What is CoPR and steps after that for your Canada PR journey | Confirmation of Permanent Resident

This is a detailed video on Canada Confirmation of PR (CoPR) for Canada Permanent Residency, which is obtained after your Passport Request along with your Immigration Visa.
I applied Express Entry in July 2019, Got my Invitation to Apply (ITA) in August 2019, CoPR in February 2020, PR Card in November 2020.
I made few mistakes during my Canada PR process, which lead to delay, so do not make those mistakes!
My journey in Canada started in September 2016 as an International student and finally receiving Canada PR Card in November, 2020.

I am a Canada work permit holder. At the end of July 2023, I applied for PR. I received the PR portal on February 5, 2024, but as of now, I haven't received the COPR. However, I have to leave Canada for two weeks at the end of April. If: I receive the COPR before leaving Canada for Hong Kong but haven't received the actual PR card, and don't have enough time to apply for a PRTD. I receive the COPR/PR confirmation while in Hong Kong. In both of these scenarios, how should I re-enter Canada? Thank you

If You have Immigration visa which you get along with CoPR that is the permission to come to Canada. Its just that you'll have to go through mandatory hotel quarantine at a hotel near airport and it would coat additional $2000. It is starting from Feb 22

With CoPR you usually get immigration visa which is usually valid for 6 months.. You need to have that to trVel. Just CoPR is not enough

CoPR previosuly used to come as letter but now due to covid, they might send it in online letter.. so if it says treat it as your PR or CoPR then that would mean you are good

If you are in Canada then along with COPR you would have recieved a letter to set up interview with IRCC or go to a port of entry (border) to complete the process. Due to Covid-19 human interaction is limited so they ask to post the COPr to IRCC office along with photograph and then they automatically complete the process and send PR card to your adress. If you are coming outside of Canada, then you have to fly to Canada and the process gets completed at Immigration where you share your CoPR with the Immigration officer and then they initiate your PR card application there

Check if you can travel to Canada now over here: travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/wizard-start You'll have to do 3 day hotel quarantine at the 1st port of entry in Canada so if you have flight landing 1st in Montreal, then you book hotel there, else wherever your 1st stop is in Canada

Montreal is an international airport, so its strange that you did not get a flighy directly to montreal airport. Usually you'll need to pass immigration at the point of entry to collect your luggage and then hop on to another domestic flight (which may or may not be in the same terminal). So technically it should be done in 1st point of entry, which would be Toronto. But follow whatever the airport authorities ask you to do

You can travel to India and come back if you have valid worker visa by the date you want to enter back in Canada. Nowdays due to restrictions, not all work visa holders are allowed to enter, that is why I asked you to check if you can qualify to enter, as you need to have job which is deemed essential by govt, only then you can re-enter during Corona. For 2nd question, as you'll get new work permit, you'll have to apply for Worker Visa (TRV) again for that permit, and based on new Worker Visa you can travel back and forth again

My destination is Montreal. But if land in Toronto, can I show my copr there?? Or first time I need to land Montreal?? As there is a rule of quarantine at the port of entry. And my port of entry will be in Toronto

It can happen in either of the airports, but most likely it would happen in Toronto itself as it would be the 1st point of entry. Either ways the PR card application will be initiated and you'll need to do quarantine wherever you book the hotel among list of approved hotels.

Hello Veere! Once I receive my COPR. What is the validity before which I have to travel to Canada? Once I travel to canada after getting COPR, after how many days can I return to India?

Validity of CoPR is usually 6 months in which you have to travel to Point of Entry in Canada (border or airport) and once you reach there, the officials process your application and initiate manual PR card application, which is the sent to the address you provide to the officials at Point of Entry. Then you can return to India anytime you want. But for re-entry you would require your PR Card. So either stay till you get your PR card or once someone receives your PR card on canadian address, they can fly to India and give your PR card to you and then you can re-enter Canada again.

Also is it necessary for me to leave my job in India when I fly to canada to get the PR Card? Can I take a leave for a month from my job and fly to canada and collect my PR Card. The reason I am asking this is because I want to save the maximum possible money before I leave my job India and start looking for a job in Canada(want to use this money during those tough time when I would be unemployed)

In non-corona times it used to take 15-20 days, but during corona, since people aren’t going to office, very limited batches of PR cards are issued and it takes around 120 days. And here you can get survival job easily which will pay you almost same as you’ll be making there and in the meantime you can search for your field job as well

You can assign the address of someone in Canada but you woyld need PR Card to enter Canada. If you have valid work visa for the time being, then you can enter using that visa

Wil my open work permit gets cancelled once i get CO PR. Because i have submitted my pr application with AOR November 2nd 2020, and mean while as it is still in process i am planning to travel to india and get married, during this process if i get CO PR and as i have my open work permit till may 2022 , can I enter to canada 🇨🇦 with my co pr or Open work permit?

@@CanadianDost IRCC has asked not to raise webform.. What's the alternative method reach out to them from India. The earlier raised webform just got generic feedback nothing in specific. As already 7 months have been elapsed so have no idea what to do next to expedite the process.

Yeah, they rarely give a response because of the volume. I would suggest to call them at the number I shared using Talm360 , Skype or Rebtel app. You can call nortb america for cheap using those apps

You will be asked to send your passport to Canada Embassy so they can paste immigration visa which you can use to travel and enter Canada. On airport itself they will initiate your PR card application manually
