Yes Please! ☺ I grow them in my garden and then have many, haha. I like adding them to beef stew. I have tried to do that half dehydrate and season method. Not sure I am getting it right. I suspect I will have to double peel like you did for this recipe. I have also tried the hang them outside and dry method. You could do a whole series considering how versatile this radish is. 😁 I am lucky that my local stores do have a supply of them so this time of year when I have used up my own, I have the option to buy some.

I LOVE daikon. It was one of the first Chinese ingredients I experimented with. This dish seems simple and looked delicious; I'll have to try it. My favorite recipe with daikon is a stew of oxtails with daikon; the main spice is star anise and it's garnished with coriander. The cooked daikon always comes out so sweet and tasty in that dish, so I can imagine that this recipe might also really highlight it.

I make a simple pickle with them. Slice thinly, I find the thinner the better. Add chinese black vinegar and sugar to taste. Really work it in with your hands in the bowl. The radish is strong so you can give a good squeeze.

I absolutely love daikon radish. I am ALWAYS up for daikon recipes. It broke my heart when I realized how hard it was to get daikon (and many of the Asian ingredients I'm used to having easy access to) here. Now I have to make trips every 4 or 5 months to the Asian grocery stores I'm used to, which is a 3.5 hour drive each way, and I spend a couple hundred dollars each time to stock up on things. I only have 1 daikon left in my fridge, and will have to keep my fingers crossed that I can find more soon.

For anyone who can't get their hands on Diakon, I think waxy turnips or white turnips would be a good substitute, but turnips have a slightly spicy, horseradish flavor to them, though.
@BigHenFor9 ай бұрын
If you are going down that route, you might as well use Rutabagas, aka swedes, as they are delicious if steamed or roasted. The only downside is they break up if cooked too long in soups. The flavour is slightly sweet. They make a delicious mash.
