He’s just trying to survive. Being the head of your own criminal empire is a great way to survive. Plus he can turn the underworld into a relatively better place. Crime will always exist. Someone else would take over if not Boba. But it would probably be someone like Jabba again. So Boba can both make money, survive, and do relative good at the same time. Win win scenario.

He's old and growing more interested in his legacy and serving himself rather than constantly struggling as a bounty hunter to serve others. He saw how that served his father, he experienced how it served him. I don't think it's that strange.

It's should also be noted that Boba fett is probably in his mid to late 40s, eventually his reflexes will not be up to snuff and his last near death experience probably demonstrated that he will not last forever as he is now as a lone bounty hunter. It is also possible that he wants restore his fathers clan/faction, a deep regret in Jangos life. Both problems are rather easily resolved by taking over the remains of Jabba the hutts enterprise, he knows the ins and outs too and has honestly a good shot of not only taking over but also be legitimized by the new republic who desperately needs allies or at the very least warlords who won't point and shoot guns at them at first response. This seems to be a long overdue promotion/retirement plan on Boba's part.

It's also worth pointing out that Boba was said to be obsessed with *his* idea of justice. Of course, his idea of justice was highly colored by his desire for revenge against the Jedi who he saw as cowards who used their Force abilities to selectively defeat opponents without such abilities for what looked like (and often were) political reasons, but not to correct fundamental injustices like slavery. That's why he took contracts with the Empire who he saw as an ally against the Jedi. Bu yes, he fundamentally sought universal order even if it was what others called tyranny.

@@francoscicolone9534 it's possible that if boba continues to help din, that will legitimize himself and his father to other mandalorians. Though he never claims to be one it is an unspoken subject. Also din mirrors boba in alot ways that makes him a kindred spirit to him, especially since he both recognized and honored his claim to bobas armor, albeit after a scuffle. If he has any tabs and any interest to mandalorian politics, it's safe to assume that din would most likely to be the best choice to be mandalore, at least for boba fett atleast.

In a way, I see Boba Fett like I see John Wick - he’s a man who just wants to honor a loved one and live a simple life after living a life full of chaos and violence. What I'm hoping for is that Boba Fett is like Michael Corleone, in that he organizes the gangs under his control, takes out the less reliable and the uncooperative ones, and builds a criminal empire. I want to see him battle against other organizations, like Crimson Dawn, or ex Imperials turned warlords. And if "friendlies" show up, like Din Djarin or Bo Katan, maybe they'll be a bit of conflict there too, at times anyway. I want the book of Boba Fett to be 50% Godfather, 50% Gangs of New York.

I'm wondering how Bib Fortuna survived the destruction of Jabba's Sail barge. Did he slip away after Jabba died but before the barge blew up? I'm sure Florida and Favreau will explain it somehow. This new show looks like it will expand the lore of the Star Wars underworld which I thought The Mandalorian was going to do.

I think shows and films in the Star Wars Universe that focus on one central character are NOT what Star Wars is all about. I expect the toxic side of the fandom will hate the show. There will be a vocal demographic that will not like the characterization. “Not my Boba Fett.” “I expect the same to happen with the Obi-Wan” series. After Vader fell to the dark side, he retreated to the Outer Rim, and stopped being an active Jedi, which is EXACTLY the path that Luke followed.

I mean the original trilogy was pretty much focused on Luke, and the prequels on Anakin. Even the widely well regarded Clone Wars basically boiled down to something Mace says in one of the first episodes... "The only Jedi we have available are Skywalker and Kenobi*" or at least like 90% of the content. I think people care more about telling good stories and remaining true to the established lore while building on it in a complimentary, not contradictory fashion. *Togruta Padawans also included

This is purely conjecture, but maybe Boba let Cobb use the armor (originally Jango’s) because he was using it for a good cause, to protect the townsfolk. And Jango was all about doing what was honorable. Plus in Legends, Jango was essentially a lawman on Concord Dawn before being a hunter. I don’t know if they’re gonna make that Jango’s canon backstory, but if so, maybe Boba saw some Jango in Cobb.

My theory on how Biv Fortuna stayed in command of Jabba's empire for so long was due to the fact that 1) The other members of the Hutt Cartel were all dead; killed by Darth Vader; 2) Fortuna kept the death of Jabba a secret all that time, since Jabba rarely travelled or left his stronghold after the death of his relatives. So Boba only had Fortuna to kill in order to take over the entire Hutt Cartel.

I find the lack of commentary regarding Bobas time in the sarlacc to be interesting... The sarlacc is a sentient creature, and integrates itself into its victims, especially those that also are sentient, to prolong their lives to compensate for its remarkably show digestion. In doing so, it connects its victims into a sort of hive mind/shared consciousness. How would Boba Fett be affected by his time in the hive? The sarlacc he fell into, the "Great Pit of Carcoon," had been used as a form of entertainment/execution for Jabba for decades, just imagine the wealth of pooled knowledge available... and as many victims would invariably have been enemies of Jabba, I imagine the collective knowledge regarding the inner workings of his cartel would've been abundant. Boba Fett could be poised to be the most effective, ruthless, and yet restrained criminal ring leader the starwars universe has yet seen.

Originally I had thought that Boba Fett was going to bring all of the scattered Mandalorian clans to Tatooine in order to start a new system of government where he could be the leader instead of Bo Katan or Din Djarrin. This could still be the case in that he’s trying to start a new organization based on the super commando codex. We will just have to wait and see.

Just because Boba helped Dinn out of cultural affinity doesn't mean he's a good person. You don't become the most feared murderous kidnapper (bounty hunter) by being a good person.
