i have many implants and generally happy with them , now the tooth number 9 implant taht was put in 12 years ago broke off in half ( while eating grapes ) . The crown and abuttment and part of implant came off and the other half is firmly and comfortably in the jaw bone without pain . An extraction of the broken implant , then a bone graft and a new implant is an option but not my priority . Instead i am thinking if a monodont bridge would work considering that the adjacant teeth are also implants with porcelain crowns . Please advise .
@VeryNiceSmileDental2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I don't recommend the Monodont bridge for teeth that are crowned. The type of prep that the Monodont requires can cause porcelain crowns to crack.

I had two missing lateral incisors replaced with zirconia fixed dental bridges and as well three bottom teeth replaced due to hypodontia. I wish I got dental implants instead and get depressed, as I feel I destroyed my natural teeth and fear the repercussions of having done this. I was told i didn't have enough space for dental implants for the lateral incisors and would have needed braces which would have been expensive , and had no bone for the bottom teeth. I was young when I had this done, and didn't fully contemplate how destructive bridges can be!!

@VeryNiceSmileDental2 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. Keep in mind that dental implants can have issues over time. Especially if you have one placed at an early age. The mouth and face can continue to grow, while the implant stays in one place. It results in the implant tooth looking shorter than the other teeth. Once the crown is replaced to match the teeth, the implant will look too long. I'll post a photo in my community tab on my channel so you can see what I'm talking about.

Gotcha. A missing lateral incisor can be replaced with a fixed bridge. Depending on your situation, another attempt at an implant may be possible, but get a third and fourth opinion. See an oral surgeon who does implants in your situation. ( or a periodontist). 3.13 mm of width will likely need bone grafting to bulk it up a bit.

I dont like the invasive aspect of implant, so would the 2nd option be suitable to be comfortable and assist with stopping other teeth movement and or bone erosion? @VeryNiceSmileDental2 жыл бұрын
Just to be clear, you're having one tooth pulled, and two other teeth are already missing, is that correct? If that is the situation, your options are usually two implants and a three tooth bridge on the implants (the bridge stays in permanently) or a removable bridge that you have to take out every night. Of those two options, the implant bridge is the better option. I don't recommend fixed bridges on teeth that are that long ( it would be a 5 tooth bridge, the three missing teeth and a tooth on either side of the space to hold it up). I hope that makes sense, let me know if it doesn't.
