I am also high masking. I never thought I had an issue with eye contact until I realized it isn't normal to conscientiously match my level of eye contact to someone else's. With family and close friends, I have found it freeing to not make much eye contact.

Sometimes I feel like I'm not heard unless others are looking at me, because I've been shown how important it is to "look at" the person talking. So now I feel others don't "hear" me unless they're looking at me. But I hate looking people in the eyes for any longer than a few seconds at a time. 😅

Hi, I'm a level 2 autistic human, undiagnosed during childhood. I really appreciate this video, it makes things easier for neurotypicals. They usually don't understand. Neurotypicals are so weird. Thank you for your advocacy.

I used to chew on the ends of my hair. I also used to cheswon blankets. In fact, I chewed up several blankets over time. Even now, I chew on towels I use when it's super hot outside and I get sweaty.

Thank you so much for this beautiful video! I was laughing during the food part. My son is on the “beige diet” too. 😊 I seek more variety like you, but I tend to be more restrictive since I found out I was autistic. Maybe I am finally allowing myself to be more “picky”, since it was not an option when I was little? Being the good girl and all…. 😌 Also I am always the last one to get a joke, I laugh politely and spend another hour figuring it out… Thanks again, your videos are really lovely! Kamila

9:10 I have a automatic routine echolalia where as I start cooking dinner I get stuck singing the intro and only the intro of a Backstreet boys song. I hate it sooo much and I cannot stop!!!

12:34 have you tried flare earplugs? It minimizes the impact of sound. I love mine. Some sounds still.bother me but the severity isnt as bad. And for smaller ones that could build up and get to me over time it helps me tune them out. I got a pair of the nighttime ones for xmas after my bfs friend recommemded them. I work retail and wore them at work the other day and i wanted to cry from being happy how less awful the day was and the sounds not being so painful (I have not tried other brands so cant speak to their quality)

I haven’t! I would be interested in trying them though!
