I'm with you! I know what getting by is like, but how about living better and living well? Or else why make the journey to the other side of the world? I know that I do OK here, but could live like the rich over there. Fly Me To The PI makes many sober, compelling arguments for making the flight. I was once a forward deployed 7th Fleet sailor who used to visit Subic Bay often back in the mid to late 1970s when I was a kid. We even spent a week on R&R in Dumaguete before heading out to the Indian Ocean, which I thought was a paradise and a world away from the insanity that was Subic Bay when there were more than a few ships in port.

Filipinas overlook age when there's financial benefit to them. That's what it comes down to. They wouldn't overlook your age if you were broke. As long as both parties understand the deal I don't see the issue but let's not delude ourselves that they just see the inner beauty or something.

The reality of the Philippines is that although by the US and other Western economies comparison we pay a lot less in the Philippines, but the Economy in the West is multiples larger and there is no real comparison from that perspective. That said yes you can live in the PI more affordably but in a lot of areas of the economy there you will get less in terms of quality. For expats there are multitude of considerations that should be researched with a Critical eye so you are not underestimating the many areas of life and quality of life Indexes. Another consideration is it really your new home or are you a visitor that is staying long? Most US and Westerners will inevitably return primarily because of family, financial considerations, and near end of life wishes. Do not wear Rose colored glasses be a realist and not paint a unrealistic expectation and lifestyle.

Our average spending per month is around $2500 for everything. So you are correct, those that come here living on $600 out of a total of $1500 a month are not living great... They are simply living. I would have to say that you are the richest guy in the world to capture the heart of Chrissy sorry if I spelled It wrong but all the money in the world does not compare to her beauty and personality. Money is not as important to me as finding someone as good as her and as pretty as her. I am trying to make a trip and find someone as beautiful as Chrissy might be hard there but as close as I can get to her. Thank you for all your effort. Best wishes to both of you.

I keep my address in the USA and receive my Social Security. No problem. I use PayPal and I have a Schwab card linked to my US address. I’m able to transfer money and pay all my bills. Other people I know have opened up bank accounts here in the Philippines and they have their Social Security, deposited directly, however they must file a letter every year with Social Security to continue receiving payments

Because they have work or Family Working overseas, or they are some of the Rich / well connected Familys in the Country. Many buys 2 or more Condos for investment and hire them out, when finished.

I've been watching you two for a while now and love the videos. I have a question. We're usually talking about older guys coming to the Philippines and sooner or later they die. Do they usually have a pre-arrangement to have their body shipped back home to be buried, or do they choose to be buried in the Philippines?

The ribeye steak is a bit pricey at Cuesta Roccia, but that is expected without a large beef industry, like in the U.S. Every place has its trade offs, and I shouldn't be eating lots of red meat anyway. 😁

I am on the central coast of California (Monterey, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach) and am planning on making a month long exploratory trip to the Philippines late 2025. I have several concerns about retiring there and first and foremost is the hot and humid weather. Where I live near the ocean and average day is 70F and there is zero sticky high humidity. I’ve been researching slightly higher elevations with cooler climates. Baguio sounded good but it appears to be absolutely jam packed with people which would rule it out for me. If you visit there I’d love to get your thoughts about the weather (might be too cold and rainy), internet quality and the overcrowding especially in the summertime. Great video! CDO is now on my list and for larger cities I really like Davao City over Cebu for several reasons.

It depends on how much you need to budget for housing. Many Expats are happy spending US$350-US$500 per month on housing for two or three bedroom home very few spend more than US$650 per month on rent so you can take it from there is less expensive transportation less expensive less expensive everything is pretty much less expensive except consumer goods like computers and televisions.
