I'm with you! I know what getting by is like, but how about living better and living well? Or else why make the journey to the other side of the world? I know that I do OK here, but could live like the rich over there. Fly Me To The PI makes many sober, compelling arguments for making the flight. I was once a forward deployed 7th Fleet sailor who used to visit Subic Bay often back in the mid to late 1970s when I was a kid. We even spent a week on R&R in Dumaguete before heading out to the Indian Ocean, which I thought was a paradise and a world away from the insanity that was Subic Bay when there were more than a few ships in port.

The reality of the Philippines is that although by the US and other Western economies comparison we pay a lot less in the Philippines, but the Economy in the West is multiples larger and there is no real comparison from that perspective. That said yes you can live in the PI more affordably but in a lot of areas of the economy there you will get less in terms of quality. For expats there are multitude of considerations that should be researched with a Critical eye so you are not underestimating the many areas of life and quality of life Indexes. Another consideration is it really your new home or are you a visitor that is staying long? Most US and Westerners will inevitably return primarily because of family, financial considerations, and near end of life wishes. Do not wear Rose colored glasses be a realist and not paint a unrealistic expectation and lifestyle.

Our average spending per month is around $2500 for everything. So you are correct, those that come here living on $600 out of a total of $1500 a month are not living great... They are simply living. But in their defense, back in their countries, they would end up homeless. SO they tend to go where they can afford to live.

That’s why I think it would be a good video topic and Rob may want to buy a house someday…Lastly the casual dress is great! But my Filipina was so upset I wear only 1 pair of shorts and had only 2 shirts on my last trip, she was washing my shirt every night since I always spill on the front! I definitely felt some affection about her attention to my cloths. I thought I could buy shirts in Cebu but all were too small!

Dang.. I may be conferring with you soon. My retirement income from about 4 pensions alone will allow me to live the dream life there. What is the email address to use to schedule a consult. I am retired USN as well and can maybe take advantage of the VA system there?

Hey guys.. ok, done watching the video, first must tell you, you are one of my favorite xpat channels. Can i ask few questions about subject of money?? ok, i come from Europe, Slovenia, and i found myself a beautiful girl from Lapu Lapu city.. i intend a first visit in december this year for 40 days.. the question is would like 2000€ be enough for that time? (not including apartment and a car rental).. that is like 50€ per day. My girl is, can i say.. not high maintenance and i think for exploring the islands and having a good time with a little budgeting 2000€ would do for 2 people for 40 days. what are your thoughts? When im there maybe we can also get some coffee if you'll have the time, i would really be honored to meet you. 😋😋.. And .. thank you for the videos, it is really nice to see both of your daily routines, so keep it up.
@FlyMeToThePhilippines5 ай бұрын
Yes, I think that’s doable. You should check out our video on the 30 day exploration. We give three different budgets. You’ll get a sense of what daily living expenses will be if you’re gonna move around a lot it’ll increase your expenses, but I think it’s very dual and we’d love to meet you

@@FlyMeToThePhilippines 👍thank you for your answer. Thing is, i intend to make lapu lapu like "base of operations 😋" i already booked smaller apartment an a car there, so primary explorations would be Cebu island.. Plans are to do some travels and go out of Philippines for a day or two so we (me and my girl) get some photos of us being together travelling so later next year i can get her to europe to visit me (i heard it is easier i a couple is traveling together and you can prove it to officials). I guess a week would be to visit like 2 other locations / islands. So that would be "the expensive part", but other time .. like 30 days we would be more or less local to Lapu Lapu and around. Hey, about coffee.. it's a deal, expect an email when in december. 😁😁 and thank you for your answer above. Best Regards, Sebastian.

The ribeye steak is a bit pricey at Cuesta Roccia, but that is expected without a large beef industry, like in the U.S. Every place has its trade offs, and I shouldn't be eating lots of red meat anyway. 😁

I was tempted by the tenderloin. It’s more reasonable, but yes, I don’t eat much beef here.

Which area is this house for ~800$ ? Since the weather seems good, not that hot and even a bit "windy". 😲 I earn around 6.000€ a month, but without taxes. After taxes it's a bit less though. I can work via Internet so I could move from Germany to the Philippines. Maybe there are ways I can pay taxes elsewhere instead of everything to Germany, but that's another topic... But here in Germany after all taxes I got ~3.600€++ left each month. I don't know if there are any transactions fees if you transfer the € to Philippine Pesos but anyways, it seems I could afford such a beautiful place right now. I'm 38 and far from retirement. I wanted to buy a house here in Germany for 500.000€ of my savings... But right now I'm really thinking about visiting the Philippines and considering buying something there. But what I read is that you can't own "land" but you can own the house on the land as a non Philippines citizen... That means it makes it a bit more complicated! You would need to buy the land of your Wife's name and make heavy contracts and so on, in case she leaves you, you don't lose everything you invested... I want to check out if a Philippine Company can own land (property) so that you could theoretically create a company and buy the stuff to that company though. Kinda the same way my Irish Company (Ltd. & Co KG) can do stuff in Europe... A lot to figure out. But can you tell me, which area this video was made? ☺️

Best authority I can find for 2024 > rent is 86% cheaper -- and -- food is 53% cheaper - in the Philippines compared to the US. -- That equates to about 70% cheaper than the US !!! --- The 2 most expensive typical monthly expenses. -?- I personally want to buy a tuk tuk for my personal transportation -- which will also be tremendously cheaper than a car in the US. --- Hard to believe the lifestyle "tradeoff" you can have -- IF -- you can stay healthy ! If you have any serious issues - you will need a lot of $ to pay for it yourself - even with insurance. And if your over 70 years old - no one will likely insure you at all !!!!!! (Or if they do the premium will be unaffordable.) --- Just so you know the rest of the story. > They don't value human life over $ like in the US. If you can't pay in advance they will let you die !!!!!!!!! -- -- -- '''Now you know the rest of the story''' - as Paul Harvey used to say...... Good day. -- -- -- And 'good luck'.

@@dominicgerodano5481 Exactly, As an American that's lived here in the Philippines over 30+ years and I speak the language and I'm a dual citizen this is nothing new however it's not easy living here for most that have lived in developed countries. Most of their lives. I easily adjusted when I came here. I was earning dollars and had all the conveniences of the west overtime I transitioned into normal society started a business and now in my retirement net about 13K USD a month I have six children. They're all adults and professionals. I have a very comfortable life here. Most people don't live like me. Very few expats can last here more then 10 years

I am on the central coast of California (Monterey, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach) and am planning on making a month long exploratory trip to the Philippines late 2025. I have several concerns about retiring there and first and foremost is the hot and humid weather. Where I live near the ocean and average day is 70F and there is zero sticky high humidity. I’ve been researching slightly higher elevations with cooler climates. Baguio sounded good but it appears to be absolutely jam packed with people which would rule it out for me. If you visit there I’d love to get your thoughts about the weather (might be too cold and rainy), internet quality and the overcrowding especially in the summertime. Great video! CDO is now on my list and for larger cities I really like Davao City over Cebu for several reasons.

Because they have work or Family Working overseas, or they are some of the Rich / well connected Familys in the Country. Many buys 2 or more Condos for investment and hire them out, when finished.
