If all the devices/PC's in the network gets assigned random IP from APIPA address range. Then whats stopping two machines in the network to get assigned with same APIPA IP address. i.e how is IP conflict avoided ?
@manasansiva88784 жыл бұрын
Before assigning a new random IP, windows will try reaching that IP on the local network to check whether there is someone with that same IP, then only it will assign it

The address resolution protocol aka ARP.

@@just_the_job so mean to say ip conflicts doesn't happens in APIPA ?
@imedita Жыл бұрын
Hi Yogesh APIPA addresses are chosen randomly, reducing the chance of conflicts. However, if a conflict does occur, devices will detect it through ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) and resolve it by choosing a different APIPA address.

Is it works on internet
@sudhanshubhat5 жыл бұрын
Like I said in the video - APIPA cannot be used to communicate with devices in other networks. So you cannot use it to communicate on internet.

@imedita Жыл бұрын
Hi Jyoti, If DHCP is not working, ensure that the network doesn't have conflicting APIPA addresses (169.254.x.x) and that the DHCP server is configured correctly on the network.
