I was diagnosed with DID, but I feel like I more fit into the OSDD category... watching your videos is really helping me with presenting more information and questions to my therapist! Thank you! I feel like I don't experience enough amnesia to be classified under DID.

I feel like I classify as an OSDD-1b system, because the only criteria for DID I don't fit is the significant amnesia. I do have some amnesia, but I don't think it's enough to class as DID
@TheRingsSystem5 жыл бұрын
Hiya! This might help? Besides childhood trauma (which is in another category) you don't need to experience full amnesia between switches ALL the time to have DID. Most systems only have it every now and then - or only for certain alters. The key thing that makes OSDD-1b different is that complete amnesia is never experienced (except for around childhood trauma) 💜

@@TheRingsSystem Welp. Given that comment and this video. I think I need to get myself checked out for osdd -1b. If I do have alters I’m gonna open my arms to them. As best I can. But I don’t do anything without clarification

Thank you for making these videos!! I really love learning about dissociative disorders, they're so misunderstood, and I love to see an OSDD system in the multiple community here on youtube :-) Stay well

I'm kind conflicted.. i feel like i classify as an OSDD-1b but i dont have memories of a childhood trauma ever happening
@TheRingsSystem5 жыл бұрын
That's ok! This disorder is meant to make us forget things and doubt whether they ever happened. A majority of people with DID/OSDD often don't have early memories of childhood either :)

Yeah, We dont care about the official diagnosis. We definitely seem to fit the criteria for DID. We are just working on dealing with being fragmented. Being a functional human being is all we really care about. If we find that an official diagnosis would be beneficial, we might pursue that

Could we have osdd from medical things? Our body had 9 surgery’s when we were 8. We have trama holders from that, and some emotional trama stuff. Could it be both?
@TheRingsSystem4 жыл бұрын
There's no certain 'type' of trauma that causes DID! Anything that's traumatizing and repetitive before the age of 9ish counts, so in short, yes medical stuff can cause DID/OSDD if it's traumatizing ❤️

I'm going to have a look at more of your videos, but if you haven't tackled it already, I'd personally lovd to see/have any guidance on what a normal level of amnesia is. I forget a lot, and people often recount memories they have with me and it's 50/50 whether I'll remember the memory as well or not. I find I try to take a lot of pictures and videos to try and compensate. Because sometimes when I look at a photo I can then start the remember more of what happened. Although sometimes it still feels like I'm looking at the memory from a third person perspective.

Thanks for the video. It helps. Any tips for communicate with alter
@TheRingsSystem5 жыл бұрын
I'd leave some external communication things around for them - like little post its, or start a journal where you introduce yourself and leave notes to alters. Leave both of these in visible places you frequent, and you might get a response! ❤️

I fit all of these things, and I actually did switch just less so as we aged since covertness and my beliefs that as a young kid you remember less. I can see the seeds of our young personalities. Our protector dealt with outside people, I dealt with academics and intimate relationships (friendships, parents, etc. and I’m basically a door mat), our one anp is just who we’d be if we didn’t have to deal with this. There’s the entire history of my self harm centered around a singular alter.

just a little bit of personal feedback. so uh, i think it'd be best if you stopped saying SEVERE trauma, and instead said CHRONIC or REPEATED trauma. trauma doesn't have to feel "severe" for it to cause a system, but it does (to my knowledge) have to be chronic. i was thinking about showing my mother this video, but your usage of SEVERE makes it a bad idea, as my mom is in denial about me having ~any~ trauma because she thinks all trauma has to be SEVERE and stuff i definitely should not say on a system's video, lest it be a potential trigger. trauma that forms did/osdd can literally just be a neurodivergent child having their boundaries disrespected. over and over again. that isn't classified as ""severe,"" but it's still trauma, especially to a child. using terms such as severe also feels somewhat invalidating, given that trauma is trauma and everyone reacts differently to trauma. i believe it is also required for there to be a disorganized attachment to caregivers for a system to form (or not unform, you could say), due to the coping mechanism having to be turned inwards when the child has no support.
@abbiepancakeeater524 жыл бұрын
on a different note, i thought anps were parts who hold no trauma, and eps hold trauma? am i remembering wrong or something? i am the host, but hold trauma (not our childhood trauma, whatever that even is, but trauma from within the past 5 years), so i thought i'd classify as an ep, despite being the host. our internal protector holds no trauma to my knowledge, but is, you know, an internal protector, almost completely emotionless to help *me* with my intense emotions, so i thought it'd be an anp.
@TheRingsSystem4 жыл бұрын
You're completely correct here - this is an older video, one we wished we could take out the repeated use of 'severe' in. There are theories of disorganized attachment when it comes to DID, but it's not a requirement - especially if the initiating abuse wasn't perpetuated by caregivers. (also on ANP/EP, we personally think that model is bs, as we and so many other systems we know don't fit it. Many clinicians have had to twist and make up their own definitions for ANP/EP to make it applicable for their clients (many books on DID written by folks will re-define these terms for the use of the book, and they're all slightly different) - so if you don't perfectly fit the ANP/EP model, I wouldn't worry about it too much ❤️️
