So, I was expecting a better explanation on how it works for fat loss. Maybe you could do that video next.

I have read that if you “cheat on Keto with carbs”, you’ll waste a whole week of ketosis and will need a whole week to get back into ketosis. Hence I am terrified of eating more carb than I am allowed on Keto. But your carb cycling reassures me that I can enjoy going out with my family and friends every now and then.

it depends on how much glycogen stored in your liver, it won’t take a week to clear your liver, so just eat whatever you want on cheat day, or else it’s not cheat😢

this really depends on a couple of factors. I'm not on a 'keto diet' per se but I am in ketosis from eating low carbs (typically under 50g a day) and OMAD. After doing it consistently for several months I celebrated a holiday with my family and just ate normal which was a bunch of carb ladened foods and I also ate all day long. The next day I went right back to OMAD low carb and this had NO effect on my weightloss which was surprising. However I notice if I do one day a week with higher carbs (like 70gr) consistently then weightloss slows down. I still can lose it just takes longer. So I think if you're doing probably any diet really strictly for a while and then you take a day or maybe even two days off and then get back on it might be beneficial but having regular "cheat" days might be good if it makes the diet tolerable for you but metabolically seems to delay some progress.

The most important thing about eating some carbs (albeit limited, maybe none on aerobic/rest days) is carbs stop the metabolism crashing. Weight training/HIIT like sprinting also keep the metabolism up. Conversely an extended period of calorie deficit and no carbs (keto) tank the metabolism and stop fat loss. However those two things above that tank the metabolism are needed to lose fat. Catch 22, so carb cycling should help.

I've heard that eating lots of carbs on one or two days a week tricks your body into Not reducing your metabolism when you are majorly restricting carb for many months to lose weight. Is that true?

yes. super low carb slows down thyroid hormone/slows down metabolism. shaking things up w carbs keep thyroid from down regulating also the reduced cal deficit as well. best to cycle carbs on high cal days as well. high cal/high carb, cycled w low cal/low carb.

depends on person, activity levels and protein needs i suppose. when i'm on track i eat nothing but lean meats: chicken breast, steak, egg whites...greek yogurt or low fat cottage cheese. i'll have a few cups of greeb veg per day. i eat at maintenance cals once a week and have carbs...look up psmf...rusty moore or lyle mcdonald..basically eat adequate (not tons) of protein. low/no fat and carb w limited free meals or refeed periods depending on weight/body fat % @@jeffreyfernald

I’m on an extreme keto and caloric deficient diet. I’ve lost 12 pounds in 8 days. Healthy? No. But on days I train I eat about 30-40 grams of carbs before a workout and then on the next day I’m under 20 carbs and 1200 calories per day. I nap a lot and sip on a little sugar free drink during my toughest moments. I’m still building muscle during my deficit of 1000 calories. I never thought I could. Sleep and plenty of proteins are doing the trick. Eggs and lean chicken and fish. I’m working out every other day now.

Losing 12 pounds whilst starting on Keto isn’t unhealthy that’s normal cause that’s mainly water weight falling off and water weight tends to come off really quickly when starting Keto, it should slow down. Has it?
@markrubaramira4881
@markrubaramira4881 Жыл бұрын
Extreme keto and caloric deficit is not a good idea at all, when you keep doing it you will end up lacking what to spend compared to what you ingest due to low energy expenditure, and here a platue will come in and maybe end up giving up or resuming on eating normal as before, this will bring back the weight you lost twice in the first place than before, consider carb cycling would be helpful..

@@markrubaramira4881 i'm doing a psmf, which is reduced cal and low carb as well as low fat. keto gets a lot of cals from fat. im limiting fats to egg yolk, fatty fish, low fat greek yogurt and carb from veg only. how would you suggest carb cycling? i assume i should periodically cycle cals too. i assume high cal/carb days then low cal/low carb days....maybe go high every 3rd day? what would be a good cycle keep in mind my low days are very low. ive seen cycles w 300 or 250 gm w 200 and 100 gm as the low days. thats way too much for me...lokking max fat loss without screwing up metabolism

I just started doing carb cycling. One day high carbs then 2 days low carbs. I can only get about 200 grams of carbs on the high days and then about 40 grams of carbs on the low days. I check my blood sugar every morning and have noticed that on the high carb days my overnight blood sugar is in the 90's. Then on my low carb days it drops to 80's. On the second day of my low carb day my blood sugar is several points lower then my the morning after my high carb day. That tells me that I am ready for my high carb day again. I've notice my muscles are filling out and my waist has gotten smaller. I don't worry about scale weight anymore. It just goes up and down too much.

Can carb cycling create a dependency on carbs for the body and when you lower carbs on a certain day your body uses fat for energy therefore burning fat
@rkirwan1
@rkirwan1 2 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't create any form of dependency but on days with fewer carbs the body will be using more fat for energy... that doesn't necessarily translate to body fat loss though. A calorie deficit is needed for that.

This is carb TIMING that your explaining. Not carb cycling….timing is good too for better workouts….carb cycling makes sure your metabolism doesn’t dip too far. Ex: Like eating very low carb 4 days a week & then moderate carb amounts on days of resistance training. Or low carb the whole week, then high carb on the the 7th day of the week to replenish glycogen. You guys should check out Thomas DeLauer or Paul Revelia speak on this subject.
