming first of all GTA V is very demanding and secondly 2160p takes 4 times the power to run than 1080p
@FUSZION8 жыл бұрын
...ok...but that didnt really answer my question... Why is it then that it runs better at 4k with no AA than it does at 1080p with x2 AA?

NEVAR, no, actually it depends on what you're using your panel for and how close you are to it.

TheBlackStealth Definitely, I didn't even think about this. 1080p on a 24" and a 32" would make a huge difference.

Hey guys. Quick tip: If you want anti-aliasing, enable it in your graphics driver instead of in games. That way it takes much less resources.
@antonarasx9 жыл бұрын
skullhacks78 how can i do this man?
@SageManeja9 жыл бұрын
If you have an AMD card, open Catalyst Control Center and enable antialiasing. Make sure you turned it off in the game. Having it enabled in both won't be good for your FPS !

But even games running at 1080p will look better wtih AA on a 1080p monitor. I think the only time AA does not make much of a difference is when you are running a game at 1080p on an HD ready monitor (768P)
@IcoKirov10 жыл бұрын
you are not entirely correct. it depends more on the size of the screen (in inches) and the distance you are looking at it. like, like you say 1080p monitor - can be 40 inches, but it can be 4 inches (the new mobile phones). both of them are 1080p but you will definitely need AA on the 40" display, because you will be able to see the pixel, especially if you are close, while on the 4" no matter how close you are the pixels would not be so visible, so the "staircase effect" will not be visible as well (although AA will still help make the objects looks better and smoother)
@BeRad11710 жыл бұрын
IcoKirov I was kind of going more under the impression that the screen size was about 21.5 inches or a little bit higher with respect. But yeah that is true to that they do have phones now with higher resolutions.
@IcoKirov10 жыл бұрын
BeRad117 well i was talking more in theory, but there are all kind of 1080p displays. mine is 24"... there are 29", there are 19"... i can't give you example for bigger monitors, but if we add TVs to the equation then we can go up to 40" and higher for 1080p display the point is AA remove the staircase you see. if you see the staircase, it doesnt really matter what is the resolution you will need to put AA to remove it. and the opposite, if the resolution is low, but you don't see staircases then you don't really need AA. there is one other think i like to use AA tho. although sometimes i don;t really see the staircase, the objects looks like cut from paper on top of the other objects... just the edges looks really sharp, when you turn AA on, this is removed and everything is buttery smooth.
@BeRad11710 жыл бұрын
God damnit brocookie this is the OP comment puu.sh/9flmJ/1083a19238.png My response is how you can't even run 1920 x 1080 on a monitor that only supports a lower resolution.
@FKProds10 жыл бұрын
BeRad117 You can actually. In most games, they have either a super-sampling option or a render resolution as well as the actual display resolution.
