What Is e-Passport & How Will It Help You? Here's Everything You Need to Know

India will soon introduce e-Passports or digital passports with secured biometric data. Sanjay Bhattacharyya, Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs announced the news on Twitter. The microchip in the passport will be quickly scanned at the airport, which will save time and resources required for physical verification at immigration counters.

If your earlier passport is made legally by Govt of india then nothing to worry about it will be null and void but if any valid visas will remain valid , if your older passport is made illegally and is like black money then you are in trouble

WHEN VISAS ARE NOT ISSUED ON ONE'S PASSPORT LAMINATE THEM AFTER THEY HAVE EXPIRED FOR THE VERY SAME PURPOSE AND WHEN TRAVELLING CLOSELY GUARD ONE'S PASSPORT.AND KEEP TWO ZEROX COPIES OF IT FOR SAFETY SAKE. SOME COUNTRIES LIKE CANADA DO REQUIRE YOU TO SHOW YOUR PASSPORT AND VISA WHEN EXITING THE COUNTRY .

WHEN LEAVING CANADA THE PLANE IS TOWED TO THE TAKE OFF POINT OF THE RUNWAY TO PREVENT STOWAWAYS AND IN SOME BUT NOT ALL CANADIAN AIRPORTS BUSES WITH RAMPS ARE USED TO TRANSPORT PASSENGERS TO THE AIRPORT AND IN SOME BUT NOT ALL CASES THE PLANE'S DOORS ARE CLOSED BY REMOTE CONTROL FOR THE SAME PURPOSE.

What if the chip is damaged and unable to read the data inside it? Do we need to apply new passport again by paying the amount or free of cost?

Your passport will be considered damaged and you'll have to get a new one at the price of replacing a new one.
